(TEC Services) is an AASHTO R18 and Army Corp of Engineers accredited independent laboratory in compliance with ANS/ISO/IEC Standard 17025:2005. TEC Services is pleased to present this report on the testing of the two submitted polypropylene expansion joint filler materials which were received on July 21, The submitted materials were designated as &. This work was performed in accordance with our Service Agreement (TEC-PRO ). The test results presented only pertain to the samples tested. The purpose of the testing was to evaluate the performance of the submitted samples in accordance with the applicable sections of ASTM D Standard Test Methods for Preformed Expansion Joint Fillers for Concrete Construction (Nonextruding and Resilient Types). Test method for determination of asphalt content was not performed based on the composition of the material. Recovery & Compression Five 4 x 4 specimens were tested for recovery and compression in accordance with Section 7.2. Upon determining the initial thickness the specimens were loaded in compression at a rate of 0.05 in./min of crosshead displacement until reaching 50% of the original specimen thickness. The load was recorded and then released and the specimen allowed to recover for a period of 10 minutes before taking final measurements for thickness. Test results are reported in Table 1.

2 Project: & N ASTM D545 Five 4 x 4 specimens were tested for extrusion in accordance with Section The specimens were placed in a three sided steel as described in ASTM D545. A steel plate matching the dimensions of the specimen was loaded at a rate of 0.05 in./min until reaching 50% of the original thickness. The maximum movement of the free edge of the test specimen was then measured. Test results are reported in Table 2. Boiling in Hydrochloric Acid One 4 x 4 specimen from each sample type was immersed and boiled in 37% HCL for a duration of 1 hour. The specimens were then removed from solution and observed for any signs of deterioration. No signs of deterioration were observed in either or. A photo of the specimens after immersion is shown in Photo 1. Absorption & Density Three 4 x 4 specimens from each sample type were tested for absorption and density in accordance with Section 7.6 and 7.7. The specimens were weighed and measured prior to being immersed in distilled water at a depth of 1.00 for a period of 24 hrs. The specimens were removed from the water and blotted with a paper towel to a surface dried condition before taking final weights. For density the specimens were air dried and placed in a chamber at 65 ± 1 % RH and 68 ± 6 F until reaching a constant mass. The density was then determined based on the weight and dimensions of the specimens. Test results are reported in Table 3. Expansion in Boiling Water Five 4 x 4 specimens from each sample type were tested for expansion in boiling water. Measurements for initial thickness were taken prior immersion in boiling distilled water for a period of 1 hour. The specimens were removed from solution and allowed to cool for 15 minutes before taking final measurements for thickness. Test results are reported in Table 4.
