2 CE compliance H: Oil mist filtration Preface Sheet H1 The oil mist capturing efficiency can be maximised by observing the following simple rules: Hoods Whenever technically feasible, the machine will be equipped with a hood, leaving only small openings that will be easy to maintain at low vacuum pressure flow. Capture point layout Do not try to capture the oil, but capture the oil mist and fumes. The sensor must not be placed to the right of the machining area, especially if the machine is hooded. Place the sensor in a corner of the machine. As the capture provides partial vacuum pressure at the air intakes, the mist does not appear in the machining area. Duct network. It will be carried out in sealed ducts with joints, sloping toward the capture area. It will be removable to ensure easy cleaning of the ducts. Capture speed In open capture, the maximum capture rate at the oil mist emission point is located in a large area (0.5 m/s at values greater than 2.5 m/s): it depends on different parameters such as the implementation of the capture device relative to the emission source, the oil supply pressure, the rotation speed of the tools, etc. For machines with hoods, the retained air speed is 0.3m/s on open surfaces, the parts loading door by digital control will also count as an air inlet. Plan for fan stoppage time to allow the filters to drain, become less saturated, increase longevity and maintain a even constant speed. If this is not possible, for machining centres operating 24/24 full time, choose a filter with a larger filtration surface to have 2 filters in parallel for the calculated air flow. MECHANICAL OR ELECTROSTATIC FILTERS? There is no difference in efficacy between these two technologies, but they are used in different applications. Both technologies can be used with equal effectiveness in various applications. Mechanical filters are recommended for the following applications: - When cutting fluid contains fine metal particles that can cause short circuits in an electrostatic filter. - When the emulsions contain only a small amount of oil or metallic additives. - When a high concentration of oil is to be filtered. - When the oils have a very low flash point. The FMBH are mechanical filters with optional HEPA H 12 class final filtration, providing air recycling. Draining 217/265

3 H: Oil mist filtration Sheet H2 Preamble The AZUR filter range has now added two new filters for oil mist, filters FMBHP (Filtre Mécanique Brouillards d Huile à Poches - Bag Oil Mist Mechanical Filter) and the FMBHC filters (Filtre Mécanique Brouillards d Huile à Cassettes - Cartridge Oil Mist Mechanical Filter). These filters, manufactured for high efficiency in industrial settings with limited maintenance, can be used for applications in the treatment of whole cutting oils, soluble oils and oils charged with metal particles in suspension. The quality of filtration these FMBH filters is due to the different stages of filtration: 1) Pre-separator and bottomend collection of the oil in a pan 2) Hydro-filter with condenser effect 3) Metallic pre-filtration 4) Bags filters (FMBHP) or with cartridges) (FMBHC) 5) Depending on model, HEPA fine filter for in workshop recycling (Absolute Filter ) The filters requiring replacement have a pressure control gauge (1 for a main filter + 1 for the HEPA filter ). 7 CE compliance H: Oil mist filtration Sheet H3 Field of application Electrostatic filters 2.1, 3.0 and 5.0 EH are especially designed and manufactured to collect fully or partially diluted oil mist, poorly charged with metal particles. They can be used alone with a POLYARTICULAR or ECOFLEX extraction arm or as a filtration unit (all types) for more arms or sensors with a collection network. In any case, collecting at source guarantees the best efficiency for collecting pollutants. The AZUR wall-mounted electrostatic filters consist of industrial filter cells. Used in the anticipated conditions the life span of an electrostatic filter is very high, thus guaranteeing considerable economy. ADVANTAGES FOR USING ELECTROSTATIC FILTERS Highly efficient filtration with washable filter cells. Basic built-in alarm. When the filter is clogged, an audio signal sets off and 20 seconds later the filter stops working. In this case, the filter must be cleaned in order be operational again. The air flow passes at first through a hydrofilter and then through a pre-filter in order to condense the mist. All other particles receive a charge of 12,000 Volts in the ionising cell. Subsequently, these particles are separated and collected on the plates of the collecting cell, which has a charge of 6,000 Volts /265
