1 Halifax District Environmental Scan of nd Quarter Item No Total District Criminal Code Offences/Drugs Total Criminal Code offences in the second quarter of 2016 show a decrease of -11 or -.84% compared to the second quarter in Drugs for the second quarter of 2016 increased by +15 or % compared to the second quarter of In the second quarter offences count for 50% of Total Criminal Code offences, while crimes against account for 12% and Other Criminal Code offences account for 38%. Second Quarter comparison between 2015 and 2016: Crimes Overall Crime increased by +35 or +5.70%. Stolen Motor Vehicles increased by +4 or %. Break and Enters increased by +2 or +1.89%. Fraud incidents increased by +37 or %. Violent Crimes Overall Violent Crime decreased by -3 or -1.94%. Robberies decreased by -2 or -25%. Homicides increased by +1 or +100%. Attempted Murders increased by +1 or +50%. Assaults decreased by -2 or -1.39%. Assaults accounted for 93% of reported violent crimes in the second quarter of Other Criminal Code Includes prostitution, gaming/betting, offensive weapons, and other criminal code offences (i.e. arson, property damage, indecent acts, counterfeiting currency etc.) Offensive Weapons decreased by -4 in the second quarter of 2016 or by %. Prostitution offences decreased by -2 or -100% in the second quarter of 2016.

2 Halifax District Assaults - Break & Enter - Theft Under April - June 2015/16 Assaults Assaults Level 1 accounted for 65% of the total Assaults in the 2 nd quarter of 2016, the 2 nd quarter of 2015 had a result of 61% and experienced a +10% increase in 2016 over the same period last year. Assault with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm accounted for 14% of the total Assaults in 2016 compared to 11% in 2015 and experienced a +31% increase over the same period last year. All forms of Sexual Assaults combined accounted for 10% of the total Assaults in 2016 compared to 16% in % Homicide Attempted Murder Sexual Assault Sexual Interference Invitation to Sexual Touching Incest Sex. Explicit Material to Child Luring a Child via a Computer Voyeurism Aggravated Assault Level Assault Weapon, Bodily Harm Assault Level Discharge Firearm with Intent Use Firearm or Imitation Point Firearms Dangerous Use Assault Police Officer Criminal Negligence Causing Harm Forcible Confinement

Theft from Motor Vehicle under $5,000 accounted for 39% of the total Theft Under $5,000 in the 2 nd quarter 2016 compared to 51% in 2015 and experienced a -23% decrease over the same period last year. Possession of Stolen Goods experienced a -25% decrease in the 2 nd quarter 2016 over the same period last year. Theft of Bicycle experienced a +67% increase in the 2 nd quarter 2016 over the same period last year.
