2 The philosophy: To create a: To create a high quality chemical and oil products tanker suitable for a wide range of chemicals, vegetable oils and oil products as far as within the scope of this specification. Vessel with a double hull and a double deck for safety and energy conservation; Vessel with a flush deck for easy and safe operation. Vessel with twelve cargo tanks, twelve segregations and one deep well cargo pump in each tank. The focus: To design and built a vessel with: Adapted to Owner s requirements concerning loading and discharge capacities Suitable to operate with a relative small crew Using mainly existing and proven technology for cargo containment and cargo handling Main engine will be of the dual-fuel type running mainly on LNG with fuel oil for ignition and as back-up. Auxiliary engines and boilers will run on natural gas. Cargoes: Cargo tanks: The vessel is designed for following cargoes: IMO II chemicals: o As listed in the IBC code and within the scope of this specification o Such as but not limited to: Acetic Acid, Benzene, Caustic Soda solution, Glycols, Methanol, Phenol, Phosphoric Acid, Propylene Oxide, Sulphuric Acid, Styrene, Toluene, Xylene, etc. Vegetable oils: o According FOSFA and as listed in the IBC code; Oil products: o Oil products as listed in MARPOL Annex I, Appendix I with exception of high heat products like asphalt and bitumen. Cargo tanks are designed for following loads: o Up to 1.30 t/m 3 with max C and 100% filling o At 1.52 t/m 3 with max C and 100% filling o At 1.87 t/m 3 with max C and 100% filling o Alternate filling and partial filling without restrictions o One block of four tanks suitable for propylene oxide with P/V valves set at 0.6 bar Project: P

5 Reduction gearbox: A reduction gearbox will be installed suitable for: Input: 2,700 kw at 750 rpm Output CPP: 2,700 kw at approx. 160 rpm Output PTO: 675 kw at 1,800 rpm Auxiliary electric power: Electric power will be supplied as follows: Three (3) natural gas fuelled diesel-alternator sets of approx. 460 kva / 1,200/1,800 rpm. One (1) marine diesel fuelled harbour/emergency set of 200 kva / 1,800 rpm. One (1) shaft alternator 800 kva / 1,800 rpm Electric power modes: Electric power can be used as follows: During sailing ships load will be supplied from the shaft alternator able to do full tank washing operations in winter time. (Boilers, pumps, lighting, etc.) During manoeuvring the shaft alternator can supply power to the bow thruster. Ships load can be transferred to one of the diesel alternator sets. During cargo operations two diesel alternator sets in parallel can supply to all systems. In case of failure of the main engine the diesel alternator sets in parallel will supply to the bow thruster as emergency propulsion unit. Bow thruster: Electric driven 600 kw bow thruster of steerable type supplying thrust for manoeuvring and acting as emergency get-me-home propulsion unit. Rudder/steering gear: Following to be fitted: Spade-type rudder Rotary-vane type steering gear 2x70 0 Construction: Vessel to be constructed according Class: Vessel built of mild steel Grade A and where necessary of high tensile steel type AH36. Cargo tanks are constructed of solid stainless steel type EN ( duplex ). Separating bulkheads in cargo tanks will be of corrugated type according GA Plan. All other construction will be on the outside of the tanks. Project: P

6 Vessel constructed with a double hull and a double deck in the cargo area. Cargo deck will be flush and without construction. All fuel oil and other oil tanks will be separated from the shell by cofferdams, void spaces or water tanks. Conservation: Painting system: Underwater: Epoxy and anti-fouling Above water: Epoxy Ballast tanks: Epoxy Fresh water tanks: Epoxy Manifold crane: One (1) electric-hydraulic or electric operated crane: Capacity: 1.5 ton SWL at 15 m Handling of cargo hoses Handling of fuel oil and LNG/vapour hoses Handling of Yokohama fenders (if any) Handling of stores and gangways Bilge-ballast system: A seawater ballast system to be provided with: Two (2) ballast ejectors with pumps in the engine room. Capacity each 200 m 3 /h. A ring line with GRP/GRE piping and hydraulic or electrichydraulic operated valves. Pumps and valves controlled from the wheelhouse. Ballast water treatment unit with a capacity of 200 m 3 /h. Heating installation: A heating system for cargo- and engine room systems, primary based on thermal oil, will be provided: Two (2) gas-or-oil fired boilers of 1,500 kw capacity each. One (1) exhaust gas economizer for the main engine. Heat exchangers for cargo and tank washing water. Secondary thermal oil heating system with two (2) circulating pumps and stainless steel heating coils in all cargo tanks. Coils based on 2 x 50%. Cargo heating capable for maintaining a full cargo at 75 0 C and heating up a full cargo from 45 0 C to 65 0 C in 96 hours with a seawater temperature of 0 0 C and an air temperature of -5 0 C. Manual control of valves from the cargo deck. Project: P

7 Cargo pumps: In each cargo tank one electric driven, frequency controlled, deep-well, single-stage, centrifugal cargo pump will be installed: Capacities: o Twelve (12) pumps: 150 m 3 /h at 100 mlc. S.G. 1.0 t/m 3 Viscosity 1 cst. In addition one portable, hydraulic driven, submersible pump of 50 m 3 /h. Material of pumps stainless steel. Cargo piping systems: All cargo piping and valves shall be of stainless steel. Each cargo tank is connected to a dedicated crossover at the manifold. One common crossover for all tanks will be fitted. Cargo stripping system driven by compressed air or nitrogen. Double valve segregations where required. Cargo valves of butterfly double-eccentric type. Crossovers at manifold: At the manifold following crossovers will be provided: Cargo tanks: ND 100 (12 each) Vapour return: ND 100 (2 each) Common cargo: ND 250 Nitrogen: ND 25 MGO: ND 80 Nitrogen system: Nitrogen system for purging and padding: Nitrogen generator with a capacity of 1,125 m 3 /h at 95% purity and with a buffer tank of approx. 5 m 3. Nitrogen piping connections to each tank and with quick connections along the cargo deck for purging of piping. Dry air supply from nitrogen generator compressors. Cargo tank venting: Cargo tanks will be provided with ventilation systems: Each cargo tank shall be provided with a stainless steel high-velocity P/V valve. Four tanks suitable for 0.6 bar setting to take propylene oxide cargoes. All tanks can be connected to two (2) common vapour return lines with one crossover each at the manifold. Project: P

8 Cargo tank cleaning: Cargo tank cleaning provided: Each tank fitted with two (2) fixed washing machines in accordance with shadow calculations. Four machines can run at the same time with a capacity each of 8 m 3 /h at 80 0 C and seawater temperature at 5 0 C. Fresh water (hot or cold) or seawater washing. Valves are controlled manually on deck. Cargo control equipment: Cargo control and monitoring system: Cargo control station in the wheelhouse with VDU s and terminals. Remote control of cargo pumps and valves, ballast pumps and valves, tank cleaning pump and temperature. Monitoring of cargo tank level (radar), high and high-high levels, cargo tank pressure, cargo crossover pressure, cargo tank temperatures, ballast tank levels, fuel tanks levels and ships draught and trim. Lifesaving appliances: According SOLAS and flag state: One freefall lifeboat with recovery A-frame Rescue boat with davit Life rafts, etc. as required Fire protection: Fire protection, detection and firefighting systems: Detection and insulation according SOLAS and Class CO2 in engine room Local firefighting systems as required Foam fire-extinguishing system on cargo deck Deck wash- and firefighting system as required Water spray system on LNG system valves, connections and bunkering station. Gas detection: Electric installation: Gas detection according IBC and Class: Gas detection in ballast tanks and enclosed spaces where required with read-out and alarms. Main panel in the wheelhouse. According classification requirements: Power distribution 3x440 Volt / 60 Hz. Main switchboard, control panels and cargo switchboard in air-conditioned switchboard room Safe type equipment where required on deck Project: P

9 Automation and control: Automation, monitoring and control according: Class UMS. Accommodation: Accommodation according MLC 2006: Complement of eleven (11) in single cabins Mess- and dayrooms, galley, office, provision stores, change room, etc. Wheelhouse with cargo control station Ventilation and AC: Ventilation, heating and AC: Accommodation fully air-conditioned according MLC 2006 and ISO standards. Ventilation in other spaces as required. Sanitary installation: Sanitary installation to consist of: Hot- and cold fresh water systems. Fresh water evaporator. Each cabin fitted with a private sanitary unit. A sewage holding tank with discharge pump. A sewage treatment unit. Mooring equipment: Mooring arrangement: Forward two (2) electric-hydraulic windlasses with each one cable lifter, two mooring drums and one warping head. On aft deck two (2) electric-hydraulic winches with each two mooring drums and one warping head. Winches electric-hydraulic type or alternatively electric driven with frequency control. Nautical equipment: Nautical equipment installed: According GMDSS for A1, A2 and A3 sailing area Arrangement and equipment acc. Class. Radars, radio station, VHF, Inmarsat-C, etc. Echo sounder, speed log, gyro compass, autopilot GPS, VSAT, ECDIS AIS, VDR, EPIRB, etc. Other equipment as required for the type and size of vessel and the sailing area. 10 Engine room systems: Systems in engine room for engines and other duties: Fuel supply systems for main- and auxiliary engines for gas and oil. Main engine lubricating oil purifier and filters Starting- and control air systems Firefighting / general service / foam pumps Bilge system, etc. as required LNG fuel gas systems: A LNG fuel gas system for main engine, auxiliary engines and thermal oil boilers shall be provided: One (1) LNG tank with cold box, placed on cargo deck with approx. 300 m 3 capacity (100%). LNG bunkering stations. Piping systems in engine room double walled. Each engine and boiler with a separate GVU. Cooling water system: A freshwater cooling system based on individual boxcoolers will be installed for: Main engine LT system, including: o Gearbox oil cooler o CPP oil cooler Main engine HT system, including: o FW evaporator o Pre-heating of tank wash water Auxiliary engines Air-conditioning OPTIONS: Following options are possible: Ice Class 1A Mild steel cargo tanks with epoxy coating Stern thruster PTO/PTI system for emergency propulsion Flap type rudder Methanol fuelled instead of natural gas (LNG) Project: P
