We are looking forward to growing and developing Pacific Seals current business and expanding our industrial market focus. bout Guide Rings The task of guide rings and strips of material is to guide the piston in the cylinder bore and rod in the cylinder head in a hydraulic cylinder as well as to withstand arising side pressures and prevent metallic contact between these axially mobile parts. The demands on reliability are continuously increasing. t the same time the service conditions are getting tougher in order to match the development towards higher effectiveness of the hydraulic systems. Therefore, it is very important to be familiar with the functional parameters such as service temperature, load, speed and type of hydraulic medium when choosing the most appropriate bearing material. bout ushes HDU gives you the widest application range of any self-lubricating bush and provides economical solutions to many bushing applications. They are reliable and can be used with fully rotational oscillatory, and axial sliding motion, take both radial and thrust loads, and resist shock loadings. These bushes are noted for their long, trouble-free life, their tolerance of dusty, dirty environments, their ability to withstand operating extremes and perform in the presence of most solvents and industrial fluids. HDX bushes are recommended for applications involving intermittent operation or boundary lubrication. s a result of the unique lubrication-retaining pockets on the surface, HDX bushes are especially well suited for applications where lubricant cannot be supplied continuously or repeatedly. The length of time that a HDX bush will operate without further lubrication depends on the interaction of the load, surface speed, and temperature encountered in specific operation conditions. With proper lubrication and re-lubrication at appropriate intervals, HDX bushes can last indefinitely.

The materials natural resistance to water makes it an ideal choice for pneumatic applications. They can be used in conjunction with almost any Hallite piston seal. 10 87 GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Design Type 87 guide strip has the ability to support side loads and eliminate stick slip between moving parts. The accurately dimensioned rectangular cross section is produced from a special combination of PTFE and ronze materials. It has excellent heat resistance and strength to resist creep, making it suitable for bearings with reciprocating, oscillating or rotary movement, whether lubricated or not. Our standard range of cross section sizes are proportioned to be wrapped around a wide range of rod or piston diameters. Installation of the strip is an easy task. alculate and measure length L 2 (see page 35), cut the strip with a sharp blade and fit to the groove. If required we will be pleased to supply bearings to your sizes. Independent testing has established the typical properties which make the type 87 worthwhile considering for many applications other than hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders. When using the compressive stress at yield in your calculation it is suggested a 4:1 factor of safety is applied. The material is compatible with hydraulic mineral oil, lubricating oil, water based and synthetic fire resistant fluids and lubricating grease. 12 88 GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Design Type 88 anti-dieseling rings are fitted to pistons outboard of the main guide rings to reduce the possibility of the heat of compression ignition ( dieseling ) detonations damaging the main guides or main piston seal. It is recommended that such rings be installed on the pistons in cylinders that are known to be subjected to shock loading and pressure spikes, for example cylinders on excavators. Type 88 rings are made from a carbon filled PTFE material which is designed to withstand the heat of the compression ignition combustion that can occur in a hydraulic oil/air bubble. They can be used in conjunction with main guides such as the type 506 polyester fabric strip or the type 533 glass filled nylon guides, and piston seals such as the type 735. 14 406 GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Design The Type 406 DU bush is a thin-walled steel bush, axially split, with its inside diameter bronze plated and then PTFE coated. The bush can be used in dry environments and is ideal as a rod guide bearing in hydraulic cylinders. It can be fitted between the rod seal and rod wiper, or on the pressure side of the rod seal. The PTFE coating has a very low coefficient of friction to help eliminate stick-slip, particularly in low speed applications, and it is impervious to almost any chemical attack. The bush is axially split to facilitate fitting, however an appropriate tool should be used on a press. 16 506 GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Design Type 506 guide strip is available in three forms: cut rings, spiral lengths and flat coils. The type 506 provides an extremely effective, hard wearing and easy to use material. Manufactured to very tight tolerances and providing solutions for reciprocating, oscillating and slow rotary movement applications, type 506 guide strip is used in many of today s most arduous hydraulic applications around the world. ommonly fitted in reciprocating cylinders as rod and piston guides, type 506 is capable of withstanding extreme side-loads preventing metal to metal contact. The material s design incorporates micro indentations on the strip s surface to trap fluid and provide built in lubrication to the guide strip. The type 506 guide strip is manufactured by a patented process, using a woven fabric reinforced polyester resin material and is proven to be compatible with a wide range of fluids, including mineral oils, water based fluids and phosphate esters, to produce a rectangular section strip which is available in a wide range of inch and metric sizes including cross sections specified in ISO NOTE: For reciprocating applications, the compressive stress at yield should be used for design calculations. For rotary shafts use the limiting P.V. values. It is suggested that a 2:1 factor of safety is applied. 18 533/533D Design GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Type 533 glass filled nylon guide rings are designed for reciprocating piston and rod applications. The material is heat stabilised 33% glass reinforced nylon 66, which offers excellent properties. The material is compatible with hydraulic and lubricating oils. The material is not recommended for use in water based fluids (HF) or where significant water is present, due to the swell of the nylon. For these applications the use of type 506 or type 63 bearings are recommended. Type 533D wear rings are created using Delrin material and have slightly different operating characteristics. 20 533T GUE RINGS ND USHES p: e: Design The type 533T piston guide is moulded with 33% heat stabilized, glass reinforced Nylon 66. The design of the type 533T is a t-shape cross section which allows full bearing contact while also offering the advantage of a t-groove form of retention that does not require side land near the working surface of the guide ring. The type 533T is typically used in telescopic cylinder applications. It is not suitable for use in applications where water based fluids are used, nor is it suitable in applications where significant water is present, due to the swell of the nylon.
