2 Hello Chapter Members, I hope all is well with everyone since our last newsletter which wrapped up our year-long spotlight of the 1963 Cadillac. As we turn our focus on the 1964 Cadillac, I thought the picture above with the fabulous Dolly Parton most appropriate, especially given the fact she is posing alongside our featured body style for the month. I think we can agree that this picture features two classic body styles! While I am excited about sharing stats and facts and exploring the details of why we think this automobile is so great, I also want to have fun with our in depth look at the 1964 Cadillac, and hope to include some different features in the newsletters this year. Hopefully by the end of the year we will have an even better appreciation for this fine automobile. Spotlight on 1964 Cadillacs and a Movie Car We begin our examination of the 1964 Cadillac body series and body style by spotlighting a 1964 Series Sixty-Two Sedan Four Window used in the recent Hollywood Blockbuster X-Men: First Class owned by chapter member Rob Simon. Rob has a rich history with old cars and Cadillacs and even has another movie car used in the movie My Cousin Vinny which you will see parked in front of his house in his profile story. Be sure and check out Rob s First Class 62 Series, and be sure to check out the movie! Ironically, I had recently started watching each of the X-Men on Blu-Ray as I had not seen them during their theatrical release. Early in the 5 th movie installment, X-Men: First Class, there are glimpses of what looks like a 1964 Cadillac. Later Director's Message by Jason Edge the car with main cast drives up and gets out and you see Rob s Sedan in all of its beautiful glory. I of course almost slide off the couch with excitement as I always do when I see a 1963 or 1964 Cadillac in a movie or on TV. So thank you, Rob, for sharing with us a movie car from one of my favorite Sci-Fi movie series! Be sure and check out the screen captures in detail on our website! 1964 Cadillac Prestige Brochure Online In preparation for the newsletter, I have scanned the larger 1964 Cadillac Prestige Brochure and have posted it to our website (see the drop down Literature tab under the main website heading). I have also begun scanning the applicable Dealer Data Book pages to include. As we continue to spotlight different 1964 body series and body styles, I will continue to scan in and eventually post the entire Dealer Data Book to our website. This is a 117 Page manual and will take some time to scan and post all of the pages. Looking Forward The original plan was to feature each body style in order by body series group, however, we may mix it up a bit as we go along. In reality I have to use the stories I have available, so this is where I am asking each of you to consider sending in an article with pictures of our 1964 Cadillac. This month we can tick off the 4 window 62 series, which leaves us with 10 more unique body styles to cover! With that said, Happy Motoring! Jason.

5 Member Cadillac Spotlights Rob Simon s First Class 1964 Series Sixty-Two Sedan Four Window What's in a Cadillac when it comes to the movies? What is it about these old Cadillacs that capture our attention and affection? I have always enjoyed the brotherhood and enthusiasm I have encountered along the way since trading for my first Cadillac back in So, for me, the journey began when I received the ultimate privilege for a 16 year old - my drivers license. Wow - and I got a hand me down - way down - a total rust bucket of a 1966 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 - I mean holes in the floorboard and trunk like Fred Flintstone had. So I swapped it for the Rob s 1960 Cadillac Hearse most unusual car I could find and it was a 1960 Cadillac hearse with 36,000 miles on it. The guy that had it received so many complaints from his neighbors he gladly traded even for my running rustmobile.

I also worked at a body shop in the summers and on the weekends and holy moly was it something once we yanked out the casket stuff, added shag carpet and painted it metallic navy blue with a slight hint of purple. Talk about being different - and talk about the fun seeing the faces of everyone including the faces of my date's parents when I would pull into their driveways - hahahaha - great stuff. Rob s 62 Convertible used in My Cousin Vinny Over the years I have had cars and have always had a sentimental spot for these great machines - especially the ones with the fins. So a few years ago I read about this 1964 Caddy Sedan that was for sale and had been leased to 20th Century Fox for the 2010 filming of the exciting and bold super-hero thriller - X-MEN First Class!! It is funny in a way because the movie takes place for the most part in So I think the previous owner of this black beauty, Jimmy Wilfong, indicated this was a 1963 Cadillac - documented by the freight bill and description delivery report when the car was hauled from GA to CA for the movie. Any one of us in the club would see this was slightly out of place in the movie since this car was not built when the story in the movie took place. But maybe they thought in 1962 that it was possible that the '63 models were available. Maybe a stretch but it has crossed my mind. All that being said it is great fun to see my car in a movie that grossed over $350,000,000. So they did some decent work on the car to make it reliable for the actors to drive. If you watch the movie it is featured in several prominent scenes. They paid the previous owner $15,000 to lease the car for the filming. Part of the filming was in GA and the rest in CA. Rob runs the perfect license plate on his X-Men Cruiser

Currently I am replacing the radiator, the gas tank and taking care of a few leaks. I had some serious work done to clean up some rust that was poorly repaired over the years.

I have to commend our colleague Jason Edge for all his efforts to help us all and keep great things in print about the 1963 and 64 Cadillacs.

Rob spent more than originally paid for the car making it a stronger running 5 footer But as we all know - there is always something to do. Currently I am replacing the radiator, the gas tank and taking care of a few leaks. I had some serious work done to clean up some rust that was poorly repaired over the years. The car is in very good condition these days and runs terrific. I especially love the look of the re-chromed rear bumper. I have to commend our colleague Jason Edge for all his efforts to help us all and keep great things in print about the 1963 and 64 Cadillacs. Jason has also provided me with some great parts for this car. I have been to his place a couple of times as he lives about 2 hours away. He is a nice gentleman and a good resource for us all. I hope you will enjoy seeing photos from the movie and my garage at home in Lewisville, NC. I also have the 1962 convertible that was used in the movie My Cousin Vinny. I might sell the 1964 to use the funds to make something more special out of the '62. Time will tell. However, the 1964 runs and handles much better than the It is amazing the difference two model years makes in the handling of these vehicles.
