1 Blister/Bubble Packaging Blister Packaging or Bubble Packaging usually involves moulding clear plastic over a mould the same shape as the product. This allows the customer to be able to see the product without having to remove it from the packaging. The blister part of the packaging is the clear plastic which is usually vacuum formed polystyrene in large quantities in order to reduce any waste. These are then die cut or punched out into individual units and stuck onto the card backing. The backing usually has the facility to hang up the packaging on hooks in the shop on a shelf, stand or point of sale unit. Here are some examples of Blister Packaging This is very popular with stationary items and small children s toys. Some manufacturers are using biodegradable plastic that breaks down in sun light or with contact with moisture. Alternatively the plastic can be reused by recycling it. Sketch it and plan it out then make it using the best possible techniques available to you. You can make simple mould from MDF or Styrofoam. 4 Variations of Blister/Bubble Packaging Made in School. Ideas can be changed to make them different very easily using different materials in order to get a different aesthetic appearance. Use of metallic card helps change way the product looks.

5 Variations of Blister/Bubble Packaging Made in School. This Blister package is made in a different way. Instead of drilling holes around the area where the product is located to allow the air to be removed a slot is cut instead. Parts of the pack. The slot has a continuous line with gaps at intervals along it. This is neater and works better. The backing is polystyrene and is built up in layers of polystyrene and laser plywood. These have been left loose for easy removal after moulding the clear blister pack. The graphics are printed and are placed onto a template and are laser cut. The package is spot glued. A piece of plastazote foam is placed inside the snake chain of the key ring to stop it moving around.
