2 WHAT IS LED NEON FLEX? THE MOST VERSATILE AND SIMPLE LIGHTING SYSTEM YOU WILL EVER USE LED Neon Flex is a green friendly, safe, low voltage, DIY, easy to install, lineal long life lighting system that can be simply bent and cut to whatever your design requires for both indoors and out! SAFE EXTRA LOW 24 VOLT DC WALL WASH TYPE CLEAR LED NEON FLEX This type of LED Neon Flex is the same size and voltage as normal LED Neon, but is clear (you can see the LED dots). This type has a lens that projects the light like a beam which is great to wash walls with light as well as lighting bar facades, bottles etc.. Looks fantastic when lighting textured surfaces like brick, stone or wood. Clear type LED Neon is also used for long distance viewing angles such as tall buildings and bridges, as the light is more intense and can be seen from further distances. Form a distance it looks like normal LED Neon Flex or traditional glass neon. 3 STEP 1: PLAN YOUR JOB Good pre-planning of your LED Neon Flex job at the start makes for a very easy job down the track. The next couple of pages will help guide you through each step. 4 STEP 2: PICK THE RIGHT TRANSFORMER LED NEON FLEX RUNS ON A SAFE EXTRA LOW VOLTAGE OF 24 VOLT DC longer life. 5 STEP 3: PREPARE THE LED NEON FLEX UNPACK & UNROLL to the LED Neon this is ideal for extreme exterior environments for more information. TAKE DUE CARE LED Neon Flex is a hardy product but it is not a toy. The LED Neon Flex may look and feel like a normal garden hose, but remember it is full of small wires and technical circuitry so take due care. Do not bend backwards and forwards. The LED Neon Flex gains full strength when it is laid into the aluminum channel. CUTTING MARKS CUT THE NEON FLEX TO DESIRED SIZE ONLY CUT THE LED NEON FLEX ON THE PRINTED CUTTING MARKS LED Neon. 6 STEP 4: HOW TO ATTACH THE LED NEON FLEX LED Neon Flex can be installed on all kinds of surfaces including wood, plastic, steel and concrete according to your job or design. You attach the LED Neon Flex with specially designed aluminium channel. The LED applications and use the smaller sections for jobs requiring curves and bends. LONG LINEAL APPLICATIONS LIKE OUTLINES OF BUILDINGS Note: like ceiling coves you will not need the aluminium channel as the LED Neon Flex will just sit in cove. Do not puncture LED Neon Flex with + staples, nails, screws or any other sharp pointed material. This will void warranty. Check there are no protruding or sharp sections of the screw or bolt in bottom of the track. Any foreign objects pushing into the base of the LED Neon Flex will cause the product to fail by breaking the internal wires. This will void warranty. 2 METRE SECTIONS OF LED NEON FLEX ALUMINIUM CHANNEL. USE THE PRE-DRILLED HOLES ON THE TRACK TO SCREW TRACK DOWN. USE THE SMALLER 2CM ALUMINUM CHANNEL CLIP SECTIONS FOR JOBS REQUIRING CURVES AND BENDS. USE PRE-DRILLED HOLES TO SCREW CLIPS DOWN. 6

7 STEP 5: INSTALLING THE LED NEON FLEX TO TRACK CAREFULLY PUSH THE LED NEON INTO THE TRACK STARTING FROM ONE END. + DO NOT HAMMER THE PRODUCT INTO THE TRACK + DON T PUSH THE LED NEON IN TO THE TRACK FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS, THIS WILL CAUSE LUMPS IN THE LED. CAREFULLY PUSH THE LED NEON INTO THE TRACK STARTING FROM ONE END. 7

8 STEP 6: POWERING UP THE LED NEON FLEX OPTIONS OPTION 1: QUICK CONNECTOR OPTION FOR LIGHT DUTY APPLICATIONS LIGHT DUTY USE LED Neon Flex internal wires. Then silicone the end of LED Neon Flex if it is to be used outdoors. Then use heat gun to seal heat shrink around the join. 8

9 OPTION 2: POWER PLUG CONNECTION You need a LED Neon Flex power plug cable and power pin (Barbed one end). HEAVY DUTY USE Carefully push barbed pins into the LED Neon Flex internal wires with pliers. Barbed Quickly heat the plug end up with a heat gun to make it soft. Then push the plug onto the pins and LED Neon Flex. you have made a good connection by lighting up the LED Neon Flex. Then use heat gun to seal heat shrink around the join. 9

10 OPTION 3: EXTREME EXTERIOR CONDITIONS For example service stations, exterior building outlines and bridges. HEAVY DUTY USE Lay out your parts, put metal teeth into slots in the plastic Fill bottom shell with electrical grade silicone. Then cover any air gaps with electrical grade silicone ready for top shell. 10

11 Turn on and enjoy. OPTION 4: FACTORY MOULDED CABLE AND END CAP This is the best option for service stations, building exteriors and bridges. HEAVY DUTY USE end cap, silicone and heat shrink. This will give you the best protection from water damage to the LED. 11

12 STEP 7: SEAL THE END OF THE LED NEON FLEX 1 at the end of your run. 2 If used outdoors silicone around the top edge of the LED Neon Flex prior to installing the end cap. 3 Neon Flex, you can quickly heat up the end cap with the heat gun to make it easy to push on. 4 Then seal with the heat shrink and heat gun. 14 VERTICAL INSTALLATION NOTE Flex will pull down on itself and damage the internal wires. It is also recommended to put a bead of silicon between the LED Neon Flex and the aluminium channel as well as a stainless steel zip tie every 1.5 metres to help prevent slippage. EXTERIOR ENVIRONMENTS TAKE CARE THAT ALL POWER CONNECTORS & END CAPS ARE WATER TIGHT. Important things to remember in harsh outdoor environments like the exteriors of buildings, bridges etc. is to ensure that all connections are water tight. All power plug connections and end caps should be sealed with a neutral electrical silicone then covered with clear LED Neon Flex heat shrink to keep out any moisture. The LED Neon Flex has an air gap that runs through the tube, if moisture gets in it will cause the circuitry to rust, then the LED will fail. The most common early failure of any LED exterior product is water ingress, please ensure that all connections are water tight as water damage will void warranty. 14
