These problems maybe caused by the 3-4 shift valve and check ball capsule not being installed correctly. With the winter mode button pressed so the snow flake is illuminated it will slip in reverse. The rubber F check ball has become too small due to the normally high operating temperatures. 8 Technical Bulletin #987 Harsh -2 Upshift 0-06 GM Passenger Cars and Light Duty Trucks, Hummer H2, 06 Hummer H3,05-06 Saab 9-7X Harsh -2 Upshift The following four conditions have been found to cause the majority of consistent, harsh -2 shift comments. Chips/Sediment/Debris Contamination found in the valve body, -2 accumulator valve (37) bore, may cause the -2 accumulator valve to stick or hang up. A cracked -2 accumulator piston (56) that is allowing fluid to leak by. Chips/Sediment/Debris Contamination found in the valve body, 3-4 sequence valve (383) bore, may cause the 4-3 sequence valve to stick or hang up. Mislocated/Missing valve body-to-spacer plate check balls (6). When attempting to correct a consistent harsh -2 shift, the four conditions listed above should be inspected as possible causes. It is important to also refer to the appropriate Service Manual for further possible causes of this condition. FB Page of 2
