2 FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATING APPLCATIONS KLEENFLO for your average filter problem A permanent, all-metal, cleanable, viscous-impingement filter, the KLEENFLO provides excellent efficiency in air-conditioning and ventilating system. For greater dust-holding capacity and fewer cleaning interval use KLEENFLO. Layers of galvanized screen wire, in carefully selected sizes of mesh, are precisely arranged so that dust-laden air currents are broken up into hundreds of tiny currents. The coarse mesh on the approach face traps bulky materials. Media enclosing channels are galvanized steel. Drain holes speed up drainage during servicing. Heavy bail-wire handles are furnished on 2 and 4 thick filters when specified. KLEENFLO filters can be made of different metals to solve a specific problem. KLEENFLO filters are recommended for use only on forced draft ventilation. Optimum net face velocity is 356 fpm. Efficiency of all filters will vary with air velocity and type of dirt encountered. Filtering efficiency of a 2 thick KLEENFLO ranges to 60% at 356 fpm, using standardized test dust and methods. When tested with standardized test dust methods as follows: by weight, 57.7 % fine road dust, 20.0 % K-1 carbon black and 22.3% cotton linters, results increase to over 78%. Wide ranges of standard-size KLEENFLO filters are available. Thicknesses range from ½ to 4. Special-size rectangular filters are available up to 30 wide by required length; however sizes over 600 square inches in 1 thick and 700 in 2 thick are not recommended since they are difficult to handle. The KLEENFLO can be flushed with a solution of commercial cleaner and hot water, and then recoated with an adhesive. 3 FOR BULK AIR HANDLING SYSTEMS P5 for those difficult high-velocity problems A permanent, all-metal, cleanable, P5 filters are engineered to handle high face velocity air speeds ranging from fpm. By comparison, normal velocities are 356 fpm. Without compromising efficiency, the P5 will handle up to 50% more air. This true highvelocity filter is especially applicable where plenum chamber space is limited or where V or U type filter banks are not practicable. Special construction and materials can be furnished to meet specific applications. The P5 incorporates a unique Turbo-Flow filtering principle. Air chamber are formed by reversing Z crimped layers of galvanized wire stacked at 180 to each other, these channels create exceptionally high air turbulence, resulting in a wiping action as the air-entrained dirt impinges on the adhesive coated wire baffles. Enclosing channels are of galvanized steel, or other options (see chart). Labyrinthian air passages enable dirt to be deposited over a greater depth in the media, increasing the dirt-holding capacity of the P5. As a result, the static pressure drop is maintained at a relatively low level. Filter efficiency of the P5 is over 70% using standardized test dust methods. Standard sizes are available in 2 thickness. To clean the P5 filter, simply flush with a solution of commercial cleaner and hot water. Dry completely before re- application of adhesive. MODIFICATIONS FOR SPECIAL APPLICATIONS Special construction and materials can be furnished to meet special application requirements. The following materials are available for use where atmospheres are encountered which are corrosive to materials: P5A- Aluminum media, galvanizedsteel enclosing channel. P5AA-All Aluminum P5RR-Galvanized media and enclosing channel reinforced with expanded metal on both sides of the panel. P5S-Stainless steel enclosing channel with stainless steel media. 4 FOR ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR AIR INTAKE SYSTEMS P116 for ultra-fine filtration and oil-free air The P116 dry-type filter provides oil-free air and high efficiency filtration of fine particles. It too, is often used as final filter in multi filter systems. The filter is manufactured from a special polyester media. P116 panels are available in 2 or 4 thicknesses. Enclosing channels are 16 gage hot dipped galvanized steel. Filter media is encased between 2 layers of 3x3 galvanized wire cloth. Bail wire folding handles are provided when specified on the order. Efficiency: Standardized laboratory test on the P116 panel indicate virtually 100% arrestment of particles 7 microns in size and over 90% arrestment of 3 micron particles. Resistance: When clean, resistance to airflow through a 2 thick P116 is fpm and fpm. Through a 4 thick panel resistance is fpm and fpm. P116 filters are available in production quantities in any rectangular size up to 1050 square inches and/or a maximum length of 35 inches. P116 filters can be cleaned with compressed air or a commercial dry cleaning solvent. The P116 can also be washed in clear water, or a solution of water and a mild detergent. 5 TYPICALLY USED ON ENGINE AND COMPRESSOR AIR INTAKE SYSTEMS ALSO USED FOR ELECTRONIC CABINET FILTRATION NEEDS P61 for high efficiency on fine dirt Washable dry-type P61 filters are recommended for heating and ventilation applications where higher filtering efficiency is required on fine dirt particles. Maintenance is minimal. The P61 is a surface-loading filter that should not be reversed when dirty. Filter media is non-woven polyester encased between layers of aluminum screen cloth. Deeply pleated to afford maximum dirt-holding capacity, the filter media is made from materials included in the list of fungus inert materials. The standard P61 has a galvanized enclosing channel, while corrosion resistant finishes such as chemical conversion coating or anodize are available on the special P61AA aluminum styles. Filter efficiency of the P61 ranges to 71% at face velocity of 356 fpm using standardized test dust and methods. Resistance at 356 fpm through a 2 thick clean filter is.07 H2O and about.08 through a 1 filter. Varying velocities will not appreciably change efficiency. Standard sizes are available in nominal 1 and 2 thicknesses. Panels are available in less than 1 thicknesses on special order. The P61 can often be adequately cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. If necessary, excessive dirt can be removed by washing with water, or solution of water and mild detergent. 6 FOR ELECTRONIC CABINET FILTRATION P56 viscous impingement Designed for forced air cooling systems in cabinets housing electronic equipment, the P56 is an excellent choice where pressure drop is a concern. Multiple layers of crimped wire screen cloth arranged together to break up the air stream into small currents to impinge airborne dirt or entrained liquids on the adhesive coated wire baffles. Panels are available in P56A all aluminum construction or P56 all steel construction. Protective finishes for the P56 style are electro galvanized or cadmium plated, or chemical conversion coat and anodize for the aluminum style. Average dust arresting efficiency is 60% using standardized dust and testing methods, Resistance is.01 fpm to.03 H2O at 356 fpm. Wide ranges of standard-size P56 filters are available. Filter thicknesses range from ½ to 1. The P56 can be cleaned in water and detergent solution or a suitable Solvent. When dry, apply an even coat of adhesive. Flocked metal screen media provides higher efficiency filtration in forced draft applications Filter media is made from two layers of pleated flocked wire screen cloth, frame is available in P1A aluminum and P1 steel construction. Steel frames can be plated and aluminum frames can be anodized per MIL-A 8626, Type 2 or chemical coated per MIL-C- 5541, Type 1 Resistance:.080 fpm to.265 water at 356 fpm. Average dust arresting efficiency is 77% using standardized dust and testing methods. Wide ranges of standard-size P1 filters are available. Filter thickness is ½ -1. Metal media is not affected by temperature and not subject to mold or mildew. Filter media is made from multiple layers of crimped wire screen cloth. Panels can be made from R82A aluminum or R82 steel construction. Aluminum R82 panels can have a protective coating applied such as chemical coat per MIL-C-5541 type 1 or anodize per MIL-A-8625 type 2. Anodized panels will pass a standard 200 hour salt spray test. Resistance:.020 fpm to.060 water at 356 fpm. Average dust arresting efficiency is 70% using standardized dust and testing methods Wide ranges of standard-size R82 filters are available. 9 FOR MOUNTING YOUR PANEL FILTRATION NEEDS Heavy-Duty holding frames for all Falls Filtration Technologies Panels Your air filter installation is only as good as the panel holding frame Proper installation of air filter panels is extremely important. Air leakage around and past the filter will reduce the efficiency of your entire unit. The key to sealing any installation is the panel holding frame. If it is not leak proof, dirty air will bypass and defeat the purpose of your filter installation. Dependable Falls Filtration holding frames are manufactured with the same skill and precision as our filters are produced. They will provide maximum insurance against air leakage. Falls Filtration holding frames are made of 16 gage hot dipped galvanized steel. A polyester urethane gasket is bonded to the ¾ retaining flange. Positive sealing pressure around the perimeter of the panel is applied against the gasket flange by spring clips, spacer buttons are stamped into frame to assure proper centering of panel during installation. Multiple Panel Installation Falls filtration holding frames are supplied with bolt holes assembly into staggered, flat or V shaped panel banks. When ordering frames for panel banks it is advisable to submit a sketch indicating the space available, required air volume, direction of airflow and side of bank from which the panels will be serviced. This will help us supply the proper materials for your successful painless installation. A drain hole should be installed to facilitate the collection of any adhesive that may run off during service and installation. All joints should be caulked to prevent leakage. Holding frames are available to accommodate all standard size Falls Filtration panel filters. Special sizes can also be produced on quantity orders.
