1 Turbine Flow Meters Flow Technology Turbine Flow meters are commonly used in mission critical applications demanding superior accuracy, quality and reliability. Ideal for clean liquids and gases, such as fuels, hydraulic fluid, lubricating oils, DI water, industrial gases, process chemicals, etc. Principle of Operation Turbine Flow meter is a volumetric flow measuring instrument. The flow sensing element is a freely suspended, bladed rotor positioned axially in the flow stream with the flowing fluid pushing against the blades. The rotational speed of the rotor is proportional to the velocity of the fluid. Since the flow passage is fixed, the turbine rotors rotational speed is also a true representation of the volume of fluid flowing through the flow meter. The rotation of the turbine rotor generates electrical pulses in the pickoff that is attached to the flow meter housing in close proximity to the turning rotor. Each one of these pulses represents a discrete volume of fluid. The frequency or pulse repetition rate represents the volumetric flow rate and the accumulated pulse total represents the total volume measured.

The meter features 316SS construction, and has a smooth finish which is designed to eliminate cracks and crevices where bacteria breed. Available up to 250 GPM Omniflo turbine flow meters are tangential flow transducers capable of measuring very low flow rates in either liquid or gas. 4 Positive Displacement Flow Meters Positive displacement (PD) flow meters are the meter of choice for high viscosity or high pressure applications such as resins, polyurethanes, adhesives, paints, liquid sugars, syrups and for environments ranging from adhesive dispensing to methanol injection. Only two moving parts ensures reliability for critical applications. Principle of Operation FTI positive displacement flow meters use two rotating impellers driven by the flowing liquid. Magnets imbedded in the impellers activate a non-intrusive sensor which generates a pulsed output signal. Each pulse represents a known volume of liquid that is captured in between the lobes of the impellers.
