5 Introduction The IOA expansion cabinet dual line cords assembly is a field-installable upgrade option. It s designed to provide fault tolerance in the IOA expansion cabinet power system by selectively switching between two identical line cords. The instructions contained in this document describe how to install the dual line cords assembly. Any IOA expansion cabinet manufactured since May, 1990 can be upgraded. There are no VOS or FTX operating system restrictions. Power down the module. 2. Open the cabinet s front and rear doors. If there is an IOA chassis in the lower front and/or rear of the cabinet, open it by pressing the three locking tabs. (Figure 1).

6 Locking Tabs 3. From the rear of the cabinet, place the ac controller circuit breakers in the OFF position. (Figure 2.) even odd WARNING: To prevent personal injury and possible equipment damage, ensure that the circuit breakers are in the OFF position before disconnecting the ac line cord. 4. Disconnect the ac line cord. 5. From the lower rear of the cabinet, remove the four Phillips screws and washers securing the line filter cover to the standoffs. (Figure 3.)

8 7. Remove the 3/8 inch nuts securing the terminal block cable ground straps to the cabinet frame. (Figure 5.) 8. Disconnect the terminal block cable harness (AW ) from the rear of each of the ac controllers. 9. Disconnect the error-reporting cable (AW ) from each of the ac controllers. From the rear of the cabinet, remove each power module as follows:

9 12. Remove the screws securing the power module tray to the cabinet. (Figure 8.) 13. Slide the tray several inches out of the cabinet to allow access to the interconnect PCB at the rear of the control module tray.

10 14. Disconnect the error-reporting cable (AW ) from the interconnect PCB. (Figure 9.) Error Reporting Cable 15. Remove the error-reporting cable from the cabinet. Dual Line Cords Assembly Installation Perform the following procedure to install the dual line cords assembly. 1. From the rear of the cabinet, install the right-side line filter mounting bracket on the right side panel and secure it with 3 screws as shown in Figure 10.

11 2. Insert the terminal end of the right-side line cord into the cabinet as shown in Figure 11 and tighten the two screws. A B Screws C D

12 3. Connect the right-side line cord ground strap to the cabinet frame lug. Secure it with two 3/8 inch nuts. (Figure 12.) Ground Strap Connect one end of the line filter ground strap to the ground terminal lug on the line filter. Secure it with a 3/8 inch nut and washer. (Figure 13.) 5. Connect and secure the other end of the line filter ground strap to a cabinet frame lug. 6. Connect and secure the black wire from the line cord to the L1 terminal lug (line-cord side) on the line filter. (Figure 13.) 7. Connect and secure the white wire from the line cord to the L2 terminal lug.

13 To Cabinet Frame Lug Ground Strap Ground Lug Black Wire White Wire From Line Cord Align the right-side line filter with the holes on the mounting bracket. Use three 3/8 inch nuts to secure the filter to the bracket. (Figure 14.)

14 9. From the front of the cabinet, install a clipnut on each lower horizontal rail at the hole shown in Figure 15. Clipnut 10. From the front of the cabinet, carefully insert the selector module into the cabinet as shown in Figure Turn the selector module 90 and position it so that the locator holes on the horizontal rails line up with the locator holes on the sides of the selector module as shown in Figure Secure the selector module to the chassis by tightening the thumb screws.

16 13. Connect P1 and P2 into the connectors on the ac controllers as shown in Figure 19. P1 P2 14. From the rear of the cabinet, connect and secure the black terminal block wire on the left side of the selector module to the front L1 terminal lug on the left-side line filter. (Figure 20.) 15. Connect and secure the white wire to the front L2 terminal lug. 16. Connect and secure the strain-relief wire to the line filter bracket or cabinet frame. 17. Connect and secure the ground strap from the selector module to a terminal lug on the cabinet frame.

From the rear of the cabinet, connect and secure the black terminal block wire on the right side of the selector module to the front L1 terminal lug on the right-side line filter. (Figure 21.) 19. Connect and secure the white wire to the front L2 terminal lug. 20. Connect and secure the strain-relief wire to the line filter mounting bracket or cabinet frame. 21. 18 22. Align the left-side line filter cover with the four standoffs and secure it with four Phillips screws. (Figure 22.) Line Filter Cover Line Filter Standoff (4) 23. Repeat step 22. for the right-side line filter cover. 24. At the rear of the cabinet, connect 4P on the replacement error-reporting cable (AW ) to the interconnect PCB. (Figure 23.) 4P Error Reporting Cable 25. Connect 6P on the error-reporting cable to connector 6P on the rear of the selector module. (Figure 24.) 26. Connect 2P and 3P on the error-reporting cable to connector 4 on the ac controllers.

Install the four screws to secure it to the cabinet. (Figure 25.) 29. Install the power modules. 30. Plug in the ac line cords.

20 31. Place the circuit breakers on the ac controllers and the selector module to the ON position. (Figure 26.) 32. Close the IOA chassis and cabinet front and rear doors. 33. Reboot the module. Fault Indicators Two green LEDs labeled Left OK and Right OK are located on top of the selector module. They provide a visual indication of the status of the line cord inputs to the selector module. When the left-side and right-side line inputs are between 180 V ac and 264 V ac, the LEDs are on. When either side is in a power failure condition (<180 V ac), the corresponding LED turns off and a system error is generated which duplicates a dual ac controller failure. A fault signal is sent to the control module via the error-reporting cable. The control module reports the error to the operating system. The error log shows a failure of the selector module as an ac controller failure. Troubleshooting If either green LED on the selector module fails to light, check the following: Make sure all circuit breakers on the selector module and the ac controllers are in the ON position. Check that both line cords are plugged in. Check that all the cables associated with the dual line cords assembly are connected properly. Check the ac input voltage. Check for ac voltage on the output side of the line filter.
