3 Mount the thermal anemometer (TA) sensor or differential pressure transducer (DPT) through the wall between the controlled space (isolation room) and referenced space (anteroom/hallway). See Thermal Anemometer (TA) Sensor Installation on page 3 and Differential Pressure Transducer (DPT) Installation on page 4. Thermal Anemometer (TA) Sensor Installation IMPORTANT: Install the TA sensor through the wall between the controlled space (isolation room) and referenced space (hallway), exactly as shown in Figure 3. IMPORTANT: Do not touch the sensor element in the pressure sensor. Do not run wires through the air passage. Doing so will damage the sensing element. Determine the location for the TA sensor (Figure 1 and Figure 3). Mount the TA sensor in the reference space, and mount the dummy housing in the isolation room. Note: The TA sensor is not symmetrical. If the TA sensor is to be centered over the hallway door, measure one inch to the left of center for 21/4 in. (57 mm) hole. The dummy sensor will be 2 in. (51 mm) offcenter on the other side of the wall. 1. Orient the TA sensor on the wall as shown in Figure 2. Looking at the mounted sensor, the 21/4 in. (57 mm) sensor hole is on the left and wire hole is on the right. Figure 2: Pressure Sensor Orientation and Mounting Template Pressure Sensor Base Dimensions Proper Orientation On Wall 41/4 in. (57 mm) hole through each side of the wall to accept the sensor tube. 3. Drill a 7/8 in. (22 mm) hole on the side of the wall that the TA sensor will be mounted. This hole is for the sixconductor sensor cable. Refer to Figure 2 for a holemounting pattern. 4. Slide the sensor cover to the right and remove the screw that holds the sensor base to the TA sensor (Figure 2). Remove the pressure sensor and store it in a safe place. 5. From the side of the wall on which the TA sensor will be mounted, slide the sensor tube through the wall. Mark the tube where it is flush with the wall. 6. Remove the sensor tube and cut the tube 1/8 inch (3 mm) shorter than the flush marking. Note: If the 12 in. (305 mm) sensor tube needs to be extended, use same size or larger diameter tube. Drill a hole in the dummy case. The hole must be large enough to match the inside diameter of the tube used to extend the sensor tube. 7. From the side of the wall on which the TA sensor will be mounted, slide the sensor tube through the wall. 8. Slide the dummy base over the end of the tube. 9. Screw the pressure sensor base and dummy base to the wall (Figure 3). 3

4 10. Wire the pressure sensor as shown in Figure 7 to Figure 8. Run the sensor cable to the RPM. 11. Insert fire protection sealant (provided) into the 7/8 in. (22 mm) wire hole to seal it. 12. Install and screw the pressure sensor and dummy cover onto the bases. Slide the covers to the left to hide the sensor. The finished installation should look like Figure 3. Figure 3: TA Sensor Installation (Left) and Cutaway View of Installed TA Sensor (Right) Front View Proper Orientation Cover Slides To Right Ceiling Half the distance between the ceiling and the door jamb Dummy Cover Pressure Sensor Black FireSealant Ring (must insert into a 21/4 in. 6 Wiring IMPORTANT: Do not apply voltage to the RS485 output, output, analog output, or control output. Severe damage may occur to the unit if voltage is applied. IMPORTANT: IMPORTANT: regulations. Do not connect more than 24 VAC to any terminal. Use copper conductors only. Make all wiring in accordance with local, national, and regional IMPORTANT: Do not exceed the unit s electrical ratings. Exceeding the unit s electrical ratings can result in permanent damage to the modules and void any warranty. IMPORTANT: Run all lowvoltage wiring and cables separate from all highvoltage wiring. Shielded cable is strongly recommended for input (sensor) and analog output cables that are exposed to high electromagnetic or radio frequency noise. IMPORTANT: Electrostatic discharge can damage the unit. Use proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) precautions during installation and servicing to avoid damaging the unit. IMPORTANT: Do not connect supply power to the unit before checking all wiring connections. Short circuits or improperly connected wires can result in damage to the unit and void any warranty. Recommendations Use 18 to 22 AWG (1.0 to 0.6 mm diameter) stranded wire. Follow good wiring practices: Control cables should cross power cables at a 90degree angle. Use a consistent color code to maintain polarity. Use a star configuration (homerun wiring) for control signals. Do not use a series configuration (daisychain wiring). Use series configuration (daisychain wiring) for connecting the nurses station display (NSD) to room pressure monitors (RPMs) and room pressure controllers (RPCs). Procedure 1. Remove the connectors from the back of the RPM. 2. Refer to the wiring diagrams (Figure 7 to Figure 18) for proper wiring installation. If additional options need to be wired, refer to building prints for proper wiring diagram. 3. Plug the connectors back into the RPM. 4. Carefully push the wires into the electrical box and mount the RPM. Install four screws to hold pressure monitor firmly to base. Install cover and slide left to hide display. 5. Press the cover plate onto the RPM. 6
