Application Versatility The CB-334E, CB-334E XW asphalt compactor and the CB-335E combi asphalt compactor are designed to work in a number of different compaction applications. They can be used as the only compactor on small to intermediate sized jobs or on larger jobs in conjunction with high-production models. The CB-334E, CB-334E XW and CB-335E are true 4 ton rollers. They are not stretched versions of 2.5 ton machines like most competitive units. Engine Cat 3024C diesel engine delivers 37.3 kw (50 hp) and is built for performance and reliability with excellent fuel economy. pg. 4 Vibratory System Pod-style eccentric weights ensure peak compaction performance and minimal service. High dynamic force helps achieve density in the fewest number of passes. 3 Visibility The one-piece hood design and vertical Operator s Station The new CB-334E, CB-334E XW folded drum supports provide excellent operator visibility to important areas of the machine including drum edges, drum surfaces, and overall visibility around the machine. Conveniently located and grouped control switches and gauges enhance operator productivity and reduce fatigue. Heavy-duty isolation mounts provide a smooth ride. pg. 5 Instrumentation The newly designed instrument panel integrates a cluster of light indicators along with a fuel level indicator and a service hour meter to provide simplified operation. A new engine start switch incorporates a preheat switch to assist in cool weather starting. pg. 5 Serviceability The one-piece fiberglass hood opens upward to allow access to the engine and daily maintenance points. Easy-to-understand instrument panel with fuel level indicator, hour meter and light indicators for machine functions allows the operator to quickly verify the status of the machine systems. Ignition key switch. It automatically enables the engine pre-heat system. Engine throttle control. Engine throttle control is located on the right side of the control console pedestal. Steering wheel. Steering control knob allows efficient control while maneuvring through turns. Lockable cover. The lockable cover protects instrumentation and gauges. Operator s Station The machines for EC territories are equipped with a suspended seat with switch that prevents movement of the machine if the operator is not seated. Seat. Self-Adjusting scrapers. Each drum is fitted with two retractable, spring-loaded, self-adjusting scrapers, positioned at the front and rear of each drum. Tires Enhance Versatility CB-335E Tires manipulate the mat under and between its wheels. Front drum and rear rubber tires. Steel front drum and rubber tires at the rear allow a single machine to function as both a double drum and pneumatic compactor. Rubber tires. Four rubber tires (7.5x60 6-ply) generate a high ground contact pressure that penetrates deep into the lift. Flexible tires. Because the tires are flexible, horizontal pressures develop, assisting with compaction. Adjustable scraper. Each tire is fitted with a replaceable, adjustable scraper. External engine components, hydraulics and routine service points are clustered in easy-to-access locations. Spray nozzles and filters. The instrument panel cluster integrates the fuel level indicator, service hour meter and also the light indicators for: roading lights, secondary brake, hydraulic oil temperature, engine coolant temperature, alternator, engine oil pressure, vibration on, engine preheat and the turn signals. The vibratory system is actuated with a switch on the top of the propel lever. When the vibratory system is activated, a vibration indicator light illuminates. The engine throttle control is located on the right side of the control console pedestal. If equipped with optional light packages,the switches are located on the control console. The machine is protected from vandalism with several covers. The control console, the hood and the literature compartment are equipped with lockable covers. Water Spray System Transmission CB-334E and CB-334E XW Variabledisplacement piston pump supplies pressure flow to fixed-displacement hydraulic motors that drive the front and rear drums. CB-335E Variable-displacement piston pump supplies pressure flow to a fixeddisplacement hydraulic motor that drives the front drum, and the pump supplies pressure flow to two fixed-displacement motors that drive the rear wheels. For the three machines, a propel lever located at the operator s station provides smooth control of the infinitely variable speeds in both forward and reverse. Speed Forward and reverse km/h Final Drives CB-334E and CB-334E XW High-torque, low-speed hydraulic motors directly drive each drum. CB-335E High-torque, low-speed hydraulic motor directly drives the front drum, and two high-torque, low-speed hydraulic motors directly drive the rear wheels. Priority-demand hydraulic power-assist steering system provides smooth, firm machine handling. Triple filtration includes a filter on the tank fill spout, an in-line filter at the water pump and filters on each spray nozzle. Spray nozzles are easily removed without tools for cleaning. 10 Electrical System Sound Levels Wheels and Tires The 12-volt electrical system includes one maintenance-free Cat battery and color-coded and numbered wiring wrapped in nylon braid. The system includes a 55-amp alternator. The starting system provides 750 cold cranking amps. The operator sound level measured according to the procedures specified in ISO 6394:1998 is 80 db(a). The labeled sound power level is 109 db(a) measured according to the test procedures and conditions specified in 2000/14/EC. CB-335E 7.5 x 16 6-ply tires are standard. Each tire is equipped with a replaceable scraper. The scrapers help clean asphalt or soil off the tires. The scrapers can be retracted when they are not needed. An optional traction control device on the rear tires provide more power when the machine is working on uneven conditions. Frame Service Refill Capacities Tire Wetting System Fabricated from heavy gauge steel plate and rolled sections. The two sections are joined by two hardened steel pins that are supported by heavy-duty roller bearings. A vertical pin provides a ±35 steering angle and the frame/yoke provides ±9 oscillation for a smooth ride and uniform drum loading. The ROPS meets ISO 3471 and EN Sun Canopy is a thermo-formed plastic structure that blocks the operator s station from the sun. Structure is bolted to the ROPS. Work Light Package consists of two front headlights and one independent rear work light. Roading and Working Light Package consists of two front headlights, two rear taillights, two front-position lights, turn signals, hazard lights and one independent rear work light. Rotating Beacon includes an amber beacon and mount that can be attached to machines with or without ROPS. Spark Arrestor Muffler helps eliminate burning carbon particles that can exit the muffler. Suspension Seat provides armrests, fore/aft and height adjustments. Suspension Seat with Seat Switch provides armrests, fore and aft adjustment and a seat switch. The seat switch prevents movement of the machine when the operator is not seated. Coco Mats retain water as it is distributed by the water spray system. The mats allow water to seep out of them, providing continuous water distribution to drum surfaces. Water Distribution Mats provide continuous water distribution to drum surfaces. Tire Wetting System allows a solvent to be sprayed on the tire surfaces, helping prevent asphalt from adhering to the tires. One spray nozzle is positioned above each tire. The system is controlled with an on/off switch on the control console. The system is fed by a 20 liters tank located on the left side of the operator s station (CB-335E only). Engine Tachometer displays engine speed (rpm) on an analog dial. Non-Machined Drum Edges have a square profile. When working on straight runs, a square profile may reduce marks in the mat. If desired, the square profile can be machined (CB-334E only). Rear Tires Traction control transfers torque between the 4 tires to provide more power when the machine is working on uneven conditions (CB-335E only). High ambient Cooling provides the capability to achieve greater production rates at high ambient temperatures, up to 49 degrees C. Drum-End Guard System helps prevent material from entering ends of drums. 10
