2 Heat Soak Button Installation SAFETY CAUTION! ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD! Do not attempt to do this installation without making sure the SR60 machine is disconnected from electrical power source! It is highly recommended that a qualified electrician perform this installation! 2

4 Installation Instructions Mark location of Heat Soak button as shown. Place plastic sheet or garbage bag over electrical box to protect electrical parts from metal filings. Check to ensure that there are no wires in the way then drill pilot hole. 4

5 Drill (with a unibit only) or punch a 7/8 (22mm) diameter hole Apply the Heat Soak Decal over the hole 5

6 Pry yellow lock protector off the blue button assembly with a screw driver. Push lock switch and remove contact block. Install blue button as shown, making sure the button is oriented correctly. Tighten firmly. 6

7 Reinstall contact block. Lock and reinstall lock protector. Install supplied contact in the center of the Push/Pull Emergency Stop button 7

8 Remove jumper wire from L1 on controller and terminal 4 on left temperature controller. 8

9 Carefully remove the wires from the controller, making sure each wire is clearly labeled 1 to 6 (blue arrow). For simplicity, label Q1 1 and 2, Q2 3 and 4, etc. 9

10 When all wires have been removed and labeled, use a screw driver to unlock and remove the controller as shown. Snap in the new controller. (The new controller has the 2 extra outputs needed to run the Heat Soak feature) Reinstall all the wires on the new controller in exactly the same place as on the old controller. 10

11 Connect wires as shown, green to green (jumper top wire on new contact to contact on left side top), red to red (top left contact on blue button to bottom left contact on Push/Pull button) and blue to blue (bottom center contact on Push/Pull button to #9 on plug in base type counter or on earlier machines, #5 on terminal type counter inset photo). 11

12 Connect wires as shown, yellow to yellow (bottom left contact on blue button to I7 on controller), green to green (bottom right contact on blue button to I8 on controller), and red to red (L1 on controller to fuse) Take care to run the wires along the existing wiring paths and tie neatly with the tie wraps provided. Install the new wiring diagram (provided) over the old one on the inside of the control panel as shown. 12

14 Operating Procedure Heat Soak This feature allows the operator to bring the surface temperature of the asphalt up to the maximum allowable and hold it there, allowing the heat to penetrate more deeply without burning. When asphalt reaches desired temperature, push the Blue Heat Soak button to initiate one of the sequences below when carriage reaches home position. (***One cycle = carriage travel from home position to the front and back to home ) There are two Heat Soak settings: A. Single Cycle Heat Soak use this setting on very hot days. 1 cycle burners OFF 1 cycle burners ON 1 cycle burners OFF 1 cycle burners ON 1 cycle burners OFF 1 cycle burners ON Shut Off B. Two-Cycle Heat Soak use this setting on cooler days 1 cycle burners OFF 2 cycle burners ON 1 cycle burners OFF 2 cycle burners ON 1 cycle burners OFF 2 cycle burners ON Shut Off At any time the Heat Soak sequence can be re-initiated by pushing the blue button At any time during the Heat Soak sequence it is possible to switch from Single to two cycle Heat Soak sequences IMPORTANT: Make sure you set enough cycles on the cycle counter to complete Heat Soak sequence, or it will shut off prematurely 14
