1 DPS Telecom Your Partners in Network Alarm Management Using the Thermalogic Temp Sensor Instructions for Using the Thermalogic Temperature Sensor with a NetGuardian This document is to be used for installation and configuration of the Thermologic Temperature Sensor (Model: WA ). With power removed from unit make necessary connections. Note: The Thermologic temperature sensor is to be powered by a supply voltage ranging from 9 VDC to 24 VDC. The 2.7K Ohm resistor in line with the power is used so that the same supply (48Vdc) used to power the NetGuardian 216 can be used to power the sensor. a. Connect Ground to (+) of sensor. b. Connect (-) from sensor to B side of the analog channel on the NetGuardian. This example shows analog channel 1. c. Connect (+) from the A side of the NetGuardian to resistor. Solder resistor to wire. d. Use 1/8 shrink wrap to cover solder joint. Apply heat to shrink tubing. e. Connect the other side of the resistor to the Battery. 2 Using the Thermologic Temp Sensor with a NetGuardian Example: NetGuardian 216 Temperature Probe Resistor in Analog 1 - Red ( ) -Battery Black (+) GND To battery Position the sensor as shown above, with (circled) potentiometers at the bottom.

3 Using the Thermologic Temp Sensor with a NetGuardian Alternatively, a 12VDC source, or DC-DC converter can be used to provide the most accurate 12VDC. Example: NetGuardian 216 Temperature Probe -48V GND - Red ( ) Black (+) For a NetGuardian G4 or G5: Verify that the Analog channel to be used on the NetGuardian as the current Jumper installed. You can change the settings for analog alarm inputs by resetting the jumpers on NetGuardian s circuit board. To open the unit and expose the circuit board, remove the screws on the bottom and the screws on the sides of the NetGuardian. Slide the top cover off. The image above shows the circuit board and the location of the adjustable jumpers.

5 Access panels on the NetGuardian 834A/864A G5: By default, all the adjustable jumpers are open. for analog alarm input jumpers, the open position corresponds to voltage input, and the closed position corresponds to current input. To configure your NetGuardian to read from this sensor, use the web browser interface. Open a web browser and type in the IP address of your NetGuardian. Logon to the unit. 6 From the green Edit menu, click on Analogs. NetGuardian 216 G3 web browser NetGuardian 832A G4 & NetGuardian 832/864A G5 web browser For a NetGuardian G4 or G5: Click on the Units link for the channel you wired the sensor to. For the NetGuardian 216 G3: You ll begin at the (Basic) Analogs screen. Enter the following scaling in the fields as shown by the screen capture. The scaling shows that when the Net Guardian reads a 1Vdc drop across the current loop resistor, the sensor is reading 20ºF, and when the NetGuardian reads a 5Vdc drop across the current loop resistor, the sensor is reading 180ºF. 7 NetGuardian 216 G3 web browser ** Enter a description for this channel, as well as your threshold values. These values are based on the converted voltage. (actual temperature readings). ** Note: To enable the channel, the check box next to the Description must be checked. To verify functionality, click on the Analogs in the Monitor menu.
