3 HISTORY... In 1961, 31 Inc. was founded by Bob Cornell, nephew of the originator of Tech Rubber. After working 15 years for Tech, Bob broke away to start his own company at the age of 32. Searching for a name, Bob remembered the story of how Phillips 66 Oil Company was named using the age of its founder. Liking the idea, he attempted to name his company 32. Trademarks blocked his attempt, so he decided on the name 31 Incorporated. While it seems a more fitting name, our brand name X-tra Seal tends to be easily forgotten. 31 Inc. is easily remembered and also translates easily into other languages. Since 1985, 31 Inc. has experienced dramatic growth not only domestically, but also in the international marketplace. With its International Headquarters located in the small farming community of Newcomerstown, OH USA, hundreds of families worldwide depend on 31 Inc. for their livelihoods. QUALITY... Dedicated to manufacturing quality tire repair materials, 31 Inc. has implemented rigorous quality control procedures. In house quality measurement and control is assigned to trained individuals who closely monitor production at every stage of manufacturing. Every incoming and 31 Inc. mixed batch is tested against predetermined standards. These standards have been proven by many years of successful product performance in the field. Raw materials as well as finished products are tested in 31 Inc. s modern lab which contains various pieces of high-tech equipment including a variety of special test equipment developed and used exclusively by 31 Inc. Controlled and reported properties include tensile strength, modulus, elongation, hardness, specific gravity, viscosity, and cure rate. These properties and characteristics are essential in establishing and maintaining consistently high quality production. TRAINING & EDUCATION Inc. is committed to training and educating industry personnel on the application of tire repair materials. As part of our training and education program, 31 Inc. offers X-tra Seal repair videos. These repair videos, dealing with subjects such as puncture and section repairs, show the proper methods of performing tire repairs recommended by the RMA, TIA, all major tire manufacturers, and responsible manufacturers of tire repair materials. As part of our training and education program, 31 Inc. conducts on-site training for distributors, technicians, and users. Our qualified regional instructors, all of whom have over 20 years experience in the tire repair industry and many over 40 years, teach proper industry recommended repair procedures and practices, giving technicians, installers, and users practical hands-on experience. RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT... Research and development of new and existing products is conducted by 31 Inc. qualified chemists and engineers. Outside laboratories are used when tests are needed to evaluate product and cannot be conducted in house. The BF Goodrich Research and Development Testing Center, the world famous Standard Testing Labs, and other prominent Akron, OH area testing facilities are used. The chemists, engineers, and technicians working with 31 Inc. have over 100 years of combined experience in rubber and rubber products R & D. This experience has been gained not only at 31 Inc., but also in years of working for major companies such as Goodyear, Cooper, Kex, and Hercules. 5 APPLICATION: Tube repairs are non-reinforced and designed principally for use on inner tubes. These repair units are twice as strong as the tube being repaired and have a feather-edge design to prevent chaffing. When repairing inner tubes, buttonhole the ends of the injury and select a repair unit at least twice as large as the injury being repaired. 8 RADIAL REPAIRS APPLICATION: C-O-I (Center Over Injury) Radial Repairs are designed for use in puncture, reinforcement, and section repairs in any repairable area of a passenger, truck, agricultural, or earthmover radial tire. C-O-I Radial Repairs are extremely strong yet very flexible. Euro-Style C-O-I Radial The Euro-Style C-O-I Radial is a unit molded style repair unit with a one-piece appearance. Each of the radially directed plies is specifically end-cut and wrapped to float inside the patch, preventing end cracking or break out common in competitive brands. These repairs are black with premium blue vulcanizing gum and molded on a white mylar backing. The face stock used in our Euro-Style C-O-I will vulcanize chemically, in low temperature or high heat curing systems when applied with our vulcanizing cement. These lightweight, quality repair units are made of one directional plies and high quality rubber compound to ensure cool, long-running performance. When installed, the radial sidewall repair unit should extend from the bead area to the center of the tread area. 12 BIAS-PLY REPAIRS CP Bias-Ply / CPT Bias-Ply Agricultural CP bias-ply repair units are designed for use in puncture, reinforcing, or section repairs and can be applied in any repairable area of a tube or tubeless bias-ply tire. The reinforcing plies are protected and encased in a molded ply package making the repair unit strong while remaining flexible. The face stock used in our CP repair units will vulcanize either chemically or in a low temperature (precure) system when applied with our vulcanizing cement. This repair unit is black with gray vulcanizing gum on a blue poly backing.
