If this difference falls below the adjusted switch-off difference "DToff, the loading function will be switched off. Loading of the store will also be switched-off or suppressed if the collector is blocked (see collector minimum limitation) or if the store is at maximum limitation. Store maximum limitation Tstmax adjustment range C factory setting 60 C DTstmax adjustment range 1, ,0 K factory setting 2,0 K If the adjusted maximum temperature Tstmax is exeeded, the loading of the store is stopped. If the store cools down by more than 2 K (hysteresis), the store will be loaded again. Store emergency shutdown Tstsec adjustment range C factory setting 90 C DTstsec adjustment range 1, ,0 K factory setting 2,0 K 10 If the cooling options are activated (e.g. collector cooling), the store will be loaded beyond the adjusted maximum temperature. In order to avoid too high temperatures in the store, the emergency shutdown of the store is additionally provided, which also blocks the store for the cooling options. If the store temperature reaches the adjusted value Tstsec, the emergency shutdown is activated.
Collector cooling function collector cooling selection Yes, No factory setting: No TColmax adjustment range C Werkseinstellung 110 C DTColmax adjustment range 5, ,0 K factory setting 5,0 K The collector cooling function starts, when the adjusted maximum collector temperature is reached. If this temperature is underrun by the adjusted hysteresis, this function is switched off. The collector is cooled via heat transfer to the store. The pump output (provided that it is activated) is controlled with maximum relative pump speed. Note: The maximum collector temperature Tcolmax can be 10 K lower than the collector emergency shutdown temperature and 10 K higher than the maximum store temperature (blocking). Collector emergency shutdown Tcolsec adjustment range C factory setting 130 C DTcolsec adjustment range K factory setting 10 K At high collector temperatures (depending on system pressure or antifreeze concentration etc.) the systems stagnates. This means that solar loading is t possible. If the adjusted temperature threshold Tcolsec is exceeded, the collector will longer be used for loading. Collector minimum limitation ColleCtor minimal. selection: Yes, No factory setting: No tcolmin adjustment range C factory setting 10 C DTcolmin adjustment range 0, ,0 K factory setting 2,0 K A collector is considered to be blocked, if it has t reached the adjusted minimum temperature or if the collector blocked condition is fulfilled. Recooling recooling selection: Yes, No factory setting: No If the adjusted maximum store temperature has been reached, the solar pump remains on in order to prevent the collector from being overheated. During this process, the store temperature may increase, but only up to the adjusted store emergency shutdown temperature. In the evening, the system remains on until the store has been cooled down to its adjusted maximum store temperature via the collector and the pipework. Frost protection Frost protection selection: Yes, No factory setting: No As soon as the temperature at the collector is 4 C, the frost protection function operates the loading circuit between the collector and the store in order to protect the medium in the loading circuit against freezing or coagulation. If the collector temperature exceeds 5 C, this function is switched-off. The pump output uses maximum pump speed. 11
Antifreeze type antifr. type selection Tyfo LS, Ethylene, Propylene, Water factory setting: Propylene Adjustment channel for the heat transfer fluid used. Antifreeze ratio antifreeze ratio adjustment range % factory setting 40 % Adjustment channel for the glycol concentration in the heat transfer fluid. The concentration of proylene-glycol in the water-glycol mixture should t exceed 50 %. Flow rate Flow rate adjustment range 1, ,0 l/min factory setting 3,0 l/min Adjustment channel for the value (in l/min) read from the window of the FlowCheck (at 100% pump speed). The solar heat quantity calculation uses this value as well as the values entered in the antifreeze type and concentration channels. S1 and S2 are used as the reference sensors (flow/return). Tube collector function tube collector selection: Yes, No factory setting: No interval adjustment range min factory setting 30 min runtime adjustment range s factory setting 30 s start adjustment range 00: :59 factory setting 07:00 stop adjustment range 00: :59 factory setting 19:00 This function helps overcome n-ideal sensor position with some tube collectors and compensates for the delayed temperature measurement. This function operates within a given time frame ( start and stop ). It activates the collector circuit pump for 30 seconds (adjustable via the parameter runtime ) every 30 minutes at collector standstill (adjustable via the parameter interval ). If the collector sensor is defective or if the collector is blocked, this function is suppressed or switched-off. The collector circuit is operated at minimum pump speed. Speed control Min. speed adjustment range % factory setting 10 % DTset adjustment range K factory setting 10 K rise adjustment range K factory setting 2 K 12 The controller is equipped with a PWM output for controlling a high-efficiency pump. Relative pump speed is adapted in 1%-steps to the current temperature difference between collector and store bottom. The parameter "DTset is used as a set value for pump speed control. The parameter rise determines at which change of temperature difference ( rise divided by 10) the speed will be increased. In some cases, it is necessary to increase the factory setting of the minimum pump speed (10%).
Relay mode Relay mode selection Off, Auto, Min., Max. factory setting Auto In this menu, the relay can be set into different modes: Off Auto Min. (minimum speed) Max. (maximum speed) If "Off", "Min." or "Max." is selected, the symbol will be shown on the status display. Pump characteristic PWM selection Solar PM 15/80, linear, Off factory setting Solar PM 15/80 High-efficiency pumps convert the PWM signal in different ways and independently of the speed measured by the controller and indicated on the display. At 90% pump speed, pumps with the Solar PM characteristic provide additional power (booster function). Pumps with a linear characteristic have continuously increase in power. 6. Messages In the case of an error, a message is shown in the status display. If there are several messages, only the message having the highest priority is shown in the status display. All other recently detected errors and messages respectively are listed above the balance values (keep button 3 pressed for 2 seconds). Defective sensors broken Defective sensors are shown in the status display. 0% broken Error S1 defect. The defective sensor is indicated: If the cable of a temperature sensor is broken, broken is displayed, if the cable of a temperature sensor is shortcircuited, short is displayed. Warning n-return valve n-ret. valve selection Yes, No factory setting No Warning DT too high DT too high selection Yes, No factory setting No This message is shown if between 10 p.m. and 5.00 a.m. a store is loaded. The alam message is released, when the condition mentioned above is fulfilled for at least 1 minute. This prevents the alarm message from being released by short-term disturbances. This message is shown, if solar loading has been carried out for a period of 20 minutes with a differential higher than 50 K. 13
7. Troubleshooting No indication is made on the display. Pump starts for a short moment, switches-on/off again, etc. Check the power supply. Is it disconnected? The fuse of the controller could be blown. It can be replaced after the front cover has been removed (spare fuse is enclosed in the accessory bag). Check the supply line and reconnect it. Is the temperature difference at the controller too small? Wrong position of the collector sensor? Change Ton and Toff correspondingly. o.k. Pump is overheated, but heat transfer from the collector to the store, flow and return have the same temperature; perhaps also bubble in the lines Plausibility control of the tube collector function Mount the collector sensor at solar flow (warmest collector output); use the immersion sleeve of the respective collector. Air in the system? Is the collector circuit blocked at the dirt trap? Vent the system; in crease system pressure to at least static primary pressure plus 0,5 bar; if necessary increase the pressure, switch the pump on and off for a short time Clean the dirt trap The temperature difference between the store and the collector increases ermously during operation; the collector circuit cant divert the heat. Collector circuit pump defective? Check / replace it Pump starts up very late. Heat exchanger calcified? Switch-on-temperature difference Ton too large? Decalify it Non-ideal position of collector sensor (e.g. flatscrew sensor instead of sensor in immersion sleeves?) Change Ton and Toff correspondingly Activate tube collector function if necessary. o.k. Heat exchanger blocked? Heat exchanger too small? Clean it Replace with correctly sized one 14
Stores cool down at night. Does the collector circuit pump run in the night? At night, the collector temperature is higher than the outdoor temperature. Check controller. Check the n-return valve in flow and return pipe with regard to the functional efficiency. Sufficient store insulation? Increase insulation. Insulation close eugh to the store? Are the store connections insulated? Replace insulation or increase it. Insulate the connections. Warm water flow upwards? Change connection and let the water flow sidewards or through a siphon (bow downwards); less store losses w? a Check the n-return valve in warm water circulation- o.k. The solar circuit pump does t run although the collector is significantly warmer than the store. Does the control LED flash? Does the pump start up in manual operation? The gravity circu lation in the circulation line is too strong; insert a stronger valve in n-return valve or an electric 2-port valve behind the circulation pump; in pump operation, the 2-port valve is open, other wise it is closed, conect pump and 2-port valve in parallel; activate circulation again! Is the pump current released by the controller? b Further pumps which are connected to the solar store must also be checked. Clean or replace No current; check fuses / replace them and check power supply. The adjusted temperature difference for starting the pump is to high; choose a value which makes more sense. Is the pump stuck? Does warm water circulation run for a very long time? o.k. Use the circulation pump with timer and switch-off thermostat (energy efficient circulation) Turn the pump shaft using a screwdriver; w passable? Circulation pump and blocking valve should be switched-off for 1 night; less store losses? a Check whether the pumps of the after-heating circuit runs at night, check n-return valve; problem solved? b Are the controller fuses o.k.? Replace the fuses. Pump is defective - replace it Controller might be defective - replace it. 15
8. Accessories Sensors Our product range includes high-precision platinum temperature sensors, flatscrew sensors, cylindrical clip-on sensors and other temperature sensors, also as complete sensors with immersion sleeve. Overvoltage protection device In order to avoid overvoltage damage at collector sensors (e.g. caused by local lightning storms), we recommend installing the overvoltage protection SP10. Flowmeter If you wish to carry out a heat quantity measurement, you need a flowmeter for measuring the flow rate in your system. 16
