3 Mobile Chipper ST The chipping unit consists of a drum chipper complete with its own diesel engine and electrical and hydraulic systems. The chipping unit includes a mounting frame. The unit is to be installed on a customer-supplied carrier vehicle with corresponding payload capacity and dimensions. The vehicle must have a crane that is powered from a source other than the chipper engine. The chipping unit is intended for the production of fuel chips or chips for the board industry. The chipper is principally dimensioned for processing brushwood and parts of trees. Occasional full trees and logs with diameters up to 50 cm (max. 40 cm for hardwood) may also be processed. Standard equipment: Chipping unit drum chipper with welded housing and exchangeable bottom sweep of Hardox steel. Chipper drum, dia. 800 mm, with progressive shape, 2 knives and easily exchangeable wear parts. Rotor speed 950 rpm (approx.) at maximum engine racing rpm ensures high-torque chipping and smooth chipping operation. Chip length adjustable mm with standard rotor or mm with rotor for long chips. Safety equipment with sensors for indicating the position of the anvil holder, rotor stopped and chipper hood locked. The chipper is designed for easy and safe maintenance. The knives are easily accessible through the hood that opens hydraulically via its push-button. 3

This knife system can achieve an infeed speed of approx 1 m/sec which is ideal for this type of material. (High infeed speed = high chipper capacity also for bulky material) (Mainly used in Middle Europe) Drum with 2 full length knives for chip length mm. Same design as drum with Art Nr but for longer chips. (Normal drum for chippers in Scandinavia ) Drum with 2 pcs of ½ length displaced knives for chip length mm. A drum for making short chips from mainly bigger logs but also small trees, logging slash. With this knife system we have reduced the infeed speed by 50 % down to approx ½ m/sec, which will give the chipper engine better chances to keep the engine speed without a frequent on/off of the infeed system. Less vibrations and less diesel consumption at chipping of logs especially when chipping big logs (Still a very high chipper capacity) Drum with 2 pcs of ½ length displaced knives for chip length mm. Outer roller have separate hydraulic motor. The feed table can be closed (=no waste/dirt on the ground) if the half-round covers are mounted under the rollers.

5 Infeed tables Infeed table with spiked roller foldable Infeed table with 3 spiked rollers on the part of the table closest to the chipper plus one separate driven roller on a foldable table extension. A hydraulic motor drives the roller closest to the chipper. The other two rollers are driven by a chain drive from the hydraulically driven roller. Outer roller have separate hydraulic motor. The feed table can be closed (=no waste/dirt on the ground) if the half-round covers are mounted under the rollers. If the covers are removed, sand, bark and dirt can fall out like from a roller screen to avoid/reduce wear on the chipper knives. Recommended if the transport height is not critical and important Sliver breaker grates (exchangeable wear parts) Sliver breaker grate with 60 mm slots (pitch 68 mm) Sliver grate at the discharge opening from the chipper drum with 60 mm slots between the bars. The sliver breakers are designed to reduce the number of over sized chips without a production of dust in the chips. Used for production of smaller chips (20 35 mm). Small openings in the sliver breaker grate brings higher wear, higher fuel consumption and a lower chipper capacity. (Mainly used in Middle Europe) Sliver breaker grate with 90 mm (pitch 100 mm) Sliver grate at the discharge opening from the chipper drum with 90 mm slots between the bars. Used for production of medium sized chips (30 35 mm). Same design as sliver breaker with Art Nr but for longer chips. Sliver breaker grate with 133 mm (pitch 143 mm) Sliver grate at the discharge opening from the chipper drum with 133 mm slots between the bars. Used for production of longer chips (35 40 mm). (Normally used in Scandinavia.) A sliver breaker with bigger openings will increase the chipper capacity and save fuel. Same design as sliver breaker with Art Nr but for longer chips. 5

9 Mounting on carrier vehicle Requirements for the carrier vehicle The carrier vehicle should have a crane that is powered by the vehicle s engine and a payload capacity adapted to the weight of the chipping unit. The vehicle s frame must be suitable for carrying the chipping unit and cleared of any superstructures higher than the upper edge of the frame beams.
