2 s FKhG for Multimotor Drives for automatic connecting and disconnecting of drives on pumps, fans, generators etc. driving overrunning overrunning driving Areas of Application Multimotor drives are used for two reasons: Redundant drive for continuous plant operation in case of a main drive failure Energy saving (recovery) during secondary drive operation Overrunning freewheels are ideally suited for this purpose as automatically operating clutches. They provide for instantaneous changeover from one power source to the other power source automatically without any manual actuator mechanism. Application Example Electric motor 650 kw 990/min FKhG 148 FKhG 148 Diesel engine 650 kw 1020/min Redundant multimotor drive of a coolant pump installed in a power plant equipped with RINGSPANN Housing Freewheels. Normally the pump is driven by an electric motor. If failure occurs the Diesel engine is started via a safety device and is able to continue operating the pump without interrupting the coolant circulation.the Housing Freewheels automatically connect the operating drive with the pump. An additional auxiliary drive (barring drive) is used to turn the fan for inspection work and for even cooling after the main motors are shut down. Accessories During overrunning, the stationary input shaft of the is effected by a drag torque from the freewheeling output shaft. The amount of drag torque depends on the size of the unit and the overrunning speed;it could reach up to 20 Nm. If during overrunning the torsional resistance of the adjacent drive is lower than the drag torque of the, it can be fitted with a brake to prevent the drive from being carried along during overrunning.therefore we offer: Built-in electromagnetic brake with indicator showing the operating conditions External brake Installation Instructions The housing freewheel must be mounted in such a way that shaft d 2 is the input shaft and shaft d 1 the ouput shaft. We recommend the use of torsionproof shaft couplings generating only low restoring forces. On indication of the restoring forces that occur we are well prepared to check the usable life of the bearings installed.
