These produce a uniform distribution of stress at the edges of the cable s outer conducting layer and the compression sleeve. There is an insulator and special compression sleeve available for each cable cross section. External protection is provided by a thick-walled heat-shrink tube with hotmelt adhesive to prevent water ingress. Installation Application Push-on straight joint kit AMS is suitable for joining single-conductor polymer-insulated 12- and 24-kV cables. It can be installed both in the ground, in cable manholes as well as in air. Push-on straight joints are preferred by many users due to the very short installation time. Only the compression sleeves provided may be used! Detailed instructions describe all steps of the installation. The excellent elasticity of the silicone rubber permits easy installation and an optimum fit on the conductor insulation. The terminations exhibit a high dielectric strength. Tests The terminations have been tested to DIN VDE Items Supplied Application Push-on terminations are suitable for installation on all polymer-insulated medium-voltage cables. Push-on terminations are products that have been used successfully for more than 30 years in switching and transformer stations, industrial and power station systems throughout the world. The new-generation terminations in range-taking design have the advantage that one push-on insulator covers up to six cross sections. For the cross-section range 25 mm² to 300 mm² only two push-on insulators are required per application. This considerably reduces not only logistic complexity but also capital tie-up due to reduced inventory holding. The high-quality silicone material permits use even under rigorous service conditions, such as dust-laden air, condensation or moisture. Owing to the very favorable surface characteristics, it has been possible to keep the installed lengths of the insulators short. Commercially available, longitudinally sealed cable terminal lugs ensure reliable sealing.
