2 The Saloon embraces the most modern technology with lavish specification that sets the standard in the class. Intelligent use of steel and aluminium in its construction ensures the A6 s body structure is significantly lighter than that of the previous model. In fact, the new bodyshell alone is around 15% lighter than before with even better structural rigidity. Together with the latest generation TFSI and TDI direct fuel injection technology, it leads to a 19% reduction in fuel consumption compared with the previous model and CO2 emissions from 129g/km (2.0 TDI manual). Here, we show you how the new Saloon 2.0 TDI SE and S line models compare with key competitors.

3 The new : enhanced driving The : technology highlights Advanced construction and lightweight materials help towards class-leading combined-cycle fuel consumption of 57.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 129g/km (2.0 TDI SE manual). All five A6 engines 3.0 TFSI 300PS quattro, 2.0 TDI, 3.0 TDI 204PS, 3.0 TDI 245PS quattro and the mighty new 3.0 BiTDI 313PS quattro work in conjunction with engine start-stop, brake recuperation and Audi s innovative thermal management concept. As a result, fuel economy has improved by up to 19% compared with the previous model. BIK tax starts in the 19% band in 2012/13 (2.0 TDI SE), while the 2.0 TDI multitronic models set a benchmark for efficiency with CO2 emissions of 132g/km. Even the 204PS 3.0 TDI multitronic models emit just 133g/km, placing them in the 20% BIK tax band in 2012/13 another class-leading performance. The is available with a wide range of drivetrains, including optional 7-speed multitronic automatic transmission for 2.0 TDI models, and a new seven-speed S tronic for 3.0 TDI 245PS quattro derivatives. 3.0 TDI 204PS models are also available with multitronic transmission, enabling combined consumption of 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions from 133g/km. Technologies such as SD card-based Satellite Navigation as standard, as well as optional Wi-Fi enablement which allows passengers to access the internet on the move, keeps the A6 at the forefront of technology.
