What makes RPI ArmorWall Sidewall better than all the rest? RPI uses the Hot Vulcanization method to adhere the sidewall to the base belt.

What is Hot Vulcaniztion? Hot Vulcanization uses raw rubber in the fabrication process to create a homogeneous bond between the sidewall and belt.

Vulcanized materials have superior mechanical properties. When stress is applied the vulcanized rubber deforms, but upon release of the stress it reverts to its original shape.

2 What makes RPI ArmorWall Sidewall better than all the rest? RPI uses the Hot Vulcanization method to adhere the sidewall to the base belt. This is the same process the industry uses to adhere cleats and v-guides to rubber belts. This process has resulted in RPI having a sidewall belt failure rate of 0% due to delamination. What is Hot Vulcaniztion? Hot Vulcanization uses raw rubber in the fabrication process to create a homogeneous bond between the sidewall and belt. Vulcanization is a chemical process for converting rubber polymers, modifying the polymer by forming crosslinks (bridges) between individual polymer chains. Vulcanized materials have superior mechanical properties. When stress is applied the vulcanized rubber deforms, but upon release of the stress it reverts to its original shape. The most common problem with sidewall belts is delamination of the sidewall from the base belt. This results in loose sections of sidewall that allow product spillage and cause damage to the conveyor system. Bond failure occurs when the adhesive used to adhere the sidewall to the belt breaks down or deteriorates. Cross Rigid belts add cross members to the standard conveyor belt fabric to increase the cross belt rigidity, these cross member can be made of a variety of materials including; monofi lament, steel and fi berglass. The increased rigidity prevents the belt from bowing or sagging during operating tensions caused by changes in horizontal/vertical direction and when supported on the return run from the edge of the belt. Cross Rigid belts resist the side-toside fl exing normally found in conventional conveyor belting, while maintaining the fl exibility to allow normal movement around standard pulley diameters. Cross Rigid Belts are available in the following compounds; SBR Grade II EPDM MSHA Grade I HTA MOR Some compounds may require a minimum order, call RPI for details.
