The system uses large arrays of high performance LEDs that can be varied in both color and intensity of light output. This allows the surgeon to choose just the right amount and color of light to optimize their vision for a particular surgical procedure. By varying the color temperature of light output in five steps between K (enhanced red) and 75K (reduced red) and a RI of 9, a surgeon s ability to differentiate between tissues of similar colors is substantially improved. Lighting s EFI can be ordered with a Green Light option for green illumination during endoscopic procedures to reduce eye fatigue and improve visualization of monitors. The system eliminates the typical flickering found in fluorescent and many of today s LED lighting systems. This flicker is often not perceived by the viewer, but leads to accelerated eye fatigue which is of great concern to surgeons and operating room personnel. Illumination is controlled using a specialized high frequency pulse width modulation (PWM) technology. The length of time that the LEDs are on compared to the length of time they are off determines the level of illumination. Our dimming technology flashes the LEDs at a rate imperceptible to the human eye; more than twenty times faster than what has been shown to affect human biological systems. This provides a lighting system that not only greatly reduces eye strain and improves visualization but does not interfere with HD monitors, radiological imaging equipment or photographic documentation.

3 The system uses our exclusive Remote Power Distribution Technology that places the power and control for lighting outside the operating room, thus removing the heat generated by power supplies from the air conditioned space. This reduces both the size of fixtures and the room s heat load. old, UV free illumination eliminates irradiating, heating or drying of body tissue. The fixtures are sealed (IP-66) and electroplated with an antimicrobial coating that suppresses the growth of bacteria, fungi, spores and other contaminants. The system is both EMI (electromagnetic interference) and RFI (radio frequency interference) free. This eradicates problems with sensitive electronic equipment found in surgical suites, and provides the ideal light source for the hybrid operating room.
