7 Laboratory Infrastructure Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) RTDS Simulator is designed specifically to simulate electrical power systems & test physical equipment such as control and protection devices. RTDS is based on parallel processing. Each processor is assigned specific computing tasks depending on the network configuration. RSCAD software provides the ability to set up simulations, control, and modify system parameters during a simulation, data acquisition, and result analysis. RSCAD also includes libraries with a multitude of power system, control system and protection & automation component models, which can be used to create simulation cases.

20 Laboratory State-of-the-Art NTUA s Vehicle 2 Grid Electric Vehicle (EV) Emulator Custom-made EV emulator supporting the interoperability testing of the EV related protocols (IEC61851). It can be connected to an EVSE (as the device under testing) to validate its compliance with the standards. The EV emulator supports high-level communication (IEC protocol) adopting the implementation of the OpenV2G project NTUA s EV emulator NTUA s EVSE emulator Commercial EVSE charging wallbox Electric Vehicle Supplying Equipment (EVSE): Custom-made EVSE which allows the charging of a real or emulated EV in respect to two standards IEC61851 and IEC15118 (the OpenV2G implementation). EVSE can also communicate with external stakeholders, i.e. the EVSEO, implementing the OCPP 1.5 protocol. Commercial EV charging station (ETREL wallbox- 32A ).
21 Laboratory State-of-the-Art NTUA s Vehicle 2 Grid NTUA s EVSEO - GUI EVSE Operator (EVSEO) The OCPP 1.5 protocol for the communication between the EVSE and the EVSEO is implemented. No specific hardware is required apart from the device under testing. A user interface enables the testing of the OCPP implementation of a custom made or commercial EVSE. NTUA s EV Management System EV Management System A custom-made energy management system with user interface has been developed by NTUA offering several services to e-mobility stakeholders: Searching for EVSE location Electricity price information EVSE availability (orange colored EVSE means occupied while green one means available) Booking capabilities
