1 LS Rotary Piston flow meter Model LS rotary piston flow meter (hereafter for short called flow meter) is a kind of volumetric flow-measuring instrument, mainly used to measure volume flow of liquid. Its clearest merit is suitability for measurement of rather little flow rate. This flow meter can display accumulated flow on the site. When assembled with photoelectron pulse converter through built-in transmission output interface, it can be coupled to XSJ-39 series flow totalizer thus carrying out remote flow integration and providing 0~10 ma or 4~20 ma standard current signals for use with other indicating recording or controlling instruments. This flow meter has features as simple structure reliable operation wide measuring range high accuracy minor viscosity influence and electrical transmission capability. However its main measuring components could not resist corrosion, so it can measure only non-corrosive media as heavy oil and petroleum products. Standard for this product is Q/YXBM , while the inspecting regulation is JJG 'for volumetric flow meter of liquid'. As shown in figure (a), the measured

2 liquid enters into measuring cavity from the inlet of flow meter, and a differential pressure will be formed thus forcing the piston to rotate in the direction pointed out by the arrow in the figure. Accompanied with liquid flowing in, the piston will rotate to the location as shown in figure (b), forming an enclosed volumetric cavity V1 in crescent shape. Under the action of differential pressure, the piston will continue rotating with the result that the enclosed crescent cavity will be gradually open to the outlet and begin to discharge liquid as shown in figure (c). When the rotary piston reaches the location shown in figure (d), another enclosed crescent volumetric cavity V2 will be formed. After that, piston rotation will enable the enclosed cavity V2 to be open to outlet and discharge liquid again. At this moment, piston has returned to the place as shown in figure (a). In this way, piston rotation will continuously cause liquid to pass through the flow meter and volume flow of every cycle will equal to the amount of measuring cavities V1+V2. 5 Mode of pipe installation (sketch) Notes: Requirements for mounting: Select mounting location with less vibration and free from high temperature and moisture. Mount the flow meter upright on a horizontal pipe. Before mounting flow meter, it is necessary to clear away all impurities as sludge and welding dregs out of the pipe. The flow meter should be located at a lower place so as to separate gas from the measured fluid at other higher places. If necessary, a gas eliminator should be mounted ahead of the flow meter. Filter and gas eliminator should be mounted on the upstream side of flow meter, while adjusting valve should be mounted on the downstream side.
