1 NEW COMPRESSORS DEVELOPMENT INTRODUCTION On early nineties, and to meet the technical requirements of the market OFFICINE MARIO DORIN studied and developed a new range of compressors : the K MULTICONUS series. At this time, K series were the most efficient compressors on the market, particularly adapted to use R22 in low temperature, the only alternative for this application. The pistons and valve plates design, the discharge manifold, the liquid injection system and the complete philosophy on lubrication process were the main arguments which contribute to the success of this compressor. PROJECT 10 years after, minds have changed, habits of doing and technology too. With the incoming of new refrigerants (R404A, R134a, R407C, R507 ) and especially their use with ester oil (instead of mineral oil used before) more aggressive, it was necessary to develop new ranges of semi-hermetic compressors. The main directions of work were the following : Adaptations to the new refrigerants and their lubricant Performances increase Performance coefficients improvement Consumption decrease Sound level decrease Vibration decrease Reliability increase Keep the prices or indeed reduce them Adaptability regarding the old range Dimensions reduction

2 TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS The technical modifications to reach these aims were the following : Development of new valve plates which make easier the entry of the compressed gas. This system produces lower pressure drops, in order to improve the efficiency of the compressor. The structure of new refrigerants is different and their molecules bigger. Modification of the internal compression circuit so that the compressed gas can go through an internal compression room. This due to the end of compression temperatures which are lower than with R22. This reduces in significant way the vibrations and reduces also the sound level of the compressors. Creation of new aspiration filters to better separate the oil from the refrigerant. The new refrigerants have indeed a miscibility more important. Connexion boxes bigger on the small models to put the protection relay inside, and IP55 level. Selection of new electrical motors which consume less energy to improve the performance coefficients. Cancellation of the discharge manifold not necessary any more because of lower compression temperatures. Keep fitting dimensions to facilitate the substitution of the old K ranges by the new H range Optimisation of model size regarding compressors bodies. As for the old K range, the H range is divided in several families composed of several models, the families are function of the size of compressor body The first tests series realized of H1 family and particularly on the H280CC model let us hope very promising results : Refrigerating capacity with R404A at -10/+50ºC : from +10 to +25% compared with the equivalent semi-hermetic tested. Refrigerating capacity with R404A at -35/+35ºC : from +10 to +61% compared with the equivalent semi-hermetic tested. COP at R404A at -10/+50ºC : from +1,2 to +5,3% compared with the equivalent semi-hermetic tested. COP at R404A at -35/+35ºC : from +1,9 to +2.6% compared with the equivalent semi-hermetic tested.

3 THE PRODUCTS H1 family On the H1 family already commercialised since 2001 under the name H, we add 5 new models. This family new name is now H1. This family is composed of 17 models from H40CC to H280CC with displacements from 2,83 to 12,17 m3/h in 2 cylinders. This range goes up to H280CC while the old K range stopped at the model K240SB. The H250CS and H280CC have been created in a smaller size than the K equivalent compressor. Therefore, there is a reduction price of more than 20%. The crankcase heaters are the same type as for the other family products. 4 H32 family The H32 family is composed of 5 models (from H402CC to H742CC) with displacement from 19,98 to 26,44 m3/h in 2 cylinders. It is clear that this family of compressors has capacity higher in 4 cylinders version. For a displacement very similar, there is less effort on the pistons in 4 cylinders version regarding the 2 cylinders version (H32 family). 5 HP family The HP family is composed of 6 models (from H750CS to H2000CC) with displacement from 38,65 to 56,95 m3/h in 4 cylinders. As for the 2 families K4 et KP, the H4 and the HP have the same displacements, the main difference is the oil pump on the HP. This family is very interesting because thought with compressors in 4 cylinders version instead of 6 in the K versions, and therefore an important price reduction. The position of the valve remains the same and we are studing an adaptation kit for the fixation holes To facilitate the substitution of the K versions. 6 H6 family The H6 family is composed of 6 models (from H3500CS to H5000CC) with displacement from 127,93 to 153,52 m3/h in 6 cylinders. You can note that the last two models (H4500CS et H5000CC) are in 6 cylinders and therefore an appreciable decrease of the price.
