5 SECTION I OPERATING LIMITATIONS APPLICABILITY The limitations specified in this section are mandatory for the SIKORSKY helicopters with the 4600-S61 ISOLAIR Eliminator II Fire Fighting System installed. All other limitations are as specified in the basic ROTORCRAFT FLIGHT MANUAL (RFM) and as specified in the other relevant supplements. TYPES OF OPERATIONS 1. The helicopter with the ISOLAIR Fire Fighting System WITHOUT the hose and pump assembly and an empty tank is certificated in the TRANSPORT CATEGORY and includes the following limitations: 2. Operations restricted to VFR. 3. The helicopter WITH the ISOLAIR Fire Fighting System including water tank, snorkel hose assembly, and pump installed is certificated in the RESTRICTED CATEGORY and includes the following limitations: 3.1. Operations restricted to VFR Operator must be certificated in accordance with FAR Part 133 CREW AND PERSONS TRANSPORTED Only essential crew members required for the mission are authorized to be carried when operated in accordance with FAR Part 133. AIRSPEED LIMITATIONS 1. V NE while operating with empty tank and hover refill assembly removed 1.1. With Metal Blades 110 KIAS 1.2. With Composite Blades 120 KIAS 2. V NE with hover refill assembly installed and operating in the RESTRICTED CATEGORY 2.1. With Metal Blades 110 KIAS 2.2. With Composite Blades 110 KIAS 3. 6 NOTE: Hose and pump oscillations may occur at any speed. The hose and pump assembly must be monitored and the airspeed reduced as necessary to minimize the oscillations. HOVER REFILL OPERATIONS 1. Turn off all non-mission essential electrical loads prior to operating the refill pump. 2. The hover refill pump must be raised clear of the water before forward flight is initiated. LANDING CAUTION: Ground clearance under the water tank is limited. Condition and slope of the landing site should be carefully considered to prevent tank/tank door damage. If damage is suspected, inspect the bottom of the tank, and the tank doors for integrity. 1. Landing with the tank doors open is not recommended, due to the possibility of damage to the doors. Only one door should operate during this function test. NOTE: Do not inject foam concentrate without a water load. BEFORE DELIVERY CHECKS 1) FSC Timer ITEM CHECK OR CONDITION Select the desired mix ration and determine the required timer setting (see Section I). 2) FSC Switch Deflect the FSC switch and release. 3) DOOR SELECT Set as desired DELIVERY CHECKS 1) DOOR Switch 2) DOOR Switch ITEM CHECK OR CONDITION Press and hold until all water is visually dispersed. Bump the switch for intermittent dispersal. DOOR CLOSE lamp should illuminate GREEN showing that the doors are closed. FAA Approved: 2 Sep 2009 Page 7 of 18

10 CAUTION: Monitor torque and hydraulic pressure while operating hover pump. NOTE: Due to the weight of the water, or foam/water combination, be aware of any personnel or equipment in the vicinity prior to conducting a water drop operation. BEFORE LANDING CHECKS ITEM CHECK OR CONDITION 1) Fire Tank SYSTEM Switch Verify ON 2) DOOR CLOSE GREEN (Doors Closed) CAUTION: If the JETTISON switch has been activated, return the switch to the up postion after load has been dumped. 12 SECTION III EMERGENCY PROCEDURES GENERAL 1. The Emergency Procedures documented in the basic Flight Manual remain applicable with the following additions: 2. For ALL emergency procedures, jettison the water load as soon as safely possible. The FSC fluid is NOT jettisonable. NOTE: Hover Refill Pump is NOT jettisonable. MALFUNCTION PROCEDURES DOOR MALFUNCTION 1. Cycle the SYSTEM switch located on the Center Console. 2. Check for DOOR lamp GREEN (Doors Closed). 3. If DOOR lamp does not come on, repeat step 1. CAUTION: Limited ground clearance is available if a landing is attempted with the doors partially or fully OPEN. Damage to the doors may result. 13 Figure 1. Aux Hydraulic Control & Display Panel LOW HYDRAULIC FLUID If the LOW OIL QUANTITY light on the Rotorcraft is AMBER: 1. The auxiliary hydraulic power unit is low on fluid. Cease all operations and fill fluid before operating the system. 2. Check operation of auxiliary hydraulic system (refer to owner s manual). HYDRAULIC TEMPERATURE If the HYD OIL TEMP light in the dash of the Rotorcraft is lit: 1. The pump assembly hydraulic connector is not connected. Verify the hydraulic connection to the pump by observing the hydraulic pressure indication. 2. The pump temperature is too high. Cease pump operations to allow the hydraulic oil to cool. 14 Check operation of hydraulic system. Refer to operator s manual of auxiliary hydraulic system. SECTION IV PERFORMANCE GENERAL 1. The installation of the ISOLAIR 4600-S61 Fire Fighting System causes increased drag and climb performance. 2. No change to hover Performance 3. 15 SECTION V MANUFACTURER S DATA GENERAL DESCRIPTION 1. The ISOLAIR 4600-S61 Fire Fighting System consists of a fiberglass composite belly tank with hose and pump assembly that is attached to the helicopter for water drops in conjunction with fire fighting. The system is powered by the 50 Amp Cargo Hook Circuit Breaker located on the center console of the Rotorcraft, and an auxiliary hydraulic power unit. 2. The auxiliary power unit referred to in this supplement is the KAWAK (FAA STC No. SR01288SE). Please consult with the manufacturer s RFMS prior to operation of the ISOLAIR 4600-S61 Fire Fighting System for recommended checks, warning indicators, and operating procedures. 3. The system consists of: 3.1. A 1000-gallon (3387-liter) belly tank equipped with two (2) hydraulically actuated release doors A Fire Suppressant Chemical (FSC) dual reservoir is incorporated within the belly tank A hover refill pump located at the end of a 12 foot (4 meter) hose. This assembly cannot be jettisoned from the tank. The pump is hydraulically powered using the aircraft auxiliary hydraulic system. Pump flow is 1200 gallons/minute maximum (4,542 liters/minute). 17 CONTROL & DISPLAY PANEL Figure 5. Control & Display Panel (Center Console) The Display Panel mounted in the center console is used to monitor tank and FSC levels, and input FSC and Door functions. These functions can be set before the first flight of the day, and the system can then be operated through the use of the Control Switches. At any time, these features can be changed as necessary. SYSTEM POWER SWITCH The SYSTEM ON/OFF switch is located in the top right corner of the Display Panel and is used to turn the system power on and off. When departing on a firefighting mission, activate the system before the rotorcraft leaves the ground so that all indicators will be working. FAA Approved: 2 Sep 2009 Page 15 of 18

18 FILL SWITCH The tank fill switch located on the lower right side of the Display Panel allows for normal manual fills or by selecting the 600 GAL FILL switch, the operator can have the pump cutoff fill at 600 gallons. TRAIL DROP SWITCH The TRAIL DROP switch located at the top left of the Display Panel allows the operator to sect only right door to open on the system instead of the normal 2 doors. This switch is to be used only when water is in the tank and a long stream of water is desired when on a fire-fighting mission. The trail drop switch will not interfere in any way if the JETTISON switch is activated. DOOR CLOSED INDICATOR The DOOR CLOSE indicator is located on the left side center section of the Display Panel. When the indicator light is GREEN, the doors to the system are closed. Pump will not operate without door closed LED light. TANK LEVEL INDICATORS The Tank Level Indicators are located in the middle of the Display Panel. They consist of 4 green LED lamps that light at approximate 1/4 tank intervals. One light indicates a minimum of 250 gallons, two lights equals 450 gallons, three lights equals 650 gallons and all four lights equals 950 gallons. FSC LEVEL INDICATOR The FSC LEVEL indicator lamp is located in the middle left side of the Display Panel. When empty, the lamp will illuminate AMBER. With FSC fluid in the tanks, the light will illuminate GREEN JETTISON SWITCH The JETTISON switch is located in the middle of the right side of the Display Panel. This is a two-position switch that is to be used for emergency conditions that necessitate the water load to be dropped immediately. The OFF position of this switch is to be used under normal operating conditions. To JETTISON the load push the switch down. The dump doors of the fire tank will not close until the switch is moved back to the OFF position. Check the DOOR CLOSE indicator to verify this. FSC TIMER DIAL The FSC TIMER dial located on the left upper side of the Display Panel and is used to input the length of injection time for the FSC pump to operate. Please refer to the MIX RATIO CHART in this manual for the appropriate settings for the desired FSC/WATER ratio. FAA Approved: 2 Sep 2009 Page 16 of 18

19 EXAMPLE: A.5% FSC mix ratio is desired during water drops. Consult FSC chart below to determine that 9.7 seconds of FSC injection time will be required. Enter 9.7 onto the FSC dial. After water has been loaded in the tank, the operator should activate the FSC momentary switch and the tank will be injected with FSC fluid for 9.7 seconds. FSC SWITCH The FSC switch is located on the right upper side of the Display Panel and by pushing in the switch momentarily, the FSC pump will be activated for the length of time previously set on the FSC TIMER dial. MIX RATIO CHART FOR 1000 GALLON FILLS MIX RATIO (%) TIMER SETTING MAXIMUM WATER LOADS * Note: MAXIMUM WATER LOADS refers to the number of FSC injections that can be achieved per the MIX RATIO selected. Example: 23 FSC injections can before FSC fluid must be refilled. TANK CAPACITY MONITOR The Tank Capacity Monitor is located at the bottom of the Display Panel. It gives a digital readout in gallons of the contents of the main water tank of the system. It has no user-controlled features. When the SYSTEM switch is turned ON, the Tank Capacity will automatically turn on. FAA Approved: 2 Sep 2009 Page 17 of 18

With a water load, the external load limits apply and without a water load the internal load limits apply. Limit maximum load for water drop operations to the OGE hover weight.
