5 Light Beam Patterns Types With over 40 years of lighting engineering and manufacturing experience KC leads the industry in offering the most diverse lighting selection available. We offer a full selection of lighting solutions across price, performance and features. LED An LED is a semiconductor based light source. LEDs are considered to be a form of solid state lighting. LEDs rely on electroluminescence instead of incandescence. LEDs have many advantages over traditional incandescent lights such as lower energy consumption, longer life, smaller size, increased physical resistance and are switched/powered digitally. HID Advancing beyond Halogen, High-Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps produce a lot more light and is much more power efficient. HID bulbs have no filament but instead tungsten electrodes. These electrodes are sealed in a quartz tube which is filled with both gas (usually Xenon) and various metal salts which produce an extremely intense light when ignited. HALOGEN To overcome inefficiencies of standard incandescent light bulbs, halogen technology was created. Halogen bulbs are a form of incandescent light but uses a tungsten filament instead. This allows halogen to be brighter than standard incandescent lights. KC beam patterns are designed from the ground up drawing from real world user application needs. Depending on the variables like distance, speed, terrain and weather, our beam patterns are engineered to address the visibility challenges customers face across a variety of environments. OFF-ROAD : SPOT BEAM SPOT BEAM Focused light prioritizing maximum distance and illumination needed at high speeds applications or remote areas. SPREAD BEAM SPREAD BEAM Provides a wide beam of light that prioritizes horizontal, peripheral visibility and clarity. STREET LEGAL : DRIVING BEAM DRIVING BEAM Provides a rectangular shaped beam pattern designed to supplement primary headlight visibility, safely. Driving Beams meet street legal SAE and ECE standards. FLOOD BEAM FLOOD BEAM Flood beams create an Omni-directional beam of light that illuminates larger general areas ideal for use as area work lights and backup lights. COMBO BEAM COMBO BEAM Combination of different optics creating a beam that has a balance of distance and width. WIDE 40 BEAM WIDE-40 BEAM A 40 degree wide beam with an effective cut-off designed to significantly increase visibility while cornering. FOG BEAM FOG BEAM Extremely Wide and Low pattern that prioritizes lower ground visibility used with primary headlights. Fog beams meet street legal SAE and ECE standards. 8 9
