3 LED LED (Light Emitting Diode) Technology offers enormous benefits for off road lighting applications. Because of their long life, durability (no filament to fail), and efficiency (lumens/watt), LED lights provide significant service cost and power consumption savings. The color spectrum of light emitted by LEDs is close to the color spectrum of mid-day sun. Generally, the human eye functions more effectively (better vision) when viewing objects illuminated by a light source whose color spectrum is closest to the color spectrum of mid-day sun. From a work place perspective, this translates to a safer and more productive work environment. 3

17 Connectors & Brackets Connectors Brackets Dampened Housing Bracket Undampened Housing Bracket Most DMK lights are available with dampened or undampened housing brackets in three different heights; 25mm, 30mm or 40mm. Dampened housing brackets are recommended for offroad uses or in environments where the light may be subjected to excessive vibration. Most brackets are also available in three mounting bolt sizes: M8, M10 or M12. Please call our knowledgeable support staff at to discuss your specific needs. 17

23 Halogen Options Blue Amber Red Fog Colored glass lenses are available for most Halogen and HID series lighting: Blue lenses can be used with halogen lights to match HID color temperature (see page 31). Amber lenses can be used for directional or hazard light applications. Red glass lenses are commonly used for stop lights. Fog lights offer improved detail and contrast in hazy or dusty atmospheres. Lower wattage bulbs recommended for amber and red. 23

24 HID HID (High Intensity Gas Discharge) lighting technology replaces the filament of the halogen light bulb with a capsule of gas. The light is emitted from an arc discharged between two closely spaced electrodes hermetically sealed inside a small quartz glass capsule. To operate, they require ballasts, which supply proper voltage and control current. The amount of light produced is four to five times greater than a standard halogen bulb, while consuming less power, and more closely approximating the color temperature of natural daylight. DMK offers both 35W and 45W HID work lights. 24

30 FAQ What is a Lumen? Luminous Flux is the total effective output of a lamp. Luminous Flux is expressed in Lumens. The larger the lumens, the greater the output of the lamp. What is a Candela? Luminous Intensity is light intensity through space. Luminous Intensity is expressed in Candela. The greater the candela, the brighter the light. What is the Effect of Voltage on Bulb Life and Light Output? Halogen bulb manufacturers develop bulbs to operate at a design voltage (Rated Voltage). Bulb light output and life statements are based under testing bulbs at their Rated Voltage. Operating a bulb at more than or less then its Rated Voltage affects both its life and its output.
