Yellapur Avoid NH pm to 6 am - more than 700 lethal mining trucks ply here, police allow them only from 10pm to 6 am Bad surface starts Bumpy surface for about 20 Kms on the ghats, pitted roads. LT - Join NH Lots of slow truck traffic, single track, caution while overtaking Kamat Upchar Hotel Good clean food, nice locale. One of the few options to have decent Start 200 food on this stretch between Bangalore to Hyderabad. Pebberu Jachirilla Thunder Storm, pelting rain, strong cross wind, low visibility, Hyderabad outer water levels on low side of road 2+ feet high, was scary, most Tank Bund road cars stopped, road was clear of traffic for 50 kms, only few trucks. LT to Ellora and Aur'bad Kannad Very rough surface for 30 kms till Kannad Ghat Section Sharp turns, narrow, steep, non-barricaded, dangerous section. Ghat ends Road fork, Junction BP in shambles, police advised to take road thro. Chalisgauv town. Chalisgon town Dhule Amazingly straight roads, smooth surfce, low traffic, Sikri Did 100 kms in 40 mts, one of our best laps in the whole trip. Diesel Halt & Ghat Begins Ghat Ends Navpur BP Sputara Turn off Junction RTO Gujarat Great smooth surface till surat, but lots of city traffic. Songdh Vyara RT to Surat Bardoli Junction Surat - RT on NH-8 to Baroda Ankleshwar - Tea stop new hotel Swagat, neat clean place. Start 1155 Toll plaza pm Rs.14/- Baroda BP Expresway entry Rs. 67/-Great 4 track expressway :) :) :) Expressway exit Vishala Vastrapur TOTAL FOR THE DAY 658 TOTAL FROM 1st TO 16th 5009 Car : Scorpio CRDE / August Scorpio fared pretty well, the road presence is demonstrably useful in maddening traffic and to quickly accelerte, overtake and cruise. Kept the right pedal light on twisties; the truck felt shifty if I take a turn a little too fast. Very satisfactory all round. Milage, km/ ltr. Note on GPS :) A great help to know when sharp turns, road junctions come up on roads, specially when rains reduces visibility and sudden twists apper on NHs like, 63, 9, 7 and most ghat sections. Could save hotels and navigate back. Helpful early mornings, to navigate out of town without wasting time. Satguide latest version has improved tremendously in accuracy, way points, driving directions etc. Hyderabad, Aurangbad we navigated only with satguide help. GPS gave great peace of mind on unknown roads and thro. heavy rains, would recommend it highly for long-distance travel.
