SEE OUR WEBSITE ABOUT US Growing up on an organic vegetable farm in Southern Indiana, I learned first-hand what walk-behind tractors could do: For many years, Dad had no 4-wheel tractor. We broke over 5 acres of sod and mowed 17 acres of hay with our first walk-behind. Even after we got a 4-wheel tractor, the walk-behinds did the lions share of the work because of their maneuverability, ease of changing implements and economy. Dad also became a BCS dealer in 1977; he soon had the largest BCS dealership in Indiana. By the time I was 16, I was doing all the sales and service of BCS in Dad s shop; in 1993 when I was ready to spread my wings, Dad sold me his BCS franchise and I started Earth Tools. Marriage brought me to Kentucky in 1997, where my wife Chris and I built an Earth-bermed, passive solar-assist part-straw-bale house. We don t grow produce for market anymore, but we raise our own food organically in a ¼ acre garden and our walk-behind tractors (2) are the only tractors on our (mostly wooded) 166 acre farm, taking care of mowing brush, lawn mowing, tilling, snow removal, haulage of firewood, etc. My business, EARTH TOOLS, which had its humble beginnings in a used semi-trailer body, is now the largest retail supplier of walk-behind tractors, implements & parts in North America, we now have 14 employees and a 20,000+ sq. ft. facility.
