4 Draft SSS E 1.0 4(10) 1 Scope 1.1 Identification This Subsystem specification applies to Target representation within the Swedish system for multi-purpose remote-controlled live-fire target system. 1.2 System overview For an overview of the system and the desired modifications, see [1]. 1.3 Document overview This document is a subsystem specification for the Swedish Armed Forces Target System The intention of the system requirements contained in this document is to define the required capability at a level that provides a solid foundation for detailed design, thus allowing for design trade-offs, further exploration and optimisation by the Contractor in collaboration with FMV. The intention is also to communicate previous design decisions to the Contractor that imposes constraints on the system design Reader s guidance Requirements are identified by a unique identification header of the type NNN-SSYS-E - NNN is a unique identification number. - SSYS-E indicates that it is a system requirement from the subsystem E specification. The requirements paragraphs are written in a tabbed format: 100-SSYS-E The requirement paragraphs in this specification shall be considered to end either when a new requirement is stated by a unique identifier or if it is followed by a header Use of certain words and phrases Certain words and phrases have a specific meaning in the context of this Specification. Some of these words and phrases are defined below. See Section 6 Notes for further definitions and explanations of acronyms used. The word "shall" is used to express mandatory requirements. 6 Draft SSS E 1.0 6(10) 3 Requirements This section contains the system requirements that are applicable to the Target Representation System within LFTS. 3.1 Required states and modes Required states and modes are left for lower level specifications. 3.2 Operational capability Target silhouettes 101-SSYS-E The System shall provide realistic 3D-targets for the Light mobile target mover representing: a. Pick-ups, b. Combat vehicles, c. Tanks, d. Trucks, e. Hostile, armed pick-ups, f. Motorbikes with armed passenger. 102-SSYS-E The System shall provide realistic target silhouettes for target mechanisms representing: a. Civilians, b. Armed/unarmed civilians carrying a child or a hostage, c. Soldiers, d. Insurgents/terrorists, e. Pick-ups, f. Combat vehicles, g. Tanks, h. Trucks, i. Hostile and armed pick-ups, j. Motorbikes with armed passenger. 103-SSYS-E Target silhouettes representing humans shall be detectable at ranges corresponding to a real human being at the same distance, and be perceived as real humans on short distance. 104-SSYS-E Target silhouettes representing vehicles shall be identifiable at ranges corresponding to real vehicles being at the same distance.

7 Draft SSS E 1.0 7(10) 105-SSYS-E The target silhouettes shall withstand at least 300 hits from small arms fire (up to 7.62 mm) without causing degraded functionality or appearance of the silhouette Thermal Target capabilities 106-SSYS-E The System shall have the capability of displaying targets in thermal optics in a realistic way relative to weather, surroundings, lighting conditions and target representation. 107-SSYS-E Thermal Targets, representing humans, provided by the System shall include the following characters: a. Soldiers with thermally detectable battle equipment, b. Civilians without weapon, c. Insurgents/terrorists with a cold or hot weapon. 108-SSYS-E Thermal Targets representing vehicles shall include the following types: a. Car, b. Combat vehicle, c. Tank. 109-SSYS-E The Thermal Target canvases shall withstand at least 300 hits without inflicting degraded functionality or appearance on the thermal canvases. 110-SSYS-E The Thermal Target canvases shall have the capability of displaying Thermal Target signatures in 30 seconds 60 times. 3.3 System external interface requirements No external interfaces are identified within this subsystem. 3.4 System internal interface requirements See OCD [1], section 9, for more information about internal interface requirements. 111-SSYS-E The Thermal Target canvases shall be connected to the Knock-down target mechanism for power supply, if applicable. 3.5 System internal data requirements No external internal data requirements are identified within this subsystem. 3.6 Adaptation requirements No adaption requirements are identified for this system specification. 3.7 Safety requirements

8 Draft SSS E 1.0 8(10) 3.8 Security and privacy requirements 3.9 System environment requirements 3.10 Computer resource requirements Computer hardware requirements Computer hardware resource utilization requirements Computer software requirements Computer communications requirements 3.11 System quality factors Reliability, maintainability, and availability 112-SSYS-E The target silhouette is an expendable article and will be replaced frequently, thus the replacement time shall be minimized. 113-SSYS-E 3D target silhouettes, for the Light mobile target mover, shall be designed to minimize cost of usage Design and construction constraints 114-SSYS-E Target silhouettes shall be designed in an ethical neutral manner regarding religion, sex, culture and citizenship. 115-SSYS-E 3D target silhouettes, for the Light mobile target mover, including the target sledge shall not weigh more than 100 kg. (The weight of the current sledge is 50 kg). 116-SSYS-E The target silhouettes, excluding any electronic components and cables, shall be made of biodegradable material. 117-SSYS-E The target silhouettes shall be designed to avoid dispersal of small particles due to impact from ammunition Personnel-related requirements
