4: Preparing the wheelbase for use WARNING: When unfolding or folding the wheelbase, ensure that you hold the rear cross bar and the front cross bar (insert picture that labels the rear and front cross bar) to avoid the danger of catching your fingers in moving parts. Keep children clear of the wheelbase during unfolding and folding. 4.1 Unfolding the Frame (quick release handles - pushchairs supplied before December 2017): To unfold the Swirl wheelbase, first place the folded frame onto a flat surface. Undo the Hook & loop strap which is attached to front anchorage point (see Fig 4.1.1, right). Ensure the brake is on, as this makes the frame much easier to unfold (see section 4.2 for details of brake operation). Fig Lift the fold bar up so that the frame is sitting on its wheels as shown (Fig 4.1.2, left). Fig Document No: v9 Page 13 of 50 June 2018

Push the fold bar forward. The front wheels will roll forward as the frame opens. Keep pushing until the slides lock into place. Fig Next lift both the side handle and push handle up as shown (see Fig 4.1.4, left) Fig Ensure that the notch, in the side handle pivots, lines up with the small screw in the frame, as shown (see fig 4.1.5, right). Fig Document No: v9 Page 14 of 50 June 2018

With the notch lined up, push the handle lock lever down firmly until it locks into place. This will close the side handle pivots and lock the side handle into place. Repeat for the other side. Note: The handle lock lever can be locked into any position. We suggest that the handle lock lever is facing down as shown in Fig (left) Fig Note: It is normal for there to be a little lateral movement in the push handles when locked. The tension on the locking lever is factory set to provide a balance between ease of use and tension. Do not attempt to adjust the tension on the locking lever as this can result in damage to the mechanism. If there is a problem with the locking lever please contact Tendercare ltd for further assistance. Set the push handle to the desired angle. To adjust the push handle: Place your hands onto the two push handle adjustors at the top of the side handle as shown (see Fig 4.1.7, right). Press in the buttons on the outside of the push handle adjustors. Whilst holding in the buttons, adjust the angle of the push handle. To lock, release the buttons and the push handle adjustors will lock in place. Fig Document No: v9 Page 15 of 50 June 2018

Folding the frame (quick release handles - pushchairs supplied before December 2017): Always set the brake ON before folding the frame; this will make folding and unfolding the Swirl easier. For details of how to operate the brake, please refer to section 4.2 of this manual. Fold the push handle so the push handle sits against the side handles as shown (see Fig 4.1.8, left). Fig Unlock the lower push handle locking lever on one side of the frame (to unlock, lift the leaver and the lower push handle joint will spring open). Fig Hold the side handle and unlock the handle lock lever on the other side. The side handle should now be free to move. Fig Document No: v9 Page 16 of 50 June 2018

Fold the side handle forward so it sits over the front castors as shown (see Fig , right). Fig Attach hook & loop strap to front anchorage point as shown in Fig Note: this will prevent the handle bar swinging when you later lift the buggy. Fig Place one foot on the crossbar of the frame and take hold of the fold bar as shown (see Fig ). Lift and pull the fold bar, this will start to fold the frame. Fig Document No: v9 Page 17 of 50 June 2018

4.2 Pin Brake: To activate the pin brake, first hold the push handle. Next place your foot on the top of the brake bar as shown (see Fig 4.2.1, left). Now, using your foot, press the brake bar down as far as it will go. The brake should now be on. If the brake pin will not engage, try rolling the pushchair forward slightly to help line up the pins with the locking rings on the wheels. Fig Fig Right: This shows the brake in the fully locked position. Fig To release the pin brake, hold the push handle and place your foot underneath the brake bar as shown (see Fig 4.2.3, left). Lift this bar up as far as it will move to ensure the pins are clear of the locking rings. Fig Warning: When operating the brake mechanism, make sure you always keep a firm hold of the pushchair and keep your hands well away from the brake mechanism. Do not leave the pushchair on a slope, even with the brake on. Always ensure that the pushchair is on level ground to prevent risk of injury to the occupant/others and help prevent tipping. Document No: v9 Page 26 of 50 June 2018

Do not operate the brake when the pushchair is moving. The brake is not designed to slow the pushchair down or stop a moving pushchair; such use may damage the brake. 4.2A Tyres: As standard the Swirl wheelbase is supplied with solid tyres; however, pneumatic tyres are also available as an option. If your pushchair is supplied with pneumatic tyres, these need to be regularly checked and inflated, when necessary, using a hand or foot pump. The operating pressure for the tyres is 36 PSI (do not inflate the tyres above 36 PSI). Do not use high pressure air lines or mechanical pumps, as often used in garages, to inflate the tyres. 4.2B Push Handle Mounted Attendant Brakes Hub (optional upgrade): Hub brakes are available only as a factory fitted option. The following instructions detail how to operate the hub brakes. NOTE: The hub brake upgrade means the standard foot operated brake is removed.. The hub brakes include a locking function which provides the same functionality as the standard parking pin lock brake. Hub Brakes Fig Above: The Swirl Chassis fitted with hub brakes. You will see that there is no longer a brake bar between the rear wheels. The hub brakes are operated by the pair of locking levers positioned on the push handle. Document No: v9 Page 27 of 50 June 2018

To set the brakes, squeeze the brake levers on both sides as shown (see Fig 4.2.7, right). Fig Fig The brake leavers feature an automatic lock mechanism and will lock with the brakes on. The system features 3 locking positions with different levels of braking force. We recommend to always use the 3 rd (strongest) position to ensure occupant safety. To release the brake lift the smaller release catches on the handles to release the automatic lock as shown (see Fig 4.2.9, right). Note: Fig Do not leave the pushchair on a slope, even with the brake on. Always ensure that the pushchair is on level ground to prevent risk of injury to the occupant and help prevent tipping. Do not attempt to push the pushchair when the brake is locked off. Doing so may damage the brake mechanism. If you need to slow down the momentum of your pushchair (i.e. when on a hill), you must not lock off the brake; rather, you must keep your finger pressed on the automatic lock as shown in Fig , above, to ensure the lock does not engage. Document No: v9 Page 28 of 50 June 2018

4.2C Front Locking Castors How to lock the front castors: Castor Locking Pin (in an open position) Body of Castor Locking Pin Head of Castor Locking Pin First lift the head of castor locking pin turning it until the head engages with the slot in the body of the castor locking pin (see Fig 4.2C.1). Note Fig 4.2C.1 shows the castor locking pin in an open position to ensure the head and body are clearly visible for labelling. Fig 4.2C.1 Then rotate the front castor until the pin engages with the hole. The castor should now be locked in a forward position (see Fig 4.2C.2). Note: front locking castors are generally used on uneven/rough terrain so for day-to-day use, when the castors are locked, it may be more difficult to change direction. Castor Locking Pin (in a locked position) Fig 4.2C.2 How to unlock the castors: Pull the head of the castor locking pin up and turn it half a turn and release so the head is supported by the body of the locking castor (see dig 4.2C.1). 30 4.3 Using the Tilt in Space Facility Fig L To operate the tilt in space mechanism, place your hand under the middle of the frame interface and lift up the tilt lever, L, (see Fig 4.3.1). This will open the gas strut and tilt the frame interface. Note: when tilting the frame interface with a seat fitted, use your other hand to support the seat as it tilts. To reset the tilt mechanism, lift the tilt lever, L in Fig 4.3.1, and push down firmly on the front of the frame interface as shown in Fig Once the frame interface is in the desired position, release the lever. Note: to achieve a 90 degrees seating pushing, push the frame interface all the way down. Fig Important: Always ensure any postural accessories e.g. harnessing, laterals etc. provided for the occupant are used and correctly adjusted before reclining or returning the seat to a more upright position. Always support the seat when tilting, as the gas springs can be quick to operate. If the seat is not supported, is may move swiftly and could cause the occupant distress. Document No: v9 Page 30 of 50 June 2018

4.4A Interface safety catch The interface includes a two-stage locking mechanism that comprises of interface clips and a safety catch. Together these prevent accidental release of a seat from the chassis. The interface clips must be correctly set before the safety catch can be operated: How to operate the safety catch: Fig 4.4A.1 The safety catch is located under the front right corner of the seat, near the release lever (See Fig 4.4A.1). Definition of components: X: Pull handle Y: Locking Pin Safety Catch Locked Fig 4.4A.2 To release the safety catch, pull the pull handle, X, and turn it 90 degrees so that the locking pin, Y, is fully retracted. To lock the safety catch, pull X and turn 90 degrees in the opposite direction so that pin Y is fully protruded and sits in front of the interface clips, as in Fig 4.4A.1 Safety Catch Unlocked Important: When fitting or removing the seat, the carer / parent must first ensure that the safety catch pin is set in the unlocked position. It will not be possible to fit or remove the seat if the safety catch is locked Attempting to do so may cause damage to the chassis or the seat. Once the seat has been fitted, the carer / parent must always lock the safety catch. Note that a warning label is positioned on the top right hand portion of the tilt frame on the chassis to remind carers to lock the safety catch. Document No: v9 Page 31 of 50 June 2018

4.4B Fitting the interface To fit the interface to the frame interface: Fig 4.4B.1 First ensure the safety catch is unlocked (as explained in section 4.4A.2). Locate the two rear hooks on the back of the interface which can be found over the stainless steel bushings on the back of the frame interface (see Fig 4.4B.1). Fig 4.4B.2 Next push down on the interface so the interface clips latch over the front stainless steel bushes on the frame interface (see Fig 4.4B.2). Note: Due to the design of the frame interface, it is not possible to fit the interface backwards. If fitted the wrong way around the clips will not close and it will not sit down into the frame. Once the interface is fitted, always lock the safety catch, as explained in section 4.4A Fig 4.4B.3 To release the interface, unlock the safety catch and then lift the release lever up as shown in Fig 4.4B.3. This will open the interface clips and lift them away from the frame in one movement. Then simply lift the rear hooks away from the frame. Important: Always ensure that the interface clips have latched fully. To test this, press down on the release lever when fitted and make sure the interface clips will not move. Do not attempt to fit the interface backwards. It will not lock in a rearward facing position. Always ensure that the interface is firmly held on all 4 fixing points (the 2 rear hooks and 2 interface). The interface is spring loaded, so ensure your fingers are clear of the interface clips before fitting or injury could occur. Document No: v9 Page 32 of 50 June 2018

4.5 Switching from Forward Facing to Rearward Facing The Swirl wheelbase features an innovative rotation mechanism, which allows the pushchair to be converted from forward to rearward facing (and vice versa) with the seat unit and occupant in place. Always ensure that the brake is on before performing this operation and ensure the pushchair is positioned in a safe area, on a flat surface to avoid risk to the occupant. Warning: The pushchair must always be set to Forward Facing if it is being used for transportation in a wheelchair-adapted vehicle. 1. Set the brake on (if you are unsure how to do this, please refer to section 4.2 of this manual). 2. Next, support the side handle with one hand and release the handle lock levers on either side of the chassis with the other hand (see section 4.1 of this manual for details of how to operate the handle lock mechanism). Fig Lower the side handles to the rear of the chassis as shown (see Fig 4.5.2, right). Warning: Take care not to drop the side handle; rather, hold it and guide it down until it comes to rest. This helps avoid distress to the occupant and potential damage occurring to the handle. Fig Document No: v9 Page 33 of 50 June 2018

4. For ease, we suggest tilting the seat back so as far back as it will go so the footrest sits higher than the top of the base frame (see Fig 4.5.3, left). For details of how to operate the tilt mechanism, please refer to section 4.3 of this manual. Base Frame Warning: Always support the seat whilst using the tilt in space mechanism to avoid any sudden movements and possible distress to the occupant. Fig Now release the rotation mechanism. To do this, place one hand on the back of the seat, and with your other hand, lift the rotation release catch (this is located on the rear of the pushchair underneath the frame interface as shown in Fig 4.5.4, right). Whilst holding the catch up, start to rotate the seat ensuring that the footrest is clear of the chassis. Once the seat is rotated slightly, let go of the rotation release catch. Fig Document No: v9 Page 34 of 50 June 2018

6. Keep rotating the seat in the direction you started in by hand. Warning: Keep the rotation gentle to avoid distressing the occupant. Fig Once the seat has turned a full 180, the rotation lock mechanism will click into place and the seat will no longer rotate in either direction. Before using the pushchair in its new position, always check that the rotation mechanism has fully locked by trying to rotate the seat in both directions. Fig Document No: v9 Page 35 of 50 June 2018

Fig Now tilt the seat to the position you require. For details of how to operate the tilt mechanism, please refer to section 4.3 of this manual. 9. Finally, lift the side handles and lock them with the handle lock levers on both sides of the chassis (see section 4.1 of this manual for details of how to operate the handle lock mechanism). Fig 4.5.8, right: The Swirl with a Snappi seat set in rearward position. Note: When in rearward / parent-facing (and depending on seat position), it may be necessary to apply a little tilt to the seat to avoid the footrest hitting the fold bar. If using a Snappi Seat the angle of the footrest could also be adjusted. About 10 degrees of tilt is sufficient to ensure the seat is clear of the bar if using a 90 degree footrest angle. Fig Warnings: Ensure the occupant s arms and legs are inside the seat and clear of the framework before rotating. Make sure any loose accessories e.g. clothing, blankets etc. are tucked in, clear of the framework, before rotating the seat. Check all harnessing is fitted and secure before rotating the seat. Do not attempt to rotate the seat without a harness as the occupant may fall out. Document No: v9 Page 36 of 50 June 2018

5: Accessories 5.1 Shopping Basket To fit your Swirl shopping basket, clip each of the 4 hooks on the basket to the 4 D- rings on the Swirl. To secure each hook, press the straight part of the hook and clip it over the D-ring (see Fig 5.1.1). Note: to ensure the shopping basket is fitted the right way around, the Hook & loop part of the shopping basket goes at the back (see Fig 5.1.2). Fig To remove the shopping basket, undo each of the 4 hooks. To undo each hook, press in the straight part of the hook and lift away from the D-ring repeat for each of the 4 hooks. Fig Document No: v9 Page 37 of 50 June 2018

5.2: Sun Canopy An umbrella style sun canopy is available for the Swirl. To fit the sun canopy to the chassis: First remove the umbrella from its protective sleeve. Next, unclip the frame fixing from the umbrella by pressing on the button and pulling apart as shown (See Fig 5.3.1). Fig Next, unscrew the frame mounting to open the jaws (see Fig 5.3.2) until it will fit over the frame. Position the mounting onto the side handle (see fig below). Adjust the angle of the clip so it is vertical. Fig Document No: v9 Page 38 of 50 June 2018

When in the desired position, retighten the screw to lock it onto the frame Finally, clip the umbrella section back onto the mounting by pushing the 2 halves of the clip back together. Open the umbrella. If a different angle is needed, simply loosen the locking screw and move to the required angle then retighten. Fig Warnings: You must remove the umbrella before folding the frame (the frame mounting clip can be left in place). The entire sun umbrella must be removed when using the wheelbase in a wheelchairaccessible vehicle. Document No: v9 Page 39 of 50 June 2018

6: Fitting a non-tendercare seating system The interface is designed to bolt onto the base of a special seating system using the 4 base fixing points. The interface should always be fitted with a suitable framework which fit 19mm or ¾ aluminium or mild steel tube. Due to the wide range of different special seating systems, Tendercare do not supply fixing brackets for these items. Please refer to the seat manufacturer s instructions. An example set up using the interface is shown below: Fig Document No: v9 Page 40 of 50 June 2018

Important: The Swirl has been successfully impact tested as a wheelbase and interface with the Snappi, Snugseat and Modular seating systems. When fitting third party seating systems to the Swirl, the manufacturer of the seating system must carry out a risk assessment before use. When fitting a third party seat stability may be affected. A test is necessary to confirm that the static stability is satisfactory. A stability test to meet the requirements of EN.ISO7176 must be completed by the commissioning wheelchair service. This test must be passed before handover of the system. 7: Final checks 1. Check that the seat unit is located and locked correctly in the chassis.. 2. Check that all postural accessories e.g. harnessing are secure and adjusted properly. Document No: v9 Page 41 of 50 June 2018

8: Attendant pushing 8.1 Pushing Important: At the start of every journey make sure the interface is correctly fitted into the frame and that the interface clips are fully closed. Please refer to section 4.4 for more information about working with the interface. Do not allow children to play with the gas spring release lever. 1. The wheelbase is easy to push on hard, even surfaces but may be more difficult over rough, uneven surfaces as the wheels could sink into soft ground. Never force the wheelbase if it becomes stuck; this may cause the rear wheels to lift and the wheelbase to be tipped forwards. If the wheelbase gets jammed on a stone or cracked pavement, tip it backwards to raise the front wheel over the obstacle and then proceed. On soft ground, it may be easier to pull the wheelbase backwards. 2. The wheelbase has swivelling front castor wheels and can be easily manoeuvred simply by turning the wheelbase in the desired direction. 3. Whenever possible avoid steep and uneven surfaces as there is a potential danger that the wheelbase may tip over. If you cannot avoid difficult surfaces you must take extra care when travelling across them. 4. Do not use the wheelbase on sandy surfaces. 5. Always use two hands for pushing the wheelbase. 6. For the comfort of the occupant, avoid pushing too fast or making sudden fast turns, jerking, jolting and bumping. Occupants are likely to be affected by rough handling as it could cause them unnecessary loss of confidence, discomfort or pain. 7. Avoid kerbs and, where possible, use ramped kerbs or slopes as this will make pushing the wheelbase easier, safer and more comfortable for the occupant. 8. Avoid steep kerbs and flights of steps as you may either lose your grip on the wheelbase or the occupant could tip out. Always use a ramp or lift if available. Do not push the chair down flights of stairs as this puts strain on the pushchair and puts the occupant at risk. 9. To tip the wheelbase back, when climbing kerbs, stand behind the wheelbase and hold the push handle with both hands, then press the buggy down and pull backwards. The front of the wheelbase will lift. Take great care when doing this to avoid the combined weight of the wheelbase and occupant overcoming your strength and tipping back onto you. Never try to tip the wheelbase if the occupant is much heavier than you are. 10. Always look well ahead so that you have plenty of time to assess and avoid hazards. Document No: v9 Page 42 of 50 June 2018

11. Be considerate to other people and watch out for pedestrians who may stop or suddenly change direction. 8.2 Brakes Always put the brakes on when placing the child in or taking them out of the seat. Do not leave the pushchair on a slope, even with the brake on. Always ensure that the pushchair is on level ground to prevent risk of injury to the occupant and help prevent tipping. 8.3 Comfort 1. Always be considerate to the occupant. 2. Before setting out on a journey, make sure the occupant is both comfortable, correctly seated and that any safety harness is correctly fitted and adjusted. Always ensure that both of their feet are supported and that all clothing is tucked in and cannot catch on doorways or other obstructions. 3. Remember the occupant is in front of you. They will want to be part of conversations happening behind them. Also remember that their view may be different to yours when it comes to looking into shop windows, etc. It can be extremely frustrating to hear something exciting being discussed when it is situated somewhere beyond your vision. 8.4 Lifting and general safety 1. The wheelbase is designed to carry one person. Never allow children to play on or stand on the footrest or frame. Never hang anything such as bags on the push handle. If you do, there is a danger of both the wheelbase tipping backwards and damage to the Chassis itself. 2. If it is necessary to lift the wheelbase whilst it is occupied, always use two people (one at the front the other at the back) to avoid damage to yourself, the occupant and the pushchair. 3. For your own safety and good practice, never lift the empty wheelbase until it has been properly folded. Always use proper lifting practice. 4. Do not allow children to play with the wheelbase 5. Never leave the child/occupant unattended, even with harness fitted. 6. Keep children clear of the wheelbase during opening and folding. Document No: v9 Page 43 of 50 June 2018

9: Cleaning 1. To clean the wheelbase or interface, wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. 2. For more stubborn stains, wipe with a damp cloth and warm water mixed with a little mild soap. Dry thoroughly. 3. Never use furniture polish or any spirit to clean the frame. 10: Maintenance Should a problem be found when carrying out the regular checks, it should be immediately reported to the issuing authority (e.g. your Wheelchair Service) or Tendercare Ltd Routine maintenance The user s family can easily carry out the following tasks. No tools are required. 1. Always wipe the wheelbase and seat frame dry. Never put them away damp. 2. Check all nuts, bolts, and hand wheels are tight (daily). 3. Check operation of the brake, folding, rotation and reclining mechanisms (weekly). 4. Clean frame when necessary (we suggest at least once a week). 5. If your pushchair is fitted with pneumatic tyres, regularly check the condition of the tyre. Ensure tyres are inflated to 36 psi (if too low use a suitable hand or foot pump, do not use an air-line or mechanical inflator, and do not over inflate the tyre). In the event of a puncture, you will need to purchase a set of tyre levers and a puncture repair kit form a reputable bicycle shop. Always follow the instructions given in the puncture repair kit. If you find any faults refer to your issuing authority or Tendercare Ltd. Document No: v9 Page 44 of 50 June 2018

10.2 Six-monthly maintenance Only someone who is a competent repairer should carry out this work. If a major fault is found, stop using the wheelbase until it has been corrected. 1. Fold and open the wheelbase. Check that all movements within the range of fold are free. Examine frame for any damage. 2. Check operation of the wheelbase tilt in space mechanism. 3. Examine nuts, bolts, pivots and frame plugs for tightness and general condition. 4. Examine brake assembly for wear, damage and correct operation. 5. Examine tyres for sharp objects, cuts or splits. 6. Examine castor and wheel bearings for excessive wear. 7. Check castors and rear wheels for free rotation, security and accumulation of fluff and grit. Remove any fluff and grit with a dry lint free cloth. 8. Check the Interface fits securely into the frame interface and that it is neither worn nor damaged. 9. Check the interface clips to ensure they can rotate freely and that the springs return the clips to the closed position when released. 10. Check the handle folding mechanism for wear, damage and correct operation. 11. Check the rotation mechanism, ensure it locks securely and rotates freely when released. For all other repairs, refer to your issuing authority or Tendercare Ltd. 12: Transporting the Wheelbase The seat needs to be removed from the wheelbase in order that It can be folded for transportation in the luggage area of a vehicle. The wheelbase and interface assembly, (in its forward-facing configuration) when fitted to Tendercare s Snappi, Snugseat and Modular Seating System has been successfully impact tested against International Standard ISO and may be used as a vehicle seat. If being used with any other seating system, a risk assessment must be performed to ascertain safety, as Tendercare cannot guarantee crash safety with other seating systems. For Swirl pushchairs fitted with a Snappi seat, a standard or dynamic back support is available. It is advised that the seat back recline function should be in an upright position for transport. The dynamic strut is fitted with a restrictor to limit back recline; this should be in place when transporting the dynamic model of Snappi seat. Document No: v9 Page 45 of 50 June 2018

Tendercare Ltd highly recommends that the transport of children with a body mass of less than 22kg transfer to a Child Restraint System (sometimes referred to as an infant safety seat, a child restraint system, a restraint car seat, or ambiguously as car seats) in compliance with UNECE Regulation In order to provide the best possible protection for the child. If transfer to a Child Restraint System is not possible, due to the needs of the occupant e.g. a need for continual postural support, occupant discomfort, anxiety or a dependency on the medical device, then the decision to carry the occupant in their wheelchair or buggy should involve an individual risk assessment process. This risk assessment process should involve a therapist/competent risk assessor who would be able to support reasons not to transfer the occupant to a Child Restraint System Preparing the system for transport When using the Swirl and Tendercare seating system in a wheelchair-adapted vehicle, you must follow the steps below. 1. Check that the child is correctly strapped in the seat using the lap and diagonal seat belt, ensuring that the following safety requirements are met. Note: these instructions are for guidance and should only be carried out by someone who is fully trained in the use of wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems. a. The occupant lap belt must be routed low over the pelvis, avoiding contact with the abdomen of the passenger. Lap belt routing should be inside of the occupant side pad on both left and right sides of the pushchair. b. The lap belt should not be held away from the occupant s body by any part of the pushchair such as side pads or wheels (please see fig ). The belt webbing should not be twisted when in use. Fig Document No: v9 Page 46 of 50 June 2018

c. The angle of the pelvic belt should be within the optimal zone of 30 o to 75 o to the horizontal, as shown in Fig Fig Any harness fitted to the pushchair is for postural support only and must not be used as a transport harness. The pelvic strap must be located as low down over the hips as possible: It must not cross the stomach of the passenger. 3. To ensure that the Butterfly (Chest) harness cannot rise up and cause harm to the user, every time the harness is in use, you must ensure that all cam buckles/fixings are properly closed and that the harness is correctly positioned a minimum of 75mm below the user s neckline. Failure to comply with this could result in serious injury. 4. Remove any accessories such as a pommel, equipment carrying tray, playtray, rainhood and shopping basket. 5. The Snappi, Modular and Snugseat seating systems have been crash-tested in the Swirl chassis in both a vertical or mid-tilt position. It must only be transported in either one of these positions. 6. The wheelbase must only be transported in forward facing position i.e. where the occupant faces the direction of travel. The system in not tested for transport when configured in a rearward facing / parent-facing position. Document No: v9 Page 47 of 50 June 2018

12.2 Attaching wheelbase to vehicle 1. The wheelbase must be attached to the vehicle using a 4-point wheelchair webbing restraint. Such restraints are manufactured by Unwin Safety Systems. 2. Only a trained person should attach the restraints. 3. When fitting the restraints, please refer to the manufacturer s guidelines. Please direct any concerns or queries regarding the restraint system to the original supplier. 4. Position the assembly correctly in the vehicle over the floor track with the front of the wheelbase facing towards the front of the vehicle (in the direction of travel). You must put the brake on. The brake is needed to prevent the pushchair moving whilst fitting the restraints. Once the pushchair is correctly attached to the vehicle with a 4 point restraint system it is no longer a requirement for the brakes to remain on. 5. Attach the restraint system to the forward mounting bracket using a standard Karabiner hook (See Fig ). Attach Karabiner Hook here Fig Attach the rear restraints to the floor track and hook the two rear tie down brackets on the frame. These are positioned halfway up the rear frame, just above the brake mechanism. (See Fig ) Rear tie down bracket Fig To release the wheelbase follow the above instructions in reverse order. IN EMERGENCY PRESS THE RELEASE BUCKLES Document No: v9 Page 48 of 50 June 2018

Warning: The above only secures the wheelbase not the passenger. It is essential that a separate vehicle harness be fitted providing lap and over the shoulder protection to the passenger (See Fig on page 31). We recommend the Unwin Safety Systems Double Inertia Reel Harness be used. Fig The Swirl Wheelbase has not been crash tested in its rearward configuration, the Swirl must be reconfigured to its forward facing position before being used for transport. Document No: v9 Page 49 of 50 June 2018
