7 About Personalised Plates PPQ was established in 1998 and works together with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide Queenslanders with creative and stylish number plates. Plate Options There are currently over 200 different plate types for individual purchase in the personalised number plate range. The range is comprised of over 50 different Colour combinations, 95 different Theme Plates, 12 Prestige Plate colours, 5 Euro designs, the Signature Series, and other plates such as the 2x2 Flexi. The range is detailed in the Plates and Specifications sections of this handbook. Combinations Different styles of personalised plates have specific availability of combinations and numbers of characters that can be displayed on each plate. For example, the Colour Plate range has either five characters made up of two numbers and three letters or six characters made up of three letters and three numbers. The Prestige Plate range can have between one to seven characters in any combination of alpha and numeric. The rules regarding character formats and availability are pre-programmed into the Department of Transport and Main Roads registration database which effectively manages the specification and price of all personalised number plates. Plates for Different Vehicles Personalised number plates can be attached to most vehicle types, including both heavy and light vehicles. Motorcycles and trailers require one plate, whereas motor vehicles require two. Currently, personalised number plates can be attached to: Motor vehicles Motorcycles Large trailers Consular vehicles Conditional registered vehicles (except rally vehicles) Special interest vehicle concessions Personalised number plates cannot be sold for attachment to: Motorised wheelchairs Limousines Taxis Ambulances Small trailers Conditionally registered rally vehicles Federal Interstate Registered vehicles Farm registered vehicles AU 55 All accepted combinations are explained in each plate section of this handbook.

8 About Personalised Plates Sizing There are currently four plate sizes in the Colour & Theme plates: Standard - motor vehicles and large trailers Slimline - motor vehicles and large trailers US size - motor vehicles and large trailers Motorcycle There are three prestige plate sizes and six sizes for Q Plates. Please see the Sizes and Dimensions section for all measurements. Remakes & Redesigns Customers can remake upgrade their plate keeping the same design and combination as previous if they were damaged, lost or stolen. racks. Plate Codes The codes required for input into TICA are provided where possible in each plate section of this guide. For any queries or clarification on codes, please feel free to call. Also known as upgrades, customers have the option to restyle or redesign their personalised plate whilst keeping the same combination, giving the plate a new lease on life! Accessory Plates Either at the time of initial purchase of a personalised/standard plate or following a purchase, customers can order an accessory plate to be used on bicycle

9 About Personalised Plates Delivery Once an order has been confirmed and payment finalised, delivery should be within working days (delays may occur around the Christmas - New Year break). Plates will be delivered to the nominated delivery address (street or postal) via the Australia Post POD system, requiring a signature. Once plates are delivered, they will arrive with a Remove and/or Attach Form and Department of Transport and Main Roads Conditions of Issue and Use letter. Please refer to the TMR Forms section for more information on these. CRN A Customer Reference Number (CRN) is provided by the Department of Transport and Main Roads as a means of identification. For individuals your CRN is normally your driver licence number. For companies, where applicable, the CRN can be found on the registration certificate. If you do not have a CRN (for example if you have an international driver licence), simply contact Transport and Main Roads for further information. 10 About Personalised Plates Changing Plate Orders If you have recently purchased plates it may be possible to change colours, sizes or the combination for a modest fee. Similarly it is possible to change your ordered plates if you have not yet paid in full (for example if the plates are on LayBy, or you are paying by cheque or money order). Simply call the dealer hotline to discuss your individual situation. Plates are delivered via Australia Post, however if you notify us of a change of delivery address before your plates leave the manufacturer, the PPQ Team will do their best to have it changed for you. Warranty Personalised plates are covered by a four (4) to seven (7) year warranty (depending on the product purchased). If customers have plates that are fading or hard to read, they need to be taken to their nearest Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre or Agency to be submitted for warranty evaluation. Please note: Standard issue plates will be required during the warranty evaluation period. This cost will be refunded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads if the plates are deemed as faulty. LayBy a Combination PPQ offers an affordable LayBy option which is only available through ppq.com.au or by phoning. It allows customers to essentially reserve a combination over time as the plates are not manufactured until the final payment has been processed. Please call PPQ for all LayBy queries. Reserving a Combination PPQ can reserve a plate combination for your customer. This can be done in the dealer portal or by phone. LPG Stickers If a vehicle requires a red LPG sticker to be displayed, the white on red colour plate option cannot be selected. Purchase red LPG stickers through a distributor in your local area. Ongoing payments must be made at least once every 28 days, and are the sole responsibility of the LayBy holder. 19 New Vehicle Delivery Procedure VEHICLE PURCHASE (NEW & USED) DELIVERIES WITH PERSONALISED PLATES Please be advised that an arrangement has been made between the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Police Service with respect to the delivery of purchased (new & used) vehicles where Personalised Number Plates have been ordered but not yet received at the date the vehicle is registered in the customer s name. A customer is legally able to take delivery of a new or used vehicle and drive without registration number plates under the following conditions only: A new Personalised Number Plate product has been ordered in TRAILS on the SAME day the vehicle registration was processed; The new vehicle has been registered with this same Personalised / Prestige Number Plate combination on the SAME day the plate was processed; The customer has the relevant Department of Transport and Main Roads receipt; The customer is awaiting the manufacture and delivery of the Personalised Number Plate product; and The customer is driving within Queensland. Immediately on delivery of the Personalised Number Plate product to the dealership or an alternate address, they must be physically attached to the vehicle. 25 Auction Results Personalised Plates Queensland often holds Collector Plate Auctions which focus on the more exclusive end of the market. The rare and limited plates that go under the hammer are in demand from collectors and attract a great deal of attention from the media and public alike. The image shows some of the best sellers over the last 13 years. Historical Q Plates are sought after, as are 1 and 2 character Prestige Plates (Collector Plates). A select number of 2 character and Q Plate combinations are available for release outside of the auctions. For more information, please contact PPQ directly or head to the Q Plate website. The last Collector Plate Auction was held in 2010 however another auction is in the pipeline for the near future. 27 Department of Transport & Main Roads Forms Congratulations, your Personalised Number Plates have arrived. You ll be eager to attach them as soon as possible, so just follow these simple steps. Department of Transport and Main Roads Conditions of Issue and Use New Plates (New Combination): 1. If you wish to attach your Personalised Number Plates to a vehicle, fill in the Remove and/or Attach Personalised Number Plates form that s included in this kit, then drop it in to your closest Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre. Until this form is processed, your new plates must not be attached to your vehicle. If standard issue plates are already on your car they should be handed in at the same time. 2. Your Personalised Number Plates don t have to be attached to a vehicle. They can be attached or removed from a vehicle at any stage (in accordance with provision 1 above). 3. You acknowledge that the issue of Personalised Number Plates comprising your chosen combination of characters does not preclude Transport and Main Roads from issuing a substantially similar combination, provided it is not wholly identical. 4. If you transfer the ownership of your Personalised Number Plates, a transfer fee may be payable. 5. If your Personalised Number Plates are from the Customised/Retro range, they can only be transferred to a new owner if they are attached to a registered vehicle. 6. Motorcycles and large trailers will be issued with only one plate. Your Prestige Plate Assembly consists of a mounting bracket and a Prestige Plate. - Attaching your Prestige Plate to the vehicle with the mounting bracket, offers advantages over standard aluminium plates by allowing vertical adjustments of its position to maximise air intake flow/aerodynamics and aesthetics, these factors should be considered when positioning your plate on the vehicle. Queensland Legislative requirements regarding positioning of number plates on a vehicle must be observed. Please note: Prestige Plates are made of a special tough layered Perspex material specifically designed for number plates, sealed within an anodised aluminium frame. The Prestige Plate is made up of two (2) components: the plate and the bracket (please refer to the Prestige Plate Assembly guide below). Under no circumstances are the plates to be removed from the aluminium frame. This will immediately void the warranty. Due to the many mounting variations offered by modern car manufacturers, these plates have been produced without mounting holes. This allows you to position the holes to suit your vehicle. All required holes must be slow drilled from the back of the plate starting with a smaller drill bit to create a pilot hole (approx. half size of finished hole) and then a larger drill bit to create the required final hole size. The finished hole size must be slightly larger than the screw size to allow for thermal expansion. Ensure the drill bits are sharp and do not apply excessive pressure. Use a pedestal drill and ensure plate is adequately supported while drilling. The use of double sided tape to attach the plate is not recommended and will void the warranty of your plates and damage the paint on your vehicle. The drilling of holes and affixing of screws or bolts must not alter the appearance of the number plate in such a way that affects the identification of the registration number. Removal of the white film applied to the back of the plate will void the manufacturer s warranty. For assistance with fitment you may need to contact your motor dealer or suitable qualified trades person. If desired, most motor dealers and vehicle repairers will be able to attach your new plates for a nominal fee. Flexi Plate Care. Wash regularly with a soft cloth or sponge, using detergent and water. Prestige Plates have been subjected to a number of internal and external tests. A full replacement warranty is provided against failure of plates due to materials or faulty workmanship on all Prestige Plates for a period of 5 years. This warranty does not cover physical damage, misuse, vandalism or maintenance not in accordance with instructions above. Prestige Plates are warranted to provide an image of sufficient quality that is visually readable at 20m when viewed under general daylight conditions, for a period of 5 years. Logo - in hi-res JPG or PDF format. 3. Plate combination 3 letter 2 number e.g. ABC12 / 12ABC or 3 letter 3 number e.g. ABC123 / or 123ABC. Please note on 3x3 combinations, the logo can only be displayed in the sash. 4. Logo placement for 3x2 or 2x3 combinations in-between the letters and numbers; left or right of the combination. 5.
