2 PREFACE The Western Fuel Altereds Racing Series has been developed to provide fun, safe and affordable heads up racing. This is not an alternative sanctioning body and with that must comply with all rules and regulations of the track sanction. At NHRA tracks we are considered an association. Therefore, we are required to meet the rules outlined under ET and/or Adv ET in the NHRA rulebook. The Nostalgia Rules Supplement does not apply to our association. Prior to competition all cars must pass a safety technical inspection by the track, or track assigned personnel. Failure to comply with track requirements is grounds for dismissal and forfeiture of any monies and points associated with the event. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between the competitor and the track shall be brought to the attention of the series director prior to competition. SHOWMANSHIP You re there to put on a show! Our series is being paid for entertainment value. Please keep this in mind. Big smoky burnouts and dry hops are encouraged. Side-by-side burnouts are a must. Do not pull into the water box until both cars are ready, unless there is a definite problem. Teams are encouraged to wear shirts of matching colors on the starting line. Examples: Team themed shirt, all blue, all black, all red, etc...we want your Team to look professional. SERIES MEMBERSHIP Every competitor must be a member of the series to compete at an event. Membership dues not paid prior to the event will be deducted from the competitors final payout at the first event attended. Annual Membership: early membership due by January 31 $250. $300 after January. Non-members may pay by race at $150 per event until $300 is paid. A driver may only use their membership for one (1) event entry. If a driver has multiple cars at the event, additional memberships must be purchased. Memberships may be assigned to a car owner or a driver. At time of registration the membership type must be declared and cannot be changed until the following year. Points and Money will be allocated to the membership holder. 5/23/2017 Page 2 of 5 Competition A single car may not be used for multiple classes at the same event. Any car that is competing as part of the WFA series shall not compete in any other classes at that track during the weekend. RACE PROCEDURES You must get an ET to be paid for any round. No payout or points will be awarded for a disqualified run. Disqualified runs are defined by the NHRA rulebook. Re-runs - Allowed if previous run was disqualified by no fault of the team. (Car is shut off or no time received due to track issue) If a car cannot fire on time, the car may have the chance to re-fire during the run session. This run time will not count toward qualifying, but will be awarded 10 series points for making a pass. 1-day Race Format: First Round Everyone runs, pairings set by race director. Similar performance cars will be paired to help with the show. Points and Payout based upon ET position. Second Round Everyone runs, pairing set based upon First round qualifying, sportsman ladder. Points and Payout based upon second round ET and win/loss points Final Round The two quick Winners from Second round race in final. Win/Loss points only. If applicable, factored ET will be used to determine quick winners. 2-day Race Format: Qualifying First Round - Everyone runs, pairings set by race director. Lane choice determined by agreement or coin flip. Similar performance cars will be paired to help with the show. Points and Payout based upon ET position. Qualifying Second Round - Everyone runs, pairings set by race director. Competitor shall run opposite lane from first round. Lane determination conflicts shall be determined by agreement or coin flip. NO SINGLE PASSES WILL BE MADE DUE TO LANE DETERMINATION. Similar performance cars will be paired to help with the show. Points and Payout based upon ET position. First Round 8 car qualified field, pairings based upon sportsman ladder. Lane choice goes to higher qualified car. Points and payout based upon, win or loss. Break rule substitution applies.

Break Rule If a car has a quick enough ET to advance to the eliminations, but breaks and cannot make the call for first round, the quickest alternate will replace the broken car, in the qualified cars position. The alternate will split the round money and points with the broken car. If the alternate is replacing a higher qualified car, lane choice will go to the standard position competitor. If applicable, factored ET s will be utilized to determine the alternate car. AUTOSTART - Autostart will be utilized and set to the Top Alcohol timing system. When Top Alcohol is not available the following setting shall be used..6sm.9ss 10 total. Courteous staging is highly recommended. PAYOUT Payout may be paid at the end of the event or by mail. All payout will be done by the series. Federal tax forms will be required prior to any payout. Forms will be provided at the event. Please be prepared with a valid Social Security or Tax ID number. Purse - As advertised prior to event. Upon rainout, payout will be at the discretion of the track and the series director. POINT SERIES The Western Fuel Altereds Race Series consists of a 12-month series. Series contestants will compete for a championship based upon a point structure. Points will be accumulated at each event attended after the annual membership dues are paid. Membership dues acquired at the end of an event, qualify the individual for the points associated with the said event. The final points standing will be determined based upon the total points accumulated throughout the season. Points will be allocated as follows: Event attendance 100 pts Points awarded per payout round, based upon round performance. When non-payout runs are mandated by the track, 10 points will be awarded to every competitor that makes a run regardless of ET. Test/Tuning runs will not be awarded points. Qualifying Position Points awarded Per round All others 10 Round WIN 2 Round Loss 1 If car gets re-instated based upon the break rule, the substitute car and the no-show car will split the payout and round points. 10 round points will be awarded to any car that makes a pass during a qualifying round, regardless of et. Car must stage under power. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The following standards are set by the race series and shall not supersede rules requirements set by the sanctioning body. All cars should expect to undergo a full technical inspection at the first of the season, items in question should be clarified during this time. ANY CAR THAT RUNS FASTER THAN 6.70 IS SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE TECHNICAL INSPECTION. Failure to comply is grounds for disqualification of the entire event. BODY All cars must be front engine ALTEREDS, or modified roadsters, center steer, Nostalgia-type pre-1948 body, 23 T, Bantam, Fiat, etc. Maximum 125 wheel base. Minimum 99 wheel base. Front overhang shall not exceed 40 inches from the centerline of the front axle. 5/23/2017 Page 3 of 5

4 AIRFOIL If applicable must be in compliance with current track sanction rulebook. A rear wing is mandatory on all cars that exceed 200 mph; Wing minimum 350 sq.in. area measured on the top surface of the wing, with (2) two 50 sq.in. spill plates mounted above the cage height. Minimum 3/8-inch grade 8 fasteners. Ball lock pins prohibited. A rear spoiler may be utilized in lieu of a wing. Spoiler minimum 700 sq.in. spoiler area with (2) two 4" tall spill plates full length of deck. Wings and/or spoilers must be configured to produce downforce and stability. Any adjustment or movement during run prohibited. Front wings / spoilers are optional, however, highly recommended for cars exceeding 200 mph. EXHAUST SYSTEM Zoomie, Weedsweepers or Funny Car headers only. Collector-type headers and mufflers prohibited. IGNITION Single magneto and single coil ignition only. Mag advance or retard must be function of the driver and controlled by pneumatic solenoid only. No digital or programmable ignitions allowed. Single over-rev rpm chip box allowed. All MSD Power Grid systems specifically prohibited. Multi-step RPM limiting devices prohibited (IE, Two Steps, Six Shooters, ETC). Tamperproof Tape will be used on multi-chip boxes and wiring as required by the technical committee. All ignition systems and/or components wiring harnesses and attachments must utilize those supplied by the ignition system manufacturer. The wiring harness must be used in an unaltered manner consistent with the manufacturer s installation and instruction books. All wiring associated with the ignition system must be fully visible, labeled, and traceable. Nonapproved devices installed on the car are considered functional regardless of wiring. FUEL Racing gasoline, gasoline, alcohol, gasohol, diesel, ethanol, natural gas, and propane permitted. Nitromethane accepted. All cars may be subject to a fuel check at any time during the event. All monies and points for the event will be forfeited if not in compliance. TURBOCHARGER Maximum (2) 80mm turbos. Mechanical fuel injection only. Points type, single magneto only. All electronic devices prohibited, this includes ignition, fuel and clutch systems. NITROMETHANE (see altitude adjustment below) Nitromethane limited to a maximum 50%. Limited to a standard helix 6.71 supercharger maximum 45% overdrive and a two-speed planetary transmission. Torque converter prohibited. If you are running ANY nitro, the race director must be made aware of it. Anyone that has not disclosed nitro to the director prior to the event will not receive payout or points. The race director will then verify spec requirements. SUPERCHARGER (see altitude adjustment below) All cars must have a roots-type supercharger. Roots-type standard, highhelix, and retro permitted on gasoline-, racing-gasoline-, and alcohol-burning cars. Maximum size All high helix superchargers are limited to 30% overdrive regardless of rotor length. Hi-helix blowers are defined as any supercharger with a rotor twist greater than 60 deg. Standard helix are limited to 30% overdrive. Standard Helix 6,8,10 and no overdrive restriction as manufactured by DMPE, PSI, SSI, Fowler, Gibson-Miller mark11 or Littlefield LB20, Blower Shop SR71, limited to 20% overdrive. ALTITUDE ADJUSTMENT At tracks with an actual elevation over 4000 ft, as determined by the sanctioning body records for altitude adjustment the following rules adjustments shall apply: 30% increase above standard rule. No adjustment to nitro percentage. (50% max) Supercharger 20% x 1.3 = 26% allowed 30% x 1.3 = 39% allowed 45% x 1.3 = 59% allowed TRANSMISSION No restrictions NITROUS OXIDE Prohibited 5/23/2017 Page 4 of 5

5 OIL-RETENTION DEVICE - Engine oil-retention device mandatory. Minimum material,.050-inch aluminum or.040-inch carbon fiber/kevlar. Pan may be no wider than outside edge of the bottom frame rails and must extend to the top of the upper frame rails. Pan must be either a one-piece design or constructed as to be sealed as a retention device to retain oil. Pan must have minimum four-inch high bulkheads for oil retention during acceleration and deceleration. Front bulkhead must be forward a minimum one inch of the lower blower pulley, and rear bulkhead tight against motor plate. Bulkheads must be coved toward oil pan to assist oil in staying within the confines of the bulkheads. A nonflammable, oil-absorbent liner is mandatory inside of retention device. Minimum number of slots or holes in the walls to clear frame, steering, or lines permitted. A one race exception may be allowed by the series director upon prior approval. OIL DOWN POLICY A violation is defined as any incident requiring the use of mechanical equipment (tractor, sweeper, etc) to cleanup an oil spill. Touchup of the racing surface for maintenance is not included. First Violation Verbal warning and inspection of oil containment devices. Modifications to devices may be required by the race director prior to continuation in the event. Second Violation Competitor is disqualified from the event. All payout and points will be forfeited for the event. COMPUTERS Electronically controlled fuel systems, traction control, etc. specifically prohibited. RPM limiting devices, while legal for use on WFA vehicles are prohibited if configured in such a way as to allow full throttle opening while vehicle is staged (primary launch control), vehicle throttle must open via mechanical means at launch and cannot be held fully open during staging. Shifting Automated shifters and/or timer/rpm-type shifting devices prohibited; each individual shift must be a function of the driver. Shifting must be controlled by manual or pneumatic/electric means only (driver pulls the lever or pushes the button); electronics may in no way affect the shifting mechanism. NON-CONFORMING ENGINE COMBINATIONS This refers to any drivetrain combination not currently allowed under the rules. The penalty for non-conforming engines will be in effect for any ET quicker than 6.70 seconds. Quicker than ET - No payout, 10 points only. For qualifying the time run will be 7.50 plus the difference. So a 6.65 run would be =7.55 This applies to all qualifying rounds. In 1-day race, factored et will be used to determine quick winner. In 2-day race eliminations, standard round advancement will apply. Slower than ET - Standard points, payout and round advancement. Round money not awarded due to ET violation in race format, will be paid to the losing car for that round. In the case that both cars go quicker than the limit, all money for that pair will be retained by the WFA series. Round money in qualifying will be determined based upon adjusted ET. RULES VIOLATION The series technical director will investigate the allegation and if the car is found in violation of this rule, it will be disqualified and all monies and points will be forfeited for the event. ADVERTISING AND LOGOS All vehicles participating in the series must prominently display the series logo and any supporting sponsors during the event. A minimum of one sponsor logo on each side of the car in a conspicuous location is required. Modification of logo prohibited. Contingency stickers must be prominently displayed throughout the event on the vehicle. Specifically, prior to first pass. Failure to do so will void eligibility for award. It is the responsibility of the car owner to verify proper stickers for the event.
