2 This is a catalog of license plates currently issued by the Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services.* It is intended for use by law enforcement and other agencies that frequently deal with questions concerning vehicle registration. Some previously-issued plates do not appear in this catalog, but may be legally used. If you have questions concerning the legality of plates not listed in this catalog, call DMV s Customer Assistance Unit at (503) Oregon law defines vehicle identification plates as registration plates. The term license plate is used in this publication for clarity, since that term is commonly used to describe a registration plate. However, official documents should use the term registration plate. * Exception: Oregon Trail plates are shown but are no longer issued. The Oregon Legislature approved the issuance of Oregon Trail plates beginning November 1993 and repealed the law in 1997.
