Safety features on all three models include two rear seat restraint straps (three on Kamper), flame failure cut-outs on the cookers, isolating taps for each gas appliance, and earth leakage and overload circuit breakers on the mains electric hook-ups. Although it is not a legal requirement - motor caravans, the caravan upholstery in all Autohomes now has fire retardant foam. Both the roof ribs, fitted by Volkswagen, are left intact thus maintaining the structural integrity of the vehicle. Other features common to all three models are an insulated caravan body with double skinne z and insulated roof, extra wide double bed, two lares drawers over the engine compartment which simp/- lift out for easy servicing, water gauge, exterior lockable water filler, 12 gallon (54.5 litre) inboard water tank to help avoid freezing in winter, storage for two gas bottles, roof light with flyscreen and fixed ventilation, roof rack, 12 volt and mains electric sockets, enamelled cooker and sink with hinged toughened glass top over the cooker, separate drainer, centre leg table* (two tables on Komet), cutlery drawer, vanity unit with mirror, storage compartment for a portable flush toilet (toilet standard on Komet), and a 2 cubic foot (gross) Electrolux1' refrigerator (gas, 12 volt, mains) with freezer compartment and electronic ignition, Naturally, very comprehensive storage facilities including a wardrobe are also provided. KAMEO he Kameo, which was specifically designed for Ttwo people (although a child's cab bed is an optional extra) has an aerodynamic, low-line, double-skinned fixed roof with opening side windows, roof light and integral roof rack, which, nevertheless, provides 6' 2" of interior headroom. The Kameo also has a swivelling passenger cab seat and exceptionally capacious storage facilities inside the roof including separate "slideout" storage units for crockery and bottles. Because of the unique design of the rear seat, the Kameo (and Komet) has more uncluttered floor space than in most other Volkswagen Transporter conversions. For even greater ventilation in hot weather, or for superior viewing at sporting events, one of the sides can be folded away, without affecting the stability of the roof, to provide your own private grandstand. The roof locks down automatically when lowered, avoiding the need for exterior clips. A unique feature of the Kamper is a multiposition, sliding, swivelling, and reclining extra seat behind the front passenger seat which converts to either a forward facing seat (with restraint strap) for travelling, or to a single or double rear facing seat for dining (when used as a double the reclined seat backrest is supported by the mobile stool/storage box provided as standard in the Kamper). If required, there is the option of making this extra seat easily removable. In all, the Kamper can seat up to six adults in forward facing seats, making it an ideal personnel carrier as well as a superb motor caravan!
