4 ICON GUIDE WATER SAVING SPACE SAVING RIM-EX TECHNOLOGY WATER SAVING VitrA water saving WCs, marked with this symbol, have a special bowl structure and are specifically designed to flush with both lower (2.5/4 litres) and typical (3/6 litres) water volumes. By using less water, whilst still delivering efficient flushing, these water saving WCs benefit you and the environment. All VitrA wall-hung frames come with dual flush function as standard in both 2.5/4 litre and 3/6 litre options. A wall-hung WC solution takes up less room than a typical WC, and the concealed installation offers flexibility in confined spaces. The range of compact WCs have a shorter projection, saving even more space. Effortless cleaning and innovative, hygienic design. 6 THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INSPIRED APPROACH TO DESIGN THE ESSENCE OF VITRA In addition to our own highly-accomplished in-house design team, we also collaborate closely with a world-class team of independent designers, each with their own creative instinct and flair for bathroom aesthetics and functionality. THE ESSENCE OF VITRA OUR AWARD-WINNING DESIGN STEMS FROM A CREATIVE, COLLABORATIVE APPROACH INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION Our strong relationships with designers around the world have enabled us to push the creative boundaries of bathroom design. A key example of this is our collaborative work with German design studio NOA, which resulted in the highly popular T4, Shift and M-Line collections. This global pool of exceptional design talent has resulted in VitrA being awarded many accolades, including the Wallpaper Design Award for Best Bathroom, an Elle Décor Award, Good Design Award, Red Dot Design Award and no fewer than two if product design awards for excellence in product and design quality in NOA The German design studio NOA specialises in designing new products, technologies and communication strategies. NOA s fruitful collaboration with VitrA has created many ranges including the M-Line, T4 and Shift collections. PENTAGON DESIGN Pentagon Design is an award winning design studio based in Finland. The needs of the consumer are always a primary focus when it comes to their approach. This results in the development of product ideas and strategies that engage the user and the architectural space. MATTEO THUN & PARTNERS Milan-based Matteo Thun & Partners is a studio of architecture, design and communication that refuses to be categorised in stylistic terms. This is the reason why the studio can approach such a wide variety and scale of work, ranging from hotels to coffee cups, with endless originality and vitality. ROSS LOVEGROVE CHRISTOPHE PILLET NEXUS INDEED One of the most fascinating designers of the 21st century and recipient of countless awards, Ross Lovegrove creates sculptural and organic shapes using sophisticated technology and materials. His design concept organic essentialism is inspired by elements from the natural world which are then reshaped into futuristic forms. Based in France, Christophe Pillet s name is synonymous with stylish, functional and natural design the lightness of touch in his work is elegance epitomised. His perfect command of sensuality and refinement has made him one of the most renowned French designers to have gained global recognition. The interdisciplinary Nexus Product Design team has been developing product lines and design strategies for leading brands since Winners of prestigious international awards, Nexus has created ingenious ranges inspired by VitrA s finely honed mastery of technology and design; which are smart, elegant and subtly distinctive in style. As Europe s leading company for holistic design and brand innovations, Indeed creates compelling designs and powerful brand experiences. 7 THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INNOVATION INNOVATION THE ESSENCE OF VITRA A HISTORY OF INGENUITY INNOVATION CENTRE THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INNOVATION VitrA s rich heritage can be traced back to 1909, when renowned Turkish pharmacist Süleyman Ferit Eczacibaşi began producing bathing and cologne products at his pharmacy in Izmir. Three decades later, his son, Dr Nejat Eczacibaşi, took the family business a step further by establishing a pharmaceutical laboratory in Istanbul. The business continued to grow steadily, and by 1952 he had opened Turkey s first modern pharmaceutical factory. Within a few years, Eczacibaşi s vision had grown further still, and with the establishment of Turkey s first ceramic sanitaryware factory in 1958, VitrA was born. VitrA s Innovation Centre where all the magic happens, from the conception, development and realisation of original ideas and designs, to the innovation, planning and production of new technology and materials. Here, architects and designers are encouraged to free their imagination and original ideas are showcased in a setting that blends design with culture, art and lifestyle. It s this commitment to innovation and creativity, to constantly improve comfort, sustainability and bathroom aesthetics, that is helping us transform the traditional concept of the bathroom. THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INNOVATION VITRA S EVOLUTION Production of acrylic bathtubs and ceramic tiles begins at a factory in Tuzla. The Group s first manufacturing plant outside of Turkey opens in Ireland. Süleyman Ferit Bey, Dr. Nejat Eczacibaşi s father, is given the title of Eczacibaşi. Dr. Nejat Eczacibaşi establishes a pharmaceutical business in Istanbul, producing vitamin capsules. VitrA becomes the first sanitaryware manufacturer to receive a European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Award. VitrA is an international brand, producing 5 million pieces of sanitaryware per year, and exporting to 75 countries worldwide TODAY Eczacibaşi opens Turkey s first modern pharmaceutical factory in Istanbul. Eczacibaşi opens Turkey s first ceramic sanitaryware factory. The VitrA brand is launched. The Eczacibaşi Group begins ceramic production in Bozüyük, which over time will grow to become the Bozüyük mega complex. The Group begins production of brassware within the Bozüyük mega complex. VitrA makes its first sanitaryware exports. VitrA opens a sales and marketing office in the USA. VitrA opens sales and marketing offices in Germany and the UK, the first outside of Turkey. 8 INNOVATION THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INNOVATION THE ESSENCE OF VITRA VITRA INFINIT Bathroom products made from mineralcast are distinguishable by the thinner profile edges and clean lines. Made from a combination of natural stone powder and a polyester resin mineralcast produces a beautiful finish which is warm to the touch and easy to clean, it can also be used to create basins in wide range of shapes and sizes. Mineralcast is a hard-wearing material with the added benefit of being invisibly repairable in the unlikely event of the basin becoming damaged. The unique design of our Rim-Ex pans incorporates a water diverter to direct the flush around the bowl, which can be removed easily for cleaning. 10 THE ESSENCE OF VITRA INNOVATION THE ESSENCE OF VITRA BLUE LIFE VITRA FRESH INNOVATION THE ESSENCE OF VITRA VitrA Fresh WC pans feature an integral tank that dispenses detergent with every flush, helping to clean the pan thoroughly and protect against the build-up of bacteria. VitrA Fresh prevents the need to add cleaning agents to the cistern, which can corrode the flushing mechanism. VitrA Fresh is currently only available in WCs in the M-Line series. 12 V-CARE V-CARE BLENDS PERFECTLY WITH MOST BATHROOM STYLES SIMPLE TO OPERATE V-care can be used via remote control and has a very simple, intuitive user interface. The basic functions of the WC can also be controlled via the left and right side of the toilet itself. ENERGY-SAVING FUNCTION Select from three modes: 1. Standard 2. Energy-saving 3. Stand-by V-CARE TOUCH-FREE USE EASY TO CLEAN WC With no awkward rim to negotiate in the inner bowl and concealed fixings, the V-care WC is very easy to clean. WALL-HUNG FRAMES INSTALL AND SPECIFY WITH CONFIDENCE HYGIENIC Keeping a bathroom clean is so much easier with a wall-hung WC. All pipework, usually a haven for dust, is completely concealed, and with the WC pan fixed above the floor, it s so much easier to keep the floor clean. QUIET Not only is the cistern concealed behind a wall, but it s also manufactured with a specially-engineered fill valve, and lined with insulating styrofoam to keep filling noise to an absolute minimum. EASY ACCESS The flush plate can be removed easily, providing easy access to internal fittings. Flush plates have a 5 year guarantee. OVERFLOW An overflow pipe located within the valve acts as a safety device. Overflow pipes are tested to ensure they can cope even in high water pressure areas. STRENGTH AND STABILITY Wall-hung WC pans and their concealed frames are designed to be able to support up to 400kg. LEAK DETECTION Every cistern we manufacture is individually tested to ensure it is 100% watertight. It enables easy operation of the wall-hung frame and covers internal parts that remain in the wall. WALL-HUNG FRAMES 8 PANEL GAP The panel gap on the body is designed to provide optimum opening space for maintenance of filling or flushing units, enabling easy access to the cistern. The size of this gap is very important for servicing purposes BODY The filling and flushing valves are located in this part of the cistern. Produced from polyethylene (HDPE) raw materials, it offers more safety with its flexibility and resilience. SPECIFIC DESIGN FEATURES 7 BODY STYROFOAM The Styrofoam that coats the entire lower body prevents condensation in the cistern and ensures sound insulation. 6 FLUSHING VALVE The flushing valve transfers the water in the cistern to the WC pan for flushing. For correct and reliable functioning, flushing units are subjected to 200,000 water-tightness and accelerated life tests at the factory. 5 METAL STAND 5 3 FILLING VALVE The filling valve is the system that fills the cistern with water. The filling valve is checked in VitrA labs for water-tightness via accelerated life testing 200,000 times. The filters above the filling valve eliminate the risk of clogging, ensuring durability and a long lifetime. New VitrA filling systems ensure fast and silent filling. 4 OVERFLOW PIPE The overflow pipe in the flushing mechanism takes the safety duty in wall-hung frames. When too much water enters the cistern, the overflow pipe channels the excess water into the WC pan, preventing the risk of flooding.
