2 Why Focus on Bus Fuel Efficiency? Fuel is the largest cost item Typically 35-45% of operating/maintenance cost Cost changes can dramatically affect budgets Fuel prices can be volatile Growing world demand may mean higher prices World supply can be affected by political events The World Bank 2
