1. Preliminary Remark Dear User, With the purchase of your B+B folding wheelchair S-Eco 2 you have received a German high quality product which sets standards through its various adjustment features. These operating instructions intend to help you to familiarise yourself better with the operating and the handling of your wheelchair. Before using your new wheelchair for the first time, please read and follow the instructions in this manual carefully. The instruction manual is an integral and necessary part of the wheelchair. This is why you should keep it close by and include it when passing on the wheelchair to someone else. Any repairs and adjustments require special technical training and may therefore only be carried out by authorized Bischoff & Bischoff dealers Signs and symbols Warning! These are especially safety-relevant instructions. Follow the directions in the manual! Important! This is especially useful information on a given subject. 2. Important Safety Instructions 2.1. General Safety Instructions To avoid falls and dangerous situations, you should first practice driving your new wheelchair on level, unobstructed ground. We recommend having an assistant with you. The accompanying person should be physically and mentally capable of operating a wheelchair. Never use the wheelchair under the influence of alcohol or other drugs. Please make sure that all parts have been properly installed before using the wheelchair. Never lift the wheelchair by parts that are not fixed firmly (the armrests or legrests). Make sure that the screwing axle/floating axle are tightly in the axle holder, otherwise there is risk of injuries. Please note that displacing the center of gravity by shifting the body, or by adding loads may increase the risk of tipping over. Please have an assisting person for help when you have to get over obstacles or steps. Use the tip assist (see overview of the wheelchair) to tip the wheelchair appropriately. Steps and larger obstacles may only be crossed with the help of at least two assisting persons. For this, use lifting points 1 and 2 (see overview of the wheelchair). If equipment such as ramps, lifts or step climbing aids are available, these should be used. When driving on an incline/slope, it is necessary to be aware that a risk of tipping exists even at low angles, depending on the axle position setting. Use of tip protection is recommended. The seat materials are resistant to flammability according to and Nevertheless, you should exercise the necessary caution when smoking and you should not put a cigarette down on the wheelchair. 4 5

Avoid running against obstacles (steps, kerbs) without braking or moving down steps. Avoid using on uneven, loose surfaces. When getting into or out of the wheelchair, apply both parking brakes. All road traffic regulations must be observed when driving on public roads. The passive lighting (reflectors) of your wheelchair must always be visible to other road users. The wheelchair may not be used for transport of more than one person or any additioonal load. Make sure to only use it for the intended purpose. You must not use the handbrake to stop the wheelchair. When braking at fast speeds or on long downward slopes when using the push rims, fingers and hand surfaces become hot. Caution! Danger of burning! We recommend that leather gloves are used for outdoor use. These increase grip and protect fingers and hands from dirt and injury at the same time. Please note that the seat and backrest upholstery will heat up if directly exposed to sunlight and may cause injuries to your skin when touched. You should therefore cover these parts or protect the wheelchair from exposure to direct sunlight. Also note that the frame and upholstery parts may cool down significantly in winter. If possible, do not park the wheelchair outdoors in cold weather. When transferring between wheelchair and bed, always ensure: both parking brakes are locked. the side parts for getting in/out are swung backwards. the foot plates (for getting in/out) are folded upwards, swing inwards/outwards or are removed Anti-tip wheels (optional) The anti-tip wheels prevent the wheelchair from tipping backwards. Note that driving with anti-tip wheels on uneven ground, lift platforms and ramps is only possible to a limited extent. Ensure sufficient clearance above, below and on the sides Use on Public Roads The wheelchair is designed for indoor and outdoor use. Please keep in mind that you are using public roads and therefore have to observe all road traffic regulations. Do not endanger other road users through inconsiderate driving, especially on walkways Purpose The wheelchair is designed solely to increase mobility and to transport people with impaired mobility in accordance with indications listed. The maximum user load is 125 kg. Please note: We are only able to issue a guarantee if the product is used in accordance with the specified conditions and for the specified purpose. 6 7

The content consists of: outer package tools instruction manual pre-assembled wheelchair Delivery Your new B+B wheelchair is delivered assembled and folded in the original carton by B+B. To avoid damages during transportation, parts which have to be stuck on are delivered separately (Fig. 03). 03 Push handles Back covering Armrest upholstery 3.4. Summary Unfolding Put your wheelchair next to you. Tip it as far as necessary to relieve the drive wheel. Now push with your flat hand the seat pipe which is closer to you and unfold the wheelchair (Fig. 04). 04 Side parts Side part fixation device Seat covering When unfolding your wheelchair make sure that your fingers stay on the seat cover. Otherwise danger of trapping! Type sign Parking brake Leg rests Folding Place your wheelchair next to you. Fold the foot plate upward (Fig. 05) and undo the Velcro fastener of the back cover under the seat. 05 Liftting points Foot plate Now pull the seat cover upward until the chair is completely folded, and press the armrests together (Fig. 06). Steering wheel 02 Pay attention to your fingers during the folding process to prevent a risk of pinching

4.2. Leg rests The S-Eco 2 is equipped with removable leg rests (Fig. 07). When you get off your wheelchair make sure you NEVER step on the foot plate under no circumstances! 07 Both leg supports are supplied with the foot plates attached. The foot plates on both leg supports can be folded upwards in the sitting position. Assembling the leg rests Hold the legrests on the upper part and bring it into the leg rest fixtures so that they point outwards. Swing the leg rests forward until they lock in place (Fig. 08). Adjustment of the leg rest length The length of the leg rest can be adjusted up to 12 cm. To do this you have to undo the socket-head cap screw (hexagon socket 5 mm) and adjust the leg rest according to your choice (Fig. 11). 11 Before you start driving your wheelchair make sure that the leg rests are firmly fixed. The maximum extension length is marked! 08 Swinging the leg rests To make it easy for you to get on and off the wheelchair you can fold up the foot plates or swing the leg supports outside or inside without removing them Horizontally adjustable leg rests (optional) These are attached, detached, swung away and adjusted as the standard leg rests are. 09 Pull the button, in this way, the lock is opened (Fig. 09). Now you can swing the leg rest outwardly or inwardly (Fig. 10). If necessary, fold the foot plate upward beforehand. To get back to the original state just swing the leg rests frontally until they snap in. Horizontal adjustment functions: push lever forwards put the leg rest into the desired position by raising or lowering the foot plate bracket tube release lever; leg rest locks automatically Make sure that both leg rests are adjusted to equivalent height and that the adjusting screws are tightened!

4.3. Side parts 4.4. Brakes Swinging the side parts To make it easier to get on and off the wheelchair, both side parts with the armrests can be swung backwards. Use the lock device lever (Fig. 12), press it gently with your finger and at the same time swing the side part backwardly (Fig. 13). Locking the side parts To lock the side part, fold it forward and let it snap into the lock device with a gentle push (Fig. 14) Height adjustable side parts (optional) It is possible to equip your S-Eco wheelchair with height adjustable side parts. (only long version). The height adjustable side parts can be pivoted and are secured by a hexagon socket screw (6 mm) secured to avoid slipping out. The side part is removable and swivel-mounted. Height adjustment Use the stop lever to adjust the armrest to the desired position. 75 mm, 5 steps at 15 mm mm Armrest upholstery depth-adjustable (desk / long) When you have reached the desired position just let off the lever. The locking will snap in. The height adjustment was chosen correctly if the supported forearm forms are in a right angle with the upper arm and forearm. Using the parking brake To use the brake just push the brake lever forward until it snaps (Fig. 15). To loosen the brake, pull the lever backwards (Fig. 16) Adjustment of the parking brake If you should notice any unusual braking behaviour you have to do the following: First check the tyres for adequate air pressure. There should be a pressure of k Pa (3-4 bars) (does not apply to tyres which are puncture proof tires). Check the tread depth. Pay attention whether ther is even abrasion. If the tread depth is > than 1 mm, the tyres must be replaced by a qualified mobility dealer. Now check the adjustments of the brake. It must be adjusted in the way that there is a distance between the running surface of the wheel and the pivot bolt of 15 mm when brakes are open. The pivot bolt must be horizontal e.g. parallel to the ground. After loosening both lens head screws with hexagon socket screws (5 mm) at the brake mounting (Fig. 17) you can adjust the brakes to the correct position

The parking brakes effect only one driving wheel at a time. Pay attention to have the same air pressure on both driving wheels to achieve a directional stability. After finishing the adjustments re-tighten the screws and test your brakes. The brake system should be adjusted only by a qualified mobility dealer. In general! Since the drum brake is the most important safety device on your wheelchair we recommend the use of a drum brake when an assiisting person is frequently pushing the wheelchair, the drum brake is optionally available. Besides the drum brake allows deceleration. At a drum brake the braking shoe does not effect the tire, but brakes in the wheel hub, this braking system is largely independent of the tyre condition (air pressure) and thus significantly safer (for drum brake, see Options ) Drum Brakes Using the drum brakes by an accompanying person To stand still, just pull down the brake lever and the locking device. To loosen the hand brake, just pull the brake levers shortly. The locking device loosens automatically. Adjustment of the drum brakes The basic adjustment of the drum brake is carried out on the rope clamping screw. The final adjustments are carried out with an adjusting nut on the brake cable. If the adjusting nut is turned up, the braking efficiency is increased. The drum brakes affect only one of the drive wheels at a time! Make sure that the drive wheels have the same air pressure to achieve directional stability. Drum brakes get worn out as well. If the braking performance is reduced, the wheelchair must be withdrawn from circulation. To avoid this because of safety reasons your braking device should be checked by a qualified mobility dealer every six months! After the adjustment are made, please tighten all the screws and perform a brake test! In general! The adjustment of the brake system should be done only by a qualified mobility dealer! 18 19

4.5. Wheels and tyres The spoked wheels are tightened with a power socket wrench (M12) on the chassis suspension. (Fig. 18). 5. Asseccories 5.1. Anti-tipping wheels Drive wheels Your S-Eco 2 has puncture-proof PU tyres with tubes size 24x13/4 as standard equipment. The tyres must be replaced by your authorised dealer when they are worn or faulty. Steering Wheels Your S-Eco2 has puncture proof PU steering wheels without a valve 7 in diameter (Fig.19). Faulty or worn out wheels must be changed by an qualified mobility dealer. To achieve optimal braking safety of your wheelchair, the air pressured turnover wheels must have an air pressure of k pa (2-2, 5 bar). Always use the anti-tipping wheels in pairs. To assemble the anti-tipping wheels proceed as follows: First detach the rubber profiles of the tilt aid from the frame. Push the round profile of the anti-tipping wheels on the side frame pipe. Now bolt the tilt protection with a screw M 6 x 35 and a selflocking nut M6 in the designated drilling on the frame Therapy table If the side parts are mounted in the long position then the table is attached on the provided guides in front of the armrest. If you want to remove the therapy table just pull it out Floating axle (optionally) In order to make the transport of your wheelchair easier there is an option to equip the wheels with floating axles. The model with the floating axles makes it possible that the wheels can be removed without any tools. The principle is quite simple: Push the brake lever button of the floating axle with your finger and remove the wheel. When you want to mount the wheel back just insert it on the holder. You also have to push the brake lever button when doing so. At Desk side parts with padded armrest the table is put on with accompanying guides and is fastened with star knob screws. To remove the therapy table first unfasten the star screws and then pull out the table

6. Driving 6.1. Getting in and out from the side Move the wheelchair as close as possible parallel to the other seat. Should you want to transfer from or to another wheelchair or rehabilitation stroller, secure this one first by activating the parking brake. Secure the S-Eco 2 against rolling away accidentally by activating the parking brake. Pivot the armrest backwards and away, or remove the side part with the armrest. Fold the foot plates/footrest to the side or remove the leg rests. Now slide sideways onto the other seat. Make sure that you are sitting as far back in the seat as possible. Finally, return the leg rests to their original position and reinsert the side parts if necessary. Never climb on the footrests! Risk of tipping! 6.2. Getting in and out from the front First fold up the footrests or take off the leg rests. Move the S-Eco 2 and the current or intended seat together front to front if possible and decelerate the S-Eco 2. Should you want to transfer from or to another wheelchair or rehabilitation stroller, secure this one first by activating the handbrake. Now slide sideways onto the other seat. Then hook the leg rests back in their initial position and pivot the foot plates downwards. Never climb on the footrests! Risk of tipping! 6.3. Climbing stairs and high steps The helpers must only take hold of securely mounted parts of the frame. The lifting points are depicted in Figures 20 and 21, depending on how the model is equipped. When going up stairs, the helper behind the wheelchair pulls the wheelchair over the step, holding it by the securely mounted handles. The helper who is below takes hold of the front frame tubes and stabilises the position. At the same time, he pushes the rear wheels of the wheelchair against the steps. 20 For obstacles and stairs with more than three steps, two accompanying people must help

When going down stairs, the helper who is below brakes by pushing the wheelchair right against the steps. The helper above holds the wheelchair at the push handles, secures it and holds it in the right position. The wheelchair should roll down step by step. The frame and the push handles are the only places where you can get hold of the wheelchair to transport it. Never lift up the wheelchair at the armrests! 6.4. Driving Position yourself in the seat of your B+B wheelchair. Ensure that you are sitting as far back in the seat as possible. You can move by using the gripping wheels on the drive wheel. Be careful when taking your first rides until you get familiar with your new wheelchair and its driving ability. Wheelchairs have just limited tipping or slipping security. You have to be extra careful when braking, approaching or turning round on slopes or downward slopes. If you lean forward too much this will increase the danger of tipping, too. To make your wheelchair safer, all wheelchairs can be equipped with a seat belt (not standard equipment). To overcome obstacles easier, the accompanying person shall bring the wheelchair in the right angle to the obstacle, by pushing the foot on the tipping aid (Fig. 22). The static stability of the basic model is 5 (ca. 8 %). The critical obstacle height at the basic model in unfavourable situations is 23 mm (maximum centre of gravity shift) The critical obstacle height is the height in which the centre of gravity (with the user) is right vertical over the obstacle rim. If the user tries to put the wheelchair with the help of the driving wheels on the obstacle without having shifted the centre of gravity forwardly, the wheelchair will tip over backwardly. According to the Road Traffic Act 66/1 of 1st January 1981, hand driven wheelchairs which take part in public road traffic (even on pavements) must have lighting. S-Eco2 is equipped with reflectors (passive lighting) 2 red reflectors at the back 2 yellow reflectors at both sides If you use the wheelchair after nightfall you need additional lights (active) a white light at the front a red light at the back The functioning of these lights must be assured through a driving independent electrical circuit (batteries) 22 Before you get on or off your wheelchair you have have to lock the parking brake. You should drive outside your flat only if you have enough driving experience. If possible another person should accompany you

8. Maintenance Tips for Users 8.1. Cleaning and Disinfection The frame and the paneling of the wheelchair can be cleaned with a moist cloth. You can use a mild detergent for more stubborn dirt The wheels can be cleaned with a wet synthetic fiber brush (do not use a wire brush!) Push handles, arm pads, and seat and back pads can be washed off. Use mild detergent. Use a disinfectant listed by VAH for disinfection. Observe our included overview of the most important care, hygiene and maintenance work Check before use Brake check Make sure your brakes are operating properly before each use. It should not be possible to push the wheelchair away while the brakes are activated. The wheelchair should be easy to drive without grinding noises and with good direction stability when the brakes are released Inspection of Tires Check whether the tyres are intact and inflated to the correct pressure (750 kpa) every time before driving. 9. Maintenance Tips for Retailers We recommend to have the entire wheelchair inspected by an authorized dealer at least once a year. Should the wheelchair be faulty or defective, it should be brought to an authorized dealer for repair without delay. All information, documents and schematics necessary for repair are made available to the authorized dealer on request. There is also a training program for authorized dealers. Should you have any questions, please contact the B+B customer service at The wheelchair shall be inspected in accordance to the service schedule and must be in good condition. If you notice unusual behaviour when braking, inform your mobility dealer immediately and do not use the wheelchair

10. Storage/dispatch If the wheelchair is going to be stored or transported, all removable and not tightened parts, except of the drive wheels, have to be removed and packed in separate cartons. The separately packed parts can be packed together in a larger carton. It is recommendable to keep the original packaging for this purpose, so that it is available in case you need it. In that way your wheelchair is protected against environmental influences during storage or transport. 11. Use by others The S-Eco 2 is appropriate for use by others. For use by others, the wheelchair must first be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to the accompanying care and hygiene instructions. The product shall get checked by an authorised dealer for general condition, wear and shall get repaired if necessary. 12. Disposal If your wheelchair is no longer needed and you want to dispose of it, please contact your authorized dealer. If you want to dispose your wheelchair yourself, please ask your local disposal company for the applicable disposal regulations in your town or city. 13. Transport You can determine whether or not your wheelchair is approved for use as a seat in a vehicle for transporting disabled people by referring to the symbols on the CE sticker on the product: Wheelchair suitable for use as a seat in a vehicle for transporting disabled people (Fig. A) Wheelchair not suitable for use as a seat in a vehicle for transporting disabled people (Fig. B) Fixation points on the restraint system (Fig. C) All products approved by B+B for use as seats in vehicles are tested in accordance with ISO The tests in accordance with ISO were performed using restraint systems from AMF-Bruns. The correct mounting of the restraint system is a prerequisite for the safe transportation of the products in a vehicle for transporting disabled people and the basis for the approval. The restraint systems from AMF-Bruns provide the ideal points for the provision of restraint force for the purpose of securing the products in the vehicle for transporting disabled people (known by the German term Kraftknoten, which is defined in the standard DIN ). For the purpose of providing restraint in the vehicle for transporting disabled people (Fig. C), the products must only be secured at these specific points ( Kraftknoten points). If possible, use a permanently installed car seat and its belt system. Stow the wheelchair in the luggage space. The person responsible for the transportation should be familiar with the current regulations for transportation as well as with the method of operating the vehicle for transporting disabled people and the restraint system. Anchored 4-point restraint systems must be used to secure the wheelchair in the vehicle.if you have any queries about securing your product in a vehicle for transporting disabled people, please contact the B+B customer service department on +49 (0)700/ A B C 30 31

14. Warranty Guarantee items refer to all defects of the wheelchair which can demonstrably be referred to material defect or manufacturing defect. If there are complaints you have to provide a completed certificate of guarantee. Non-observance of the operating instructions as well as improper use, maintenance jobs and technical changes or adaptions without the permission of the Bischoff & Bischoff company, lead to guarantee loss and product liability in general.
