2 Industrial IT Extended Automation System 800xA With the Industrial IT Extended Automation System 800xA, ABB is presenting an automation system that by purposeful integration of the software and hardware components involved provides the right information at the right place in real time. Following its successful launch last year, we are now showing you the latest version of the 800xA system. 800xA Operations: 800xA Operations is an efficient, intuitive operator interface. Using the unique Aspect Object architecture, data from the entire plant are consistently managed, edited, and made available as high-quality information customized to suit the user concerned. Depending on the requirements involved, the information is individually tailored to the needs of operators, service experts or managers. In all cases, it s only a mouse-click away. The presentation is rounded off by examples from several different sectors displayed on a large-size wide-wall console. 800xA Device Management and Asset Optimization: You can use the device management and asset optimization functions to enhance energy efficiency, cut repair costs, and optimize system availability and performance. System 800xA seamlessly integrates fieldbuses and field devices of the three major field bus protocols HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus (FF) and PROFIBUS. 800xA High Integrity: 800xA High Integrity is a comprehensive, scalable safety instrumented system (SIS). It reduces the risks for personnel, installation work and the natural environment, while at the same time significantly improving the system s availability and efficiency. 800xA High Integrity, for example, meets the industrial standards IEC and IEC 61511, and covers the entire safety loop, with SIL-certified AC 800M controllers, field devices, I/O modules, sensors and actuators.

3 800xA Production Management: 800xA Production Management provides new manufacturing management functions like material tracking and electronic batch recording. 800xA Engineering: 800xA Engineering allows for integration of real-time information. There is only one source for all data in the system. This results in a consistent information flow throughout all phases of the engineering work, and increased overall productivity. 800xA Controller: In addition to the AC 800M HI High Integrity Controller, another 800xA controller, AC 870P, is available. It is designed for large to very large applications, in the utility sector, for example. Fieldbus in hazardous areas: The S900 remote I/O system can be installed directly in the hazardous areas of Zone 1 and Zone 2. It communicates via the fieldbus with the control system level, and reduces marshalling and wiring costs. The system is compactly dimensioned, sturdy, faulttolerant and easy to maintain. It offers a redundant bus structure, cyclical transmission of the HART secondary variables, plus parameterization and diagnostics of all HART field devices via the fieldbus. IT Security in Industrial Automation: The security of computer systems becomes increasingly important because automation systems include more and more components, which are integrated and networked with each other. Cyber attacks, intruders as well as unintentional or malicious security violations are threats, which have to be prevented. ABB accordingly attaches particular priority to access rights, data integrity and threat management. Freelance 800F: The compact process control system for small and medium-size plants can be completely integrated into 800xA. The new DigiVis visualization function provided in the latest version (8.1) of Freelance 800F has been optimized for high-resolution monitors. There will be a marketresponsive migration option for upgrading DigiBatch systems to 800xA Batch Management.

4 Automation solutions for industry and utilities Process control systems for power plants and water facilities With Industrial IT for Power Generation and Industrial IT for the Water Industry, we are exhibiting scalable ABB process control applications for power plants and water facilities. System solutions for the chemical industry ABB s system solutions for the chemical, pharmaceutical and consumer industries are based on the controllers of the 800xA family (AC 800M, AC 870P, AC 800F). These solutions enable the user, for example, to create and utilize specific libraries or to provide project-specific services like validation. Batch-driven production methods are monitored by System 800xA s Batch Management function. Of particular interest for applications in the pharmaceutical industry is the integration of MES functions into manufacturing management. Integration of installed ABB process control systems into System 800xA Upgrading with 800xA components will enable you to continually enhance your productivity, while protecting the capital investment in your plant. Evolution strategies for the Master, Advant Master, MOD 300, Advant MOD, Freelance, Infi 90, DCI System Six, Procontrol, Contronic P, Symphony Melody, and Symphony Harmony systems will enable you to utilize the extended automation functionalities while retaining the components close to your process, like I/Os and controllers. Next step in modular induction motor evolution At the Hanover Fair, ABB is premiering a large induction motor that constitutes a new stage of development in the field of asynchronous motors. The advantages of this new design include higher productivity and a lower vibration level, with concomitantly enhanced reliability in long-time use. Versatile and scalable: the PLC AC500 The new PLC Advant Controller 500 (AC500) is both versatile and scalable. With its modularized concept, it is ideally suited for creating customized automation systems. The AC500 is available in three different sizes, and in the smallest of these (64 kb net) can already be used as a centralized or decentralized automation component, or as a master and/or slave. For the entire AC500 series, only a single CoDeSys-based programming software package is required. Thanks to FBP (field bus plug) technology, the system can be connected up to any of the field bus systems in common use. Wide choice of communication and field bus couplers. 8 Wireless proximity switch Wireless proximity switches do not need any cables at all, thus significantly reducing the outlay required for reliable control of production machinery. FBP Field Bus Plug system This system subsumes devices, field bus plugs and an extensive choice of accessories. The FBP plug enables its users to integrate their devices into a huge range of different field bus systems. In this category, you will also find low-voltage circuit-breakers, load switches, contactors, electronic relays and power supplies, motor starters, pilot devices, miniature circuitbreakers and connecting components. The TriLine-R modular cubicle system A simple system, designed for fast planning and production, and reliable operation. TriLine-R s new profile shape is the basis for this sturdy, versatile cubicle system with its convenient expansion options. We are exhibiting type-tested switchgear combinations based on the TriLine-R system, with a rated current of 850 A to 4000 A. The IRB 6650S industrial robot The IRB 6650S is a new industrial robot from ABB, featuring a large working range unique in its category. Thanks to its high mobility, the plinthmounted IRB 6650S can not only reach particularly far and deep, but also tilt completely backwards, in order to deposit parts or change tools ideal preconditions for applications like operating a press or feeding die-casting or injection-moulding machines.

9 Power Technologies Process control & plant management Besides process control systems in their applications for power plants and water facilities, the following topics from the power plant sector will be on show: Consulting services for process controls, process equipment and electrical systems optimization. Reliable network tracking with wide area monitoring: In the newly developed system package, decentralized vector measuring instruments acquire the current and voltage vectors involved. Thanks to time synchronization throughout the system using GPS, network operations management possesses an ultra-accurate image of the system s dynamic status. Combined current and voltage sensor for gasinsulated high-voltage switchgear: Featuring state-ofthe-art sensor technology, the device detects voltage and current values for protection and counting variables. The communication interface conforms to the IEC standard. We are exemplifying this topic, for instance, by a Type VD4 vacuum circuit-breaker rated at 36 kv, where embedded poles parts are being featured for the first time in this technology. From our multifaceted R&D activities, we are highlighting five topics: Line performance monitoring Line performance monitoring can be carried out bottom-up on the basis of diagnostic information from intelligent field devices or from automatic control loop diagnostics. This is supplemented by top-down methods, such as continuous computation of line efficiency. Online production optimization Simulation and optimization procedures utilizing extensive models enable their users to run online line optimization routines addressing several different criteria, like product quality, energy costs, raw material costs, etc. The results of these optimization routines can be used as specific online aids for decision-making or in the future also facilitate complete auto-pilot operation of the line concerned. Interactive 3D visualization for control systems On the basis of a 3D plant model, coupled with information from the control system, new forms of man-machine interaction can be implemented. Automatic situation-referenced navigation in the plant model enables relevant information to be made available with swift and above all location-responsive efficacy, so as to ensure effective support for problem-solving and decisions on further action.

13 Engineering efficiency enhancement One of the first steps towards more efficient engineering is automatic transfer of data from the process level to the control system. In the future, further steps like structure generation or interlocking controls can also be automated on this basis. Intelligent, versatile robot systems If they are to be suitable for handling frequently changing tasks, robot systems have to be both mobile and responsively flexible.
