4 Description and application The result of many years' experience and cooperation with turbo workshops is the compact core assembly high speed balancing machine characterized by high accuracy and efficiency. CMT 48 VSR has been specially designed to high speed balancing of turbocharger core assemblies of passenger cars. The machine is used in the second stage of turbine reconditioning for checking whether there is any unwanted dynamic phenomenon of the rotor at nominal speed of the turbine e.g. flexural of shaft by moment of force. Balancing in full range of rotations extend the life of turbocharger and eliminates undesirable effect of whistling. The core assembly is installed in the machine to the universal socket by the use of the proper adapters. Journal bearings of the core are supplied with the oil of proper temperature and pressure, so that balancing conditions are similar to those of combustion engine. The oil is subjected to continuous filtration processes. The core assembly acceleration is done by the use of compressed air. It enables to achieve rotor velocity up to rpm. Measurement process lasts just for approximately four seconds. As a result of measuring process, graph of vibration characteristics is displayed. Balancing process is performed by comparison of selected parameters of vibrations to values specified by turbocharger manufacturers as boundary values of these parameters. Moreover, the software indicates the exact angular position of imbalance and its amount. 4 P a g e

6 Special Design of Air Drive System Design of drive system enables access to the turbo side without uninstalling the core assembly. This is very helpful in case when the angular position of compressor wheel has to be changed. Thanks to that, the machine operation is quicker and more comfortable in comparison to competition. 6 P a g e

7 SPECIAL ADAPTER SOLUTION CIMAT has developed adapters for VSR machines which are built up of two elements, plate and sleeve. The plate fixes CHRA inside the machine and the sleeve drives the rotor with compressed air. This innovative solution enables you to make significant savings in your company budget during future exploitation of the machine! Acceleration sleeve Explanation: Turbo models may differ in dimensions of bearing housing or shaft & wheel. It means that if you use oneelement adapters, you have to buy a new adapter for nearly each core assembly (CHRA). If you use CIMAT VSR machine with solution of twoelement adapters applied, you can match in pairs sleeves and plates. As a result, you will get many different configurations. Fixing Plate Example: 10 plates and 10 sleeves are equal to 100 configurations of adapters. Moreover, every plate and every sleeve is universal and fits even to dozen of bearing housings and turbo wheels. It means that if you buy just 10 adapters, you will have in fact more than a hundreds of them! This innovative solution allows your company to save considerable amount of money! 8 MEASURING UNIT The advanced measuring unit ROTORTEST 610 is equipped with 17 LCD industrial touch screen for balancing results presentation and has installed sophisticated software, based on Microsoft Windows XP Embedded, which makes machine operation easier than ever before. The measuring unit enables to save data on external storage via USB port (pen drive), send it via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and print the balancing reports out with built-in laser printer. One of the most special features is the possibility of remote connection to the machine via Internet by TeamViewer. If the machine owner let the manufacturer access the machine, the manufacturer may watch information currently displayed on the screen, may have access to the parameters of the electronic modules or system resources.
