4 1. A41 Project Description The missing link of a motorway which allows users to commute from Annecy to Geneva in less than 30 minutes.

20 4. The construction challenge A tight program: 9 months for the development, 29 months for the construction. A difficult construction site : A lot of works in the same time and in a short period, A hilly landscape, Limited number of areas designed for temporary and definitive deposits.

29 5. The motorway exploitation Traffic update : Trafic Maximum Case Reality and reforcast Minimum Case

The motorway exploitation Traffic update: Traffic level at the date of opening to public was below the original forecast but the yearly increase is quite encouraging, the regular traffic reviews are confident, and the model allows theses discrepancies. The opening to traffic below the forecasted level will therefore not impact the future of ADELAC.

The motorway exploitation Environment follow up: In conformity with French regulation ADELAC has asked for a full audit of its environmental actions during years 2010 and This audit was focused on the impacts of the new motorway on: the noise level, the air pollution, the landscapes, the water pollution, the wildlife and plant life.

32 5. The motorway exploitation This audit has been done with a large collaboration of different environmental associations : REPTILES AMPHIBIAS ACOUSTIC AIR WATER LANDSCAPES BIG ANIMALS STREAMS HUMID AREAS PLANTS BIRDS DRAGONFLIE

33 5. Environmental Audit Results Noise: Protections were installed along the motorway (acoustic walls and large embankments) 35 measure points along the motorway NONE is above the regulation in 2009 and nor in 2039 with a calculation based on the traffic hypothesis.

Environmental Audit Results Air quality: 35 measure points along the motorway where some measures were originally made although some of them show a significant increase of nitrogen dioxide or benzene, which is quite logical, NONE is above the regulation, except where we are too close to the RD 1201 (which is the adjacent toll free road)

Environmental Audit Results Water quality (coming from the motorway): 4 campaigns of 4 measures on all the rejection basins (water entering the basin, exiting the basin plus one measure before the motorway and one after the water has been rejected in the natural area) during 2009 and Results are globally good, except after high period of winter treatments (salt)

36 5. Environmental Audit Results Wildlife collisions: Systematic follow up of animals collected on the motorway. During 2009 / 2010 campaign : 39 mammals showing some localized breaches in the fence => immediate repair An area concentrating some collisions with birds of prey => 2012 will see the planting of complementary trees in order to force the birds to fly higher and try to reduce this impact. Increase of collisions on neighbour networks (either with no fence or with too old fences)
