Please read the following instructions carefully before unpacking the unit as they help improve the unit s reliability. The choice of the operating site, set-up and installation of the unit or units should be performed by qualified personnel. 6 SAFETY REGULATIONS SAFETY REGULATIONS Steripower is an easy-to-use unit that does not require any special safety regulations. Before starting up the unit, note the following: > Read the manual thoroughly before starting up the unit. > The unit must be installed by in-house technicians, qualified personnel, or by a customer or operator with appropriate specialist skills. > Personnel must be familiar with the performance and features of the unit. > Only approved disinfectants may be used. > General hygiene regulations must be observed. > No modifications may be performed on the unit (apart from the use of original spare parts), otherwise the guarantee becomes void. > Signs on the unit that have been rendered illegible should be reordered and replaced immediately. > Use the Steripower and its accessories as intended, properly and exclusively according to the manufacturer s instructions. 8 UNPACKING & INSTALLATION UNPACKING Before unpacking, check the packaging for any transport damage. Do not use any pointed or sharp objects for opening. Remove the unit, drilling template, screws, wall plugs and charger from the box. INSTALLATION 1. Remove the front cover: Vertically pull the lug on the underside of the unit. (see page 01 / item 2) 2. Remove the inner cover: In the window, use your index finger to gently pull the cover while at the same time drawing it forward. 3. Install the backplane: Check that the installation surface is even. With the help of the drilling template, install the backplane at the wall using wall plugs and screws. Installation at approx. 90 cm (for predominant usage by children approx. 70 cm) above the floor (measured from the bottom of the Steripower). 4. Rechargeable battery connection: charging is only possible if the cables are correctly attached to the battery. (see page 01 / item 7) 5. Charging: Connect charger to charging socket (underside of the unit on the left). Important: The rechargeable battery is not completely loaded and must be fully charged before startup Caution: Danger of electric shock! Steripower with integrated mains adapter (item 10100) may be installed by qualified personnel only. Please deenergize wall cable before installation (e. g. by switching off the fuse) (see page 01 / item 5). Charging continues as long as the LED of the charger is illuminated in green. Charging takes about 24 hours. 6. Quantity setting: The quantity of the liquid is regulated by a push-button. The ex works presetting is 1.5 ml. Every time you press the button, the LED lights up in red. The button is located on the PCB (see page 13 / item C). Setting levels: The red LED flashes: 1x = 0,5 ml 6x = 3,0 ml 2x = 1,0 ml 7x = 3,5 ml 3x = 1,5 ml 8x = 4,0 ml 4x = 2,0 ml 9x = 4,5 ml 5x = 2,5 ml 10x = 5,0 ml If there is not enough or too much liquid, you can fine tune the amount using a watchmaker s screwdriver and turning it clockwise or counter clockwise. 9 INSTALLATION INSTALLATION 7. Medical Pad (consumable item 12020): Absorbs residual liquid and vapor from all types of disinfectants. 8. Check the LED display: (see page 01 / item 11) LED flashes green at 2-second intervals: Battery is operational! LED flashes red-green at the same time: Recharge battery! Only for Steripower with rechargeable battery (item 10040) LED flashes red: Immediately recharge battery! Only for Steripower with rechargeable battery (item 10040) 9. Replace the rechargeable battery: Contact qualified personnel to recharge or replace the rechargeable battery or follow the instructions. Caution: The protective caps of the rechargeable battery serve as a short circuit fuse! Only for Steripower with rechargeable battery (item 10040) 10. Counter: (optional item no ) The counter displays the total number of previous spray applications as well as the set spray quantity per application in ml on a digital display 1. To activate the counter, point it at the (LEDs) and hold down the power button 2. The digital display switches automatically between the screen for ml and the screen for previous spray applications Close the unit: Fit front cover at a 90 angle to the unit. Place the top edge above the locking mechanism and press down on the lower section until it snaps into place. Check unit for proper operation. 07 INSTALLATION

10 OPERATION & FUNCTION AREAS OF APPLICATION The Steripower automatic spray unit has been specifically designed for conventional hand hygiene and ensures that hands are disinfected as quickly and effectively as possible. Areas of application include: hospitals, doctors surgeries, retirement and nursing homes, laboratories, the food and pharmaceutical industry, hotels and gastronomy, as well as public institutions with a lot of foot traffic. OPERATING THE UNIT > Without touching the unit, insert your hands into the spray channel with your palms facing upwards. > Bend your finger tips upwards. white edition > A sensor ensures that your hands are automatically sprayed with disinfectant. > The quantity of spray can be adjusted as necessary (see page 6 / item 6) > Remove your hands from the unit and rub them to ensure that pathogens are eliminated as effectively as possible. 11 OPERATION & FUNCTION SPRAYING AND APPLICATION TIMES recommended quantity of spray in ml and application times in min: Hygienic hand disinfection: Surgical hand disinfection: at least: 3 ml (quantity) at least: 5 ml (quantity) Hands must be sprayed and kept moist for the application times specified for the relevant alcohol-based hand disinfectant. The manufacturer s specifications must be observed! The quantity of spray can be adjusted in increments of 0.5 ml between 0.5 ml and 5 ml (see page 6 / item 6). DISINFECTING HANDS WH DEALING WITH FOOD Hands are disinfected to prevent germs of any kind contaminating foodstuffs. Hands should be disinfected to prevent germ contamination after eating, using the toilet and switching between raw ingredients, such as chicken, vegetables or eggs. Touching foodstuffs with disinfected hands does not adversely affect food. Conversely, hands that have not been disinfected may contaminate products with germs. Germs reproduce extremely quickly (cells division every 20 minutes)! 09 OPERATION & FUNCTION

12 OPERATION & FUNCTION CHANGING THE LIQUID CONTAINER > Pull down the lug at the underside of the cover. > Remove the front cover by lifting it slightly and pulling it to the front. > Remove the stopper and pull the suction line out of the empty container. > Insert the suction line including stopper into a full container (up to a maximum of 1000 ml) and press the stopper down gently. > BIf the container is of a different size, move the stopper up or down on the suction line. > Always cover the liquid container with stopper to prevent liquid from escaping. > Hold front cover horizontally to the unit, position it on the upper part and push it down on lower part until it snaps into place. > Activate the sensor several times to make the unit suck up liquid. SPECIFIC INFORMATION If the unit has not been used for an extended period of time, rinse it several times using pure alcohol before use to remove any deposits. Exchange lines if required. 13 OPERATION & FUNCTION GERAL INFORMATION For Steripower with direct mains connection (item no.: 10100): De-energize device before opening the cover - e.g. by switching off the fuse! Prior to maintenance work or to disconnecting the unit from the mains, the unit must be disconnected from the power supply by pulling the mains plug and/or deactivating the fuse. When pulling the mains plug, please make sure to pull at the mains adapter and not at the cable to avoid damage to the electric cable. The mains plug should be easily accessible. Only use the original recharger or mains adapter supplied with this disinfection unit. Do not use a damaged recharger or mains adapter. If the recharger or mains adapter are defective or damaged, they may only be replaced by an original spare part. The rechargeable battery has to be disposed off according to applicable regulations and must not be dumped in the normal household waste. Rechargeable batteries can be delivered to the collection point of the official waste management representatives of the community. If the unit is frequently used, we recommend changing the medical pad in the collection dish. This eliminates the risk of ignition as well as the need to remove residual liquid or ventilate the room after an excessive dose or frequent use. Smoking is not permitted during use! 11 OPERATION & FUNCTION

14 MAINTANCE & CARE DISINFECTANT Optimum results are achieved with alcohols (ethanol, isopropanol, n-propanol) in a +/- 70% alcohol-based disinfectant. In other words, all standard, approved alcohol-based hand disinfectants. MAINTANCE & CARE The technical or electronic part of the unit should only be serviced by qualified personnel or in-house technicians. Only use original spare parts. Do not modify the unit without consulting the manufacturer. Keep the unit clean. Use a soft cloth and a standard detergent to clean the unit. Clean the stainless steel unit with a stainless steel cleaner Do not spray with water and do not use compressed air or solvents to remove dirt or residues. If the unit will not be in use for an extended period and prior to recommissioning the unit, rinse the system several times using pure alcohol. Possible clogging is thereby removed. Charge the rechargeable battery for 24 hours and then disconnect the positive terminal and secure using a protective cap (yellow)! MAINTANCE & CARE 12

16 TROUBLESHOOTING Please avoid sending the unit for repair in case of malfunction without having contacted your specialist retailer or the service hotline. Most of the time, troubleshooting is possible via telephone. Contact the service hotline +49 (0)8151 / QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Red LED indicator flashes. Unit is no longer working! Recharge or replace the rechargeable battery. No LED display! The rechargeable battery is completely flat, recharge or replace if necessary. The fuse (see page 13 / item G) on the PCB is faulty, replace with a 1.6 ampere T (slow-blow) fuse if necessary. No spray or spray is irregular! Check the amount of liquid in the container and refill if necessary. Check that the motor is running (pump motor unit). Check for presence of bubbles in tubes that transport liquid and make sure that the tubes are attached correctly. The red nozzle on the pump is clogged. Release pump retainer and push the pump up from below. Unscrew the red nozzle and use a fine needle to clean the tiny hole at the spray opening. Screw the red nozzle back on and set the correct spray jet (cone-shaped) by twisting the nozzle between the open or closed position. Place the pump back in the retainer and lock it into place. Should the mentioned measures not be successful, please contact the service (see service sticker page 01 / item 12) Too much or too little liquid (in ml) is dispensed! Use button C to regulate the amount of spray (see page 13 / item C and page 06 / item 6 - adjustment of amounts) TROUBLESHOOTING 14

17 TROUBLESHOOTING QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Ways of powering the unit! The unit is powered by a rechargeable battery (item 10040) The unit can be powered by a rechargeable battery (item 10040) with the charger plugged into the mains. The rechargeable battery will continue to power the unit even in the event of a power failure. The unit can also operate without a rechargeable battery by using a power supply unit (item 10100). The customer can purchase an additional replacement of the rechargeable battery including charging cable (item 11190) and can charge the rechargeable battery in the office or in a technician s room. Recommendation: To avoid malfunctions, recharge the rechargeable battery for 24 hours every four weeks (at a usage of approx. 100 per day)! The unit drips continuously! The valve needs to be replaced. Order a valve (item 11150) or contact the service hotline (see service sticker page 01 / item 12) Liquid is leaking from the unit! The Medical Pad (item 12020) in the collecting dish is no longer absorbent and must be replaced. Please ensure that the flat side of the black disc is attached to the wall of the unit. Recommendation: Change the pad after 3-4 bottles (or after 2 months at the latest).. Cannot charge the unit! 18 Operating instructions for lead battery charger Technical data For 12 V rechargeable lead (Pb) batteries Electronic protection against reverse polarity Electronic protection against overcharging Electronic protection against short circuits Charging according to the IUoU characteristic Automatic recharging trickle charging The charger can be used anywhere in the world ( V AC) LEDs The LEDs indicate the following operating states: LED lights red: reverse polarity LED lights green: charging; turns off at the end of charging CAUTION Only ever charge rechargeable lead batteries; charging other types of batteries carries a risk of explosion! Connect the 12 V rechargeable lead battery with the correct polarity. CABLE LUG ADAPTER Connect the adapter cable to the charging connector of the unit. Tighten the cable lugs on the rechargeable lead battery using the correct terminals. Connect the black cable lug with the minus terminal (-) and the red cable lug with the plus terminal (+). Plug the unit into a mains socket. After contact is established, the charging begins automatically. The green LED lights to indicate charging. The LED turns off once charging is complete. The rechargeable battery is still buffered with a trickle charging current after charging. Once the charger has been disconnected from the mains power supply, the rechargeable battery can be disconnected from the charger. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LEAD BATTERY CHARGER 16

19 Operating instructions for lead battery charger STANDBY AND PARALLEL OPERATION WARNING Explosive gases can occur when charging rechargeable lead batteries. Please ensure that sufficient ventilation is available, and avoid fire and naked light. MAINTANCE Clean the unit only after it has been disconnected from the mains power supply. Use a dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not take the unit into operation if the housing or mains connector is damaged. In the event of defects in the unit, please contact your authorized dealer or send an to service@steripower.de SAFETY INFORMATION The charger is only permitted to be operated in dry, closed rooms. Keep the unit dry in order to prevent the danger of fire or electrical shock.
