5 About this Product 1 About this Product The turbine meters turbodos are designed to meter the flow rate of drinking water for controlling systems. 2 Safety 2.1 Identification of the Notes on Safety The following terms are used in the present operating instructions to indicate the various severity levels of the danger: WARNING Characterizes a possibly hazardous situation. Your life is in danger or there is a danger of serious injury if these notes are disregarded! CAUTION Characterizes a possibly hazardous situation. There is a danger of slight or minor injury or damage to property if these notes are disregarded! The following warning signs are used in the present operating instructions to indicate different types of danger: Warning of danger area Warning of hazardous electrical voltage 2.2 Proper Use The turbine meters turbodos are designed to meter the flow rate of waters similar to drinking water for controlling systems. All other uses or modifications are prohibited. The turbine meters turbodos are not designed for applications which require a drinking water approval. The turbine meters turbodos are no flow meters tested according to the German Weights and Measures Act. They are not designed to meter domestic water consumptions. Only use the turbine meters turbodos as described in the operating instructions for Ultromat. The turbine meters turbodos may only be assembled and installed by qualified personnel. You are obliged to observe the information in the operating instructions on the various life phases of the system! 3 Storage and Transport Only store and transport the turbine meter turbodos in a suitable packaging! Permissible storage and transport temperature: -10 C bis +70 C ProMinent Page 5

6 Design and Function 4 Design and Function 4.1 Design The turbine meter turbodos consists of a measuring tube (1), the turbine (2) with integrated solenoid, a sensor with the evaluation electronics (3) Measuring pipe 2 Turbine 3 Sensor with evaluation electronics (fluid gauge chamber) Fig. 1: Section of turbine meter turbodos 4.2 Function The water which flows through the water meter moves the turbine wheel. The sensor detects the turbine cycles via the solenoid in the turbine wheel. The evaluation electronics converts these pulses into a transistor contact output signal (make contact). Page 6 ProMinent

7 Installation / Technical Data 5 Installation 5.1 Installation, hydraulical CAUTION When installing, please note the flow direction of the turbine meter turbodos - see arrow at the housing! Thoroughly remove any foreign material from the pipe and the turbine meter turbodos. Install the turbine meter turbodos according to the generally acknowledged rules of technology! Install the turbine meter turbodos in the water pipe via the screw connections. Do not forget the gaskets! 5.2 Installation, electrical WARNING Risk of electric shock! High electrical voltage may exist in the control cabinet of the system! The electrical installation of the turbine meter turbodos may only be performed by a qualified electrician!
