3 Silverson High Shear Mixers are supremely efficient and rapid in operation and are capable of reducing mixing times by up to 90% when compared to conventional paddles or agitators. The action of any Silverson mixer can be modified with the use of rapidly interchangeable workheads. This enables any machine to mix, emulsify, homogenise, solubilise, suspend, disperse and disintegrate solids. How the Silverson Mixer Works The high speed rotation of the rotor blades within the precision machined mixing workhead exerts a powerful suction, drawing liquid and solid material upwards from the bottom of the vessel and into the center of the workhead. Centrifugal force then drives the materials towards the periphery of the workhead where they are subjected to a milling action in the precision machined clearance between the ends of the rotor blades and the inner wall of the stator. The Silverson Principle This is followed by intense hydraulic shear as the materials are forced, at high velocity, out through the perforations in the stator and circulated in the main body of the mix. The materials expelled from the workhead are projected radially at high speed towards the sides of the mixing vessel. At the same time, fresh material is continually drawn in to the workhead maintaining the mixing cycle. The effect of the horizontal (radial) expulsion and suction into the workhead is to set up a circulatory pattern of mixing. As a result of this there is no unnecessary turbulence at the surface. So long as the machine is correctly chosen for size and power, the entire contents of the vessel will pass hundreds of times through the workhead during the mixing operation to give uniform progressive processing and homogenisation. A further benefit derived from the controlled mixing pattern is that aeration is minimized.

Batch High Shear Mixers This highly universal range of mixers is characterized by their high efficiency and flexibility, coupled to a robust and simple construction which keeps maintenance and downtime to an absolute minimum. Each machine ranging from 0.25 kw to 150 kw employs the special Silverson interchangeable rotor/stator mixing workheads, offering unparalleled versatility and allowing its use on a wide variety of different products. Small to medium scale machines can be used with a mobile hydraulic floor stand. This option greatly increases the flexibility of the machine allowing it to be used with a number of different vessels. In-Line High Shear Mixers For the continuous processing or batch recirculation of products, Silverson has a complete range of high shear In- Line mixers from the 0.5 kw laboratory unit to the 150 kw Multishear Mill. Designed to exacting standards, their construction makes it physically impossible for any materials liquid or solid to bypass the precision rotor/stator workhead. The machine s own high volume centrifugal action from 1 litre/minute up to 200,000 litres/hour will in most cases satisfy the user s requirements without the need for auxiliary pumps.

5 For Every Need Duplex Specifically developed for the disintegration and solubilisation of solid rubbers and polymers, the Duplex s twin workhead assembly is ideal for the high speed production of luboils, adhesives, rubber solutions and bituminous compounds. Other applications include the production of varnish and the disintegration and homogenisation of fruit, tissue and bone. MIXING EMULSIFYING HOMOGENISING DISSOLVING SUSPENDING SOLUBILISING MILLING DISPERSING DISINTEGRATING SOLIDS Flashblend (Powder/Liquid Mixing) Incorporating powders into liquids and achieving a consistent homogeneous product, time after time, is one of the most difficult of all mixing applications. To meet this challenge Silverson has developed the Flashblend. Specifically designed to produce an agglomerate-free solution without entraining air, the Flashblend can incorporate powders at rates up to 15,000 kilos/hr. faster than any other conventional method available. Excellent for use with a wide range of powders, including thickeners and stabilisers, caseinates, flour, starches, powdered milk, clay, etc., the Flashblend will allow you to speed up your production times by up to 90%. Now you can accomplish in minutes what it takes hours to accomplish with other mixing systems. REDUCING AGGLOMERATES REACTION ACCELERATING HYDRATING Disintegrator 2500 The Disintegrator 2500 mixing system will disintegrate, solubilise or disperse the largest of solids up to 1000 mm across in a single operation. The Disintegrator 2500 incorporates a powerful and unique Silverson mixer located in the bottom of a custom-built vessel. The mixer exerts a massive suction downwards from the surface of the liquid, pulling down even the most buoyant of solids, no matter what the size. These solids are literally ripped apart and dispersed throughout the mix, and with the refinement of a Silverson In-Line mixer, included in the system, are totally solubilised or suspended. Capacity ranges from 1, ,000 litres.
