Always switch off the machine and pull out the spark plug boot Before carrying out any maintenance work. Caution: Hot machine parts. Keep your distance. Do not stand or step on any part of the unit. 2

Never allow people unfamiliar with these instructions to use your Vac & Blow. Never operate your Victa Vac & Blow without the bag properly fitted. If the bag is not properly fi tted the machine may move forward or project particles out of the discharge chute. These particles may cause injury. The operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property. Have your Victa Vac & Blow inspected and serviced at an approved service centre or agent if: o The engine, or switch needs repair or maintenance. o It is running abnormally or erratically or vibrating excessively. o It is dropped or damaged in any way. Never allow children to use or play with your Victa Vac & Blow. While using the Victa Vac & Blow, always wear substantial foot wear and long trousers. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery that can be drawn into the air inlet. Keep long hair away from the air inlets. Avoid vacuuming fi shing line, string, plastic bags or similar material into the unit as tangling with the impeller may cause the motor to overload and stall. If this occurs, switch the Vac & Blow off. Do not allow the Vac & Blow to remain switched on in the stalled or overloaded condition. Avoid vacuuming metal parts/debris into the unit as this will damage the unit. Unit Safety Inspect the entire unit before each use. Do not use the unit if it is running erratically. Have it serviced promptly. Learn how to stop the engine quickly in an emergency. Stop the engine when the unit is unattended, even for a moment. Never allow children or unauthorised persons to operate the unit. Do not cover muffl er or restrict airfl ow to muffl er. Fuel Safety Use a container approved for fuel and a funnel to avoid spillage. Mix and pour fuel outdoors where there are no sparks or fl ames. Frequently check for fuel leaks and clean carbon from the muffl er at exhaust outlet. 8 USING YOUR VAC & BLOW BEFORE YOU START Ensure that the handle has been correctly fi tted and is fi rmly fastened to the machine (see assembly instructions). Always ensure that the vacuum bag is fitted to the Vac & Blow before switching on in both Vac & Blow modes (see assembly instructions). USING VACUUM MODE Ensure the Vac & Blow is switched off. Turn function switch clockwise until the arrow on the switch lines up with the arrow for Vac mode. Start engine as described in section Starting Engine on page 8. Vac away debris by moving the Vac & Blow over the area to be cleared. Stop the engine - whenever you leave the machine; - before clearing a blockage; - before checking, cleaning or working on the appliance; - if the unit starts to vibrate abnormally. Operate the unit only in daylight or in good artifi cial light. Do not overreach and keep your balance at all times. Always be sure of your footing on slopes. Walk, never run. Keep all cooling air inlets clear of debris. 6

Check that all moving parts move smoothly before you start using the machine. Check that all screws are securely fastened and also check all the safety devices. Check the machine for the following each time before use: That there are no leaks in the fuel system That all screws are securely fastened That the bag is correctly fi tted Fuel and oil Recommended fuels Use only a mixture of normal unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine oil. Mix the fuel mixture as indicated on the fuel mixing table. Start the machine at least 3 m away from the refuelling site to avoid the possible risk of fi re. Do not smoke whilst refuelling or working with the machine. Do not use the Vac and Blow near infl ammable liquids or gases. This could result in an explosion and/or fi re. Do not use a fuel mixture which has been kept for longer than 90 days. Only use containers designed and approved for the purpose to transport and store fuel. Do not use 2-stroke oil other than the recommended mixing ration of 25:1. If inadequate lubrication causes engine damage, the manufacturer's engine warranty will be voided. Pour the correct quantities of petrol and 2-stroke oil into a container. Then shake the container well. Fuel mixture table Normal VICTA Special Petrol (Unleaded) 2 stroke oil 2 stroke oil 5 litres 200ml or 100ml Victa Formula V 2 stroke oil 7

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Operation Starting the engine when cold Fill the tank with the required amount of oil/petrol mix. See Fuel and oil (page 7). Choke (1) Set the machine down on a hard, level surface. (2) Set the choke lever. ( ) (3) Press the fuel pump (primer) 10 times (this is found under the air filter housing). (4) Ensure the 'STOP SWITCH' is set to the 'ON' position. (5) Hold the unit firmly by the handle, pull out the starter until you feel it start to resist. Ensuring that the direction is straight out of the eyelet (not chaffing on the edge), tug sharply on the starter cord until it starts. Please note: As cord is pulled, compression of engine will cause some resistance. (6) Once the engine has started, move the choke lever immediately to ( ) and allow the machine to warm up for approx. 10 seconds. Never allow the starter cord to snap back. This may damage the machine. If the engine does not start up, repeat steps 5-6 above. 8

If the engine does not start up even after several attempts, read the section on Troubleshooting Always pull the starter out in a straight line. IF THIS IS NOT FOLLOWED, STARTER CORD WILL BE FRAYED AND CORD WILL BREAK! This is not covered by the Product Warranty. Starting the engine when warm If the machine has not been switched off for more than minutes Set the machine on a hard, level surface. SWITCH THE ON/OFF SWITCH TO ON ( I ). Hold the machine firmly and pull out the starter until you feel it start to resist. Ensuring that the direction is straight out of the eyelet (not chaffing on the edge), tug sharply on the starter. The machine should start after 1-2 tugs. If the machine still fails to start after 6 pulls, repeat steps 1-6 for starting the engine when cold. Switching of the Engine Emergency Stop procedure If it becomes necessary to stop the machine immediately. Let go of the throttle lever and move the stop switch to 'OFF'. Practical tips Practice all operating techniques with the engine switched off before you start to use the machine. 9

MAINTENANCE & CARE Maintenance Chart Maintenance Always switch off the machine and pull out spark plug H.T. lead before carrying out any maintenance work. Maintenance of the air filter Dirty air filters reduce the engine output by supplying too little air to the carburettor. Regular checks are therefore essential. The air filter should be checked monthly and cleaned if necessary. If the air contains a lot of dust, the air filter should be checked more frequently. 1. Remove the air filter cover 2. Remove the filter element 3. Clean the filter element by washing in soapy water and allowing it to dry completely. 4. Soak in a mixture of 2 stroke oil and squeeze filter to remove excess. 5. Assemble in reverse order. Never clean the air filter with petrol or inflammable solvents. Make sure Air Filter is fitted correctly, (warranty will be void if engine is damaged due to incorrect fitment) Maintenance of the spark arrestor mesh (where fitted) 10

Maintenance of the spark plug (Victa HA25735S or NGK BMPR7A) Spark plug gap = inch (0.7 mm). Tighten the spark plug with a torque of Nm. Not Check the spark plug for dirt and grime after 10 hours of initial operation and if necessary clean. Thereafter service the spark plug after every 50 hours of operation. 1. Pull off the spark plug boot by twisting. 2. Remove the spark plug with the supplied spark plug tube spanner. 3. Assemble in reverse order. for 11

MAINTENANCE & CARE Storage If you fail to follow these instructions correctly, deposits may form on the interior of the carburettor which may result in the engine being more difficult to start or the machine suffering permanent damage. Carry out all the maintenance work. Drain the fuel out of the tank. When the fuel has been drained, start the engine. Allow the engine to run at idling speed until it stops. This will clean the remainder of the fuel out of the carburettor. Leave the machine to cool (approx. 5 minutes). Remove the spark plug. Place a teaspoon full of 2-stroke engine oil into the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole. Pull the starter several times carefully to wet the internal components with the oil. Fit the spark plug again. Clean the exterior housing of the machine. Store the machine in a cold, dry place where it is out of the reach of ignition sources and infl ammable substances. Fertilizers and other chemical garden products often contain substances that accelerate the rate of corrosion of metals. Do not store the machine on or near fertilizers or other chemicals. Restarting Remove the spark plug. Pull the starter cord several times to clean the oil residue out of the combustion chamber. Clean the spark plug contacts or fi t a new spark plug. Fill the tank. See the section entitled Fuel and oil. Complete steps 1-6 described under the point entitled Starting the engine from cold. Transport To transport the machine, fi rst empty the petrol tank. Clean coarse dirt off the machine with a brush or hand brush. Dismantle the long handle, reverse of the assembly instructions (see page 5). 12

USING BLOW MODE Ensure the Vac & Blow is switched off. Turn function switch anti-clockwise until the arrow on the switch lines up with the arrow for Blow mode. Blow away debris by moving Vac & Blow forwards while using a sweeping motion as shown. Never blow debris in the direction of bystanders. Avoid moving the Vac & Blow backwards over uncleared surfaces when using Blow mode. Locking EMPTYING THE BAG When the bag is full switch the Vac & Blow. Unlock the bag locking collar by pulling up towards the handle Grip the bag handle and squeeze the yellow part to disengage the latch. When the latch is disengaged the weight of the bag will need to be supported by the operator. Pull the top of the bag frame away from the Vac & Blow, letting the bag rest on the ground. Using both hands, carry the full bag to your rubbish receptacle or compost heap, making sure to keep the bag opening facing upwards. Invert the bag to empty the mulched debris. If material becomes stuck in the bag unfasten the two Velcro tabs at the top of the bag and turn bag inside out. collar Emptying bag Unlatching bag 13

MAINTENANCE & CARE UNBLOCKING THE BLOW TUBE In the event that the blowing tube or nozzle becomes blocked, follow these instructions for unblocking: 1 Switch the Vac & Blow off. 4 2 Remove the two screws located beneath the blowing nozzle. 2 3 Rotate the nozzle and tube upwards, as shown, to disengage the fi tting at the Blow/Vac function switch. 3 Screws x 2 4 Pull the nozzle and tube away from the Blow/Vac function switch as shown. 5 Clear the blockage. A garden hose can be used to push out any material that is blocking the tube. Water pressure may help with this. 5 & w blo ac v 6 Re-assembly is reverse of disassembly. 14

VACUUM BAG As with all similar bags, the material becomes clogged with fi ne particles during use and the operating effi ciency of the machine will deteriorate without simple routine maintenance. It is good practice to unclog the bag by shaking it after each use to ensure the bag material is able to fi lter correctly. Where a bag is clogged with damp particles, it should be allowed to dry before dusting. The Vac bag may be cleaned off the machine by the use of a garden hose and allowing it to dry before use. Never store a damp bag. Always ensure the bag is completely dry before storage. The vacuum bag is a consumable item. It is subject to high degrees of wear and tear and as such will need replacing from time to time. Replacement bags are available from your Victa dealer. Always replace a worn bag immediately. To reduce unneccessary wear on your vacuum bag, avoid operating the machine in a manner that causes the bag to drag on the ground. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight to be sure the appliance is in safe working condition. Check the debris collector frequently for wear or deterioration. Replace worn or damaged parts. Use only genuine replacement parts and accessories. Store the appliance only in a dry place. MAINTENANCE SAFETY Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug H.T. lead before clearing blockages, checking or working on the unit. Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug H.T. lead and inspect the unit if it begins to vibrate abnormally or if it strikes a foreign object. Use only genuine VICTA replacement parts. CLEARING AN INLET BLOCKAGE Twigs and long material may cause a blockage in the inlet chute of your Vac & Blow. If this occurs try giving the machine a gentle shake while it is still running. If this is not successful, switch your Vac & Blow off, remove the spark plug H.T. lead. Clear the blockage using a stick or similar long thin object (never use a metal object). To prevent a recurrence when vacuuming this type of material, it may be necessary to move your Vac & Blow more slowly over the debris to be picked up. VAC & BLOW FUNCTION SWITCH If the Vac & Blow function switch becomes jammed or blocked, operate the switch while the Vac & Blow is running. Rotating the switch several times should clear the blockage. 15

MAINTENANCE & CARE Brush replacement Lever out brush at ends by use of a fl at bladed screwdriver. Replace with new brush by pushing into slot. Brush should be held in place by the 4 spring clips. Maintenance Chart Refer to the following table for routine maintenance. Features Requirements Vac and Blow Visual inspection (leaks) Throttle lever Check operation Stop switch Check Fuel tank Clean Air filter Check Clean Replace (Depending on conditions) Cowling Clean Cylinder fins Clean Spark plug Clean & readjust gap All accessible fasteners Retighten Muffler Inspect Inspect spark arresting screen Clean or replace Before After finish Refuelling Monthly Yearly If damaged As required Always stop the engine before any maintenance is done on the unit. When all parts have stopped rotating, remove the spark plug lead to begin maintenance work. Never attempt maintenance that is not outlined in this manual. All repair work must be carried out by a VICTA Authorised Service Centre. 16
