VISUAL COTTON INJURY: 1. At 17 d after PRE, Reflex plus Prowl stunted cotton 10 to 15%. 2. POST 1 applications caused no visual cotton injury except for Roundup plus Staple which caused minor leaf chlorosis. 3. POST 2 applications of Ignite caused 5 to 10% leaf spotting while Roundup caused 3% leaf speckling. 4. Direx plus MSMA caused 17 to 23% leaf chlorosis on those leaves touched by the layby spray. 5. Cotton recovered rapidly from all herbicide injury. GR PALMER RESPONSE: 1. At 1 month after planting and PRE applications, Prowl plus Reflex provided 71 to 72% control. Timely POST 1 Ignite applications to 3 inch Palmer amaranth provided excellent control. Roundup plus Staple also provided excellent control. 2. At 7 d after layby and late in the season, all Ignite programs including a layby directed treatment or a topical POST 3 application provided excellent control. Late in the season, COMPLETE control was noted with one system: Prowl plus Reflex PRE, Ignite plus Dual POST, and Direx plus MSMA directed. Poor control was noted with Ignite systems lacking a directed spray or POST 3 spray and all Roundup systems except the one system including Roundup plus Staple POST. SICKLEPOD: 1. Sicklepod did not emerge until POST 2 applications; however, all Ignite and Roundup applications provided excellent control of emerged plants. 2. Late in the season, all programs provided at least 95% control except the two Ignite programs that did not include a POST3 or PD treatment, these programs provided less than 70% control because of late emergence. MORNINGGLORY: 1. Morningglory did not emerge until POST 2 applications; however, all Ignite and Roundup applications provided excellent control of emerged plants as the morningglory was small when treated. 2. Late in the season, all programs provided 99% control except the two Ignite programs that did not include a POST3 or PD treatment, these programs provided less than 83% control because of late emergence. TEXAS MILLET: 1. Texas millet did not emerge until POST 2 applications; however, all Ignite and Roundup applications provided excellent control of emerged plants. 2. Late in the season, all programs provided 99% control except the two Ignite programs that did not include a POST3 or PD treatment, these programs provided 78% control because of late emergence. SEED COTTON YIELD: 1. Seed cotton yield followed trends noted with Palmer amaranth control.

Ignite systems with POST3 or PD treatments provided similar statistical yields, although greatest numerical yields were noted with Prowl + Reflex PRE, Ignite plus Dual POST, and Direx plus MSMA directed. 4. Not applying the POST 3 applications in the Ignite systems reduced yields at least 60%. 5. The only system with greater than 1000lb of seed cotton in the Roundup program included Staple POST. GENERAL COMMENTS: 1. April 24, 2009: LL 1845 LL B2, DP 0935 B2 Flex were cultivars planted. 2. May 31, 2009: AMAPA: Weeds following POST 1 were < or = 3 in; AMAPA: Weedsnot behind POST 1 up to 10 in. 3. June 19, 2009: Ignite systems AMAPA 4" or less; Roundup systems 24" or less 2009 Macon Co.
