3 THE CONNECTION POINT KEYLESS OPERATION SYSTEM WITH ENGINE SWITCH ASX features a Keyless Operation System that allows you to start driving without ever taking your key from your pocket. To start the ignition, all you need to do is press the button located near the centre of the dash panel with the brake depressed and the shift in parking position for AT, or with the clutch pedal depressed and shift in neutral position for manual transmission. With one push, the engine starts immediately and you re on your way. Once you ve arrived at your destination, one more push is all that s needed to shut the engine off. COLOUR LCD MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY The high-contrast meter cluster is attractively laid out to maximise style and visibility. The silver-rimmed meters are illuminated in white for a feel of luxury, and the full-colour LCD multi-information display conveniently shows remaining fuel, trip and total distance, average fuel consumption, outside temperature, and vehicle status. *Illuminated for explanation purpose. 4 OPEN INVITATION With all the work that has gone into condensing ASX to just the right size for active driving fun, you may be surprised at all the spacious comfort that awaits you and your passengers inside. Rear seat passengers will be impressed with the leg- and headroom, and everyone will enjoy the soothing upholstery, available in luxuriant leather or soft fabric. Numerous storage compartments have been placed throughout the interior, giving you plenty of room for all the extras you want to take along. HIGH HIP POINT Once behind the wheel, you ll find that even with its aerodynamic form, ASX gives you a surprisingly elevated seat position. Combined with the sloping hood design, this provides a better view of the road for easier manoeuvring and greater safety. The raised hip point also allows for smoother entrances and exits, and makes even long journeys more comfortable. GLASS ROOF The panoramic glass roof adds a new dimension to the drive, allowing you and your passengers to enjoy the view from every direction. 6 READY FOR ANYTHING Normal HID headlamps SUPER WIDE RANGE HID HEADLAMPS What you can t see, can hurt you. To take more of the road out of the shadows, ASX features Super Wide Range HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps. When activated, the headlamp clusters send out broader beams of light, illuminating a much wider section of the road ahead. Super Wide Range HID headlamps 7-AIRBAG SYSTEM So that you and your passengers can be safer in the event of a collision, ASX is equipped with a 7-airbag system to provide increased safety to every seat. The front seat occupants are protected by front airbags, plus an additional knee airbag for the driver to help protect the legs in a forward collision. In a side collision, the front occupants are protected by side airbags and occupants in both rows are protected by curtain airbags extending along the sides. Note: 7-Airbag System is optional. Equipment may vary from the image shown. Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seat belt, sit upright in the middle of the seat and do not lean against the door. Always place children 12 and under in the rear seat and use appropriate child restraints. Never place a rear-facing infant restraint in the front seat. ACTIVE STABILITY CONTROL (ASC) AND TRACTION CONTROL (TCL) The Active Stability Control system uses onboard sensors to analyse the vehicle s motion and identify lateral wheel slippage. By governing engine output and applying braking power to the appropriate wheels, ASC helps to maintain stability and control. SUSPENSIONS Driving enjoyment begins with confidence, and confidence comes from control. ASX begins with wide treads and a long wheelbase for a solid foundation, with the MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions to carry you smoothly over any bumps the road may throw your way. The shock absorbers and stabilisers have been precision tuned for sporty, comfortable performance, ensuring superior cornering and sure-footed stability. Add in a direct and smooth steering feel to better match your movements, and driving ASX becomes an experience in total command of the road. LATERAL REAR-WHEEL SLIPPAGE Braking force is applied to the outer front wheel to prevent spin-out. LATERAL FRONT-WHEEL SLIPPAGE Braking force is applied to the inner rear wheel to prevent front-end drift. Note: The control capabilities of ASC/TCL are supplemental only. Please drive safely and never rely solely on these functions while driving. Be sure to use the same specified type and size of tyres on all 4 wheels. Do not install any aftermarket limited slip differential on your vehicle. Please see the owner s manual for additional information. HILL START ASSIST (HSA) TRACTION CONTROL FUNCTION When wheel spin is detected, engine output is governed and braking force is applied to the spinning wheels to prevent driving torque loss, for smooth starts and linear acceleration. HSA makes it easy to start off on a steep uphill slope by preventing the vehicle from rolling backward. When a gradient is detected, it automatically maintains the braking force until the accelerator is applied. With HSA Without HSA Note: Hill Start Assist (HSA) is not a substitute for safe driving. Never rely solely on this function while driving on steep roads. Your vehicle may move backwards if the brake pedal is heavily loaded, or if road is very steep or slippery. This function is not designed to keep the vehicle stopped in place on uphill slopes for more than 2 seconds. Do not rely on this function to maintain a stopped position as an alternative to depressing the brake pedal. Please see the owner s manual for additional information

13 RECYCLING OF OLD VEHICLES It is our duty to protect the environment. Mitsubishi Motors designs and produces high quality vehicles and components aiming to provide our customers with durable motor vehicles, and excellent services to maintain your vehicle in an optimum running condition. We have the highest respect for the environment and use materials which may be recycled and reused after your Mitsubishi Motors vehicle has come to the end of its economical life. After a long working life we will take your vehicle back and recycle it in an environmentally friendly manner in accordance with the EU Directive on End-of-Life Vehicles and any applicable national statutory provisions. All Mitsubishi Motors vehicles (up to 3.5t GVW) sold after 1st July 2002, will be taken back free of charge from the last owner, at one of the designated take back points, provided the vehicle contains all major components and is free of waste. From 1st January 2007, this applies to all Mitsubishi Motors vehicles irrespective of the sold date. A network of collection points is available to receive Mitsubishi Motors End-of-Life Vehicles, to ensure your vehicle will be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner. At the same time, the possibilities for the recycling of vehicles and vehicle components are continually being evaluated and improved, aiming to the achievement of even higher recycling percentages in the future. The European End-of-Life Vehicles Directive and the free take back of End-of-Life Vehicles are applicable in all European Union member states.
